Reechgarh Caves Pachmarhi || Ashoka movie shooting place || pachmarhi trip #13
Reechgarh is also the place where some scenes of ashoka movie shoot with kareena kapoor. Reechgarh has two meaning. One in English which actually Ridgegarh because of the natural ridge formed at the spot
The Hindi name of the the place is Reechgarh, Reech in Hindi is for a Bear. And the place is where bears were seen. It's a natural beauty where the rocks are carved naturally
A must visit place, it's got a small climb but the place is mesmerizing.
Reechgarh - one of the biggest natural cave in Pachmarhi. Reech stands for Bear and the cave is said be the place for bears. Quite a massive cave and very interesting inside. The place is very picturesque and a rough terrain. The cavern looks like a canyon inside with lot of water scars running for centuries inside. We spent close to 30 minutes here and it was really a worth time to spend.

Pachmarhi is a city in Madhya Pradesh. It is the only hill station in the central region of India. It is situated in the Satpura range and is 3500 ft above sea level. Pachmarhi comes under the Hoshagabad district and is called 'Satpura ki Rani'.
The area was discovered in the modern times by Captain James Forsyth of the British army. In 1857, Pachmarhi became a hill station and sanatorium for British troops in the Central Provinces of India. The population in 1901 was 3020, doubling during the hot summer months. Pachmarhi also served as the summer capital. Pachmarhi is 47 km from Pipariya.
While there are several sites within 5-6 km radius, the best way of getting around is to hire a four-wheeler, Maruti Gypsy being the norm in Pachmarhi. Gypsy can be hired through open market or hotel can arrange with Gypsy operators. It gets comfortable if one visits places of heart-attraction in Pachmarhi in their own vehicle.
One excellent and economic option is to share a Gypsy for sightseeing. They make shared tour keeping in mind the preferences of tourists (for example families or couples are not mixed with group of boys). You would really need to look around for providers of shared tours because everyone tries to promote full hire of vehicles.

Reechgarh, Pachmarhi
A picturesque rock formation, Reech Garh gets its name from an ancient legend according to which, a giant reech (bear) used to reside in the area. It is a place with a rough terrain so be ready with your trekking shoes if you plan to visit it. You will have to climb up and down a couple of uneven boulders in order to enter this cavern, which is open at both ends and offers a spectacular view.
One end of the cavern leads you into a canyon where the rocks have water scars, indicating natural water streams in the ancient past. Reech Garh has also got celebrity status after a part of the movie Ashoka was shot in its premises.

Reechgarh || Pachmarhi
This Bears' adobe, which is what Reechhgarh means, has not been home to bears in living memory. It is, in fact a high cavern open at both ends. To enter it from one side visitors have to scramble over a tumble of boulders. The other end opens into a narrow canyon, scarred and striated by the action of ancient streams that must have gushed through the Reechhgarh at great speed.
They sculpted and scoured, rounded, polished and etched the rocks leaving openings that vary from huge, irregular, balloons to others that look as if they had been sliced by a giant scimitar. It is a place of soaring silences as imminent with meaning as a great stage an instant before the first player steps out of the wings and the first flute begins to signal the overture.

Reechgarh Cave, Pachmarhi Walk Through
Reechgarh or Ridge-garh Pachmarhi HD
the name Reechgarh is the result of Ridge being mispronounced. After a short descent, you reach a very interesting rock formation between 2 sand stone ridges. Its significantly cooler down there compared to the car park above. We were informed that some scenes of SRK's Ashoka were shot here.

According to a legend, English ladies used to bathe in this pool during the British rule in India. As the English ladies wore white clothes while bathing, locals thought them to be fairies and hence named the pool as Apsara Vihar or Fairy Pool.
Located just 13 km away from the Pachmarhi bus stand, Apsara Vihar can be reached through gypsy, which can be hired by tourists.
This Rajat Prapaat waterfall is one of the biggest fall in India & looks more beautiful in Monsoon Season... As this fall is in Jungle area so you need permission from forest department & they allowed you to see it from opposite direction mostly for photography as you are not allowed to go & enjoy under this waterfall..
It takes 1 km trek to reach there & nearest attraction is Apsara Vihar waterfall just 0.5 km from here...
