A wonderful day snorkeling Rainbow Reef! We went with Nexus Tours, which left from the beach of Memories Grand Bahama, but some other snorkel tours in Freeport visit this reef as well.
A gorgeous, healthy reef with an abundance of hard and soft corals, and lots of colorful fish.

Freeport Bahamas Bottom Fishing Excursion
Went on a cruise over Thanksgiving and took a 4 hour Offshore Bottom fishing excursion in Freeport Bahamas. Set the excursion up through Carnival and had a decent trip with a lot of smaller reef fish that the crew kept. The donate the catch to the locals for food. I was surprised at how small they kept them but people have to eat! Tyson caught a decent Barracuda and I took a decent queen triggerfish. Overall 2 1/2 hours with hooks in the water. The water here is beautiful and very clear.

The Bahamas are OPEN!! NYE 2020 Grand Bahama Island!!
Since the devastation of Hurricane Dorian, the islands of the Bahamas have been struggling to get back to normal, with much of the affected areas still recovering with a long road ahead of them. The good news is, you can still visit the other islands, and the closest one to West Palm, Florida is one of them!! 70% of Grand Bahama Island was flooded and affected by the hurricane, however the most visited areas have been spared and were able to recuperate quickly! I had an incredible time visiting this island; the people and the environment make this one of my favorite places in the world! Please enjoy my trip, and hopefully you can make a trip over yourself and help the island get back to normal by feeding their largest industry- tourism!

SNORKELING Freeport Bahamas, out to Deadmans reef from crystal beach
Please Like, Comment and Subscribe so you can catch more of our Bahama Adventures. And our summer boating around the US Lakes .
Here is our day in Freeport Bahamas. It started out overcast and sprinkling, but it cleared up and we decided to go again out to Deadman’s Reef. The rock off the beach at Crystal Beach. Once out there we were hoping to find swimming pigs, but it turns out they are all pinned up. The underwater was so clear and amazing. The water was never more than 3 feet deep. Once past the reef there was a small 10 foot drop off with lots more coral and sea life. It was mesmerizing. But we didn’t have much time as we needed to make it back to our ship before departure. This is our second port of call from the Carnival Breeze.

Grand Bahama Island: Paradise Cove
Paradise Cove: Grand Bahama Island
Amazing beach, snorkeling, and kayaking all in one day! Back in November, I took a little family trip over to the Bahamas and of course explored some of the marine habitats in the area. See if you recognize some of the fish and corals in the video (beyond what I already labeled!)
Enjoy some time in the tropics!
This trip occurred on November 17th 2018.
This day was part of a tour from Calabash Eco Adventures

Ep. 06 - Snorkeling the reef in Freeport, Bahamas
We just went about 3/4 of a mile off the island to the reef and jumped off the boat. The water was so clear. It was amazing. Not even the GoPro could pick up how far you could see due to it's inability to zoom in on things.
While we were down there, we saw a little baby reef shark too which was pretty neat. I tried getting video of it, but it was too far away. But at least I can technically scratch Swimming with sharks off my bucket list.
Exploring Lucaya Beach - VIDEO TOUR (Freeport, The Bahamas)
Checking out Lucaya Beach in Freeport! We took a Jitney (public bus) here and explored the beach a little! The water was really nice and so was the beach! As soon as we arrived, somebody tried to sell us a T-Shirt, and then some cocaine, and somebody also asked us to smell his good weed lol. If you can get away from the beach entrances where these guys hang, you'll have a nice time!

Pelican Lake Kayak Snorkel Adventure
This tour is 6 hours in duration
Your adventure begins with a pickup from your place of lodging, be it at a resort in the Freeport resort area or Freeport Harbour our Cruise Ship Port. Commentary will be provided while your guide drives to the adventurous destinations of the day.
Stop 1
Pelican Lake is your destination of water and aquatic trees known as Red Mangrove. This is a shallow body of water which is less than 4 feet deep the entire kayaking experience. See a number of species of birds within their given season. Kayak over hundreds of Mangrove Jellyfish that is often seen in one section of this shallow body of water and often feed on by Turtles. Your guide will stand in the water of this amazing ecosystem holding a Jellyfish in hand to share some wonderful information about this specie and show you how harmless they are. Kayak over beds of Sargassum weed that resemble an underwater forest. Here you may find some larger fish congregating, however, this type of ecosystem is a nursery for juvenile marine and avian animals.
Stop 2
Paradise Cove is our Snorkeling destination and a short drive from Pelican Lake. It is also the destination for lunch and offers a wonderful view of Sun Sand and Sea. Snorkel from a beautiful Sandy Beach and over a bed of marine seagrass known as Turtle Grass (Thalassia testudinum), Your destination is a line of massive rocks extending above the water to more than 20 feet, but down to more than 30 feet below the water's surface. Once there enjoy a reef teaming with fish life. This is probably the best place on Island to experience larger marine animals, like Spotted Eagle-rays and different species of Turtles. For experience snorkelers, it is a wonderful place to explore your free diving skills.
After an active first part of the day, you will be ready to enjoy a local dish from Paradise Cove's Beach grill. While you enjoy lunch take note of the view as their wooden deck faces an emerald coloured, Ginn clear and crystal blue Ocean.
Stop 3
Our next adventure is to drive through local settlements for more of a cultural adventure. Hearing the colourful history of how today's people came into being after the original people were taken away. Also enjoy a short snorkeling experience in a Blue Hole known by the locals as Da Boiling Hole. This is a wonderful snorkeling experience in a naturally formed hole influenced by the last Ice Age. These holes are connected to the Island's Cave systems that runs for miles. Your experience is a beautiful destination in the Settlement of Eight Mile Rock, with a wonderful coastal view.
Say good day to the seas and the gentle Ocean breeze, your guide will now return you back to your place of lodging or cruise port. Thank you for joining us on an Adventure, exploring Grand Bahama the way it was meant to be seen...
