Landscape Photography - Awesome sunset at Emily Bay -Norfolk Island-Part 1
In this Vlog I travel from Australia to a little gem in the south pacific called Norfolk Island. Norfolk is a popular tourist destination for Landscape photographers and travellers from Australia due to its natural beauty.
On arrival I set my goal to capture a sunset image at the lone pine tree at Emily Bay. This tree is as old as the island itself and was captured in a pencil sketch by British explorer James Cook in 1774 after he discovered Norfolk by mistake. It is amazing that it still stands today and is an icon of Norfolk Island.
The sunset did not disappoint and only improved after the sun disappeared and I was able to capture its stunning beauty.
All images captured using my Nikon 7100 and a Tokina 11-16 wide angle lens. I use a cable release and a Vanguard Alta series 70 tripod for maximum stability on all shots. Filters and Polariser used Formatt Hi Tech
I processed all images using Adobe Lightroom.

Curtis Island
Curtis Island offers stunning unspoilt beaches, intimate north-facing bays, sparkling ocean, the Great Barrier Reef, wilderness, wetlands as well as an outback-style cattle station. It even has its own airstrip. It is this combination of these diverse attributes and natural beauty which make Turtle Street absolutely unique in Australia and perhaps even the world. As it is situated under the Tropic of Capricorn, the climate is far less humid in summer than further north and it escapes the chill of south-east Queensland in the winter.
Island Games 2007 Rhodes - women's 1500m medal ceremony
Here is the medal ceremony for the women's 1500 metres in Rhodes in 2007. The gold medallist was Claire Wilson (Shetland), silver went to Jo Gorrod (Jersey), bronze went to Eilidh Mackenzie (Western Islands).
The traditional Shetland song The Norseman's Home has been adopted as the unofficial anthem for the islands at the Island Games, and is sung at the annual midwinter fire festival in Shetland known as Up Helly Aa. Rather different from the conditions found in midsummer in Rhodes it's fair to say - I'm not quite sure why Claire was wearing a full tracksuit in that heat!

In this episode of Country Music World, Mick & Jay interview the beautiful Angela Easson live from the Mildura Country Music Festival.
Springing forth from the hills of Adelaide, Angela Easson is a vibrant, up-and-coming singer/songwriter. Blitzing Australia’s modern country scene with her hard-earned reputation for mixing infectious melodies with her intensely personal lyrics, Angela is rightly regarded as a rising star.
After dedicating over two decades into her passion for music and natural talent for songwriting, Angela released her debut full length album Wanted in November 2015. Featuring reflections on love, loss, and life, Angela crafts tales to her unique combination of American and Australian country music, with Wanted drawing influence from the greats such as Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, and Kacey Musgraves.
Recorded with maverick producer Rob Mackay (Tanya Self, Dozzi, Luke O’Shea), Wanted was a physical journey alongside a personal one, with recording taking place in both the idyllic surrounds of Queensland’s Hervey Bay and global country music capital Nashville.
“I felt as though the process behind Wanted has built the album to be a true reflection of myself and everything I’ve done in life to date,” says Angela. “Each and every song is very personal, and I’m so incredibly proud of this album.”
Wanted revels in being the culmination to date of a life well lived – as a young hard-working mother of two, Angela’s ideals and tireless work ethic have informed her decisions and paid off in every way from early on.
After winning Country Music SA’s 2009 Senior Champion of Champion, Angela garnered more attention by being named as the 2010 Entertainer of the Year by the Norfolk Island Country Music Festival, joining previous winners such as Darren Coggan and Samantha McClymont.
Shortly after graduating from CMAA’s Country Music Academy, Angela had her debut single “Forget To Forget You” sweep the South Australian APRA Awards, taking out Modern Country Song Of The Year and Overall Country Song Of The Year. Following this, Angela went into the studio for the first time and with producer Anthony Stewart and constructed her self-titled EP, emerging with the lead single “Cry Baby Cry”.
Accompanied by a clip from award winning director Duncan Toombs, “Cry Baby Cry” went on to achieve national television rotation on the Country Music Channel, and the track went on to become a finalist in the 2013 MusicOz Independent Awards, while all tracks from the EP attained airplay nationally around Australia.
2014 had Angela release a sneak preview of her forthcoming album Wanted with an acoustic version of “Little Girl Dreams” going on to be lauded as a finalist in the Tamworth Songwriter’s Associations National Songwriting Contest. The track and the plaudits it received prompted Angela to kickstart work on Wanted in 2015, she started working with producer Rob Mackay.
“When Rob and I first connected, there was an almost immediate understanding of the path the album had to head down,” Angela says. “Rob’s calming influence was vital to helping me feel relaxed in the studio which I feel filtered through to the sound on Wanted.”
At the tail end of recording, another promising sign emerged – Angela was named the 2015 Brand New Star by radio station Todays Country 94.1FM.
Her new album “Wanted” was released in November 2015 in Adelaide and also at the 2016 Tamworth Country Music Festival. Her first single “Once Upon A Time” peaked at #14 on the Australian Country Tracks Charts and spent over six weeks in the Top 40 charts.

Australia Day is the official National Day of Australia. The meaning and significance of Australia Day has evolved over time. Unofficially, or historically, the date has also been variously named Anniversary Day, Foundation Day, and ANA Day. 26 January 1788 marked the proclamation of British sovereignty over the eastern seaboard of Australia (then known as New Holland). Although it was not known as Australia Day until over a century later, records of celebrations on 26 January date back to 1808, with the first official celebration of the formation of New South Wales held in 1818. On New Year's Day 1901, the British colonies of Australia formed a Federation, marking the birth of modern Australia. A national day of unity and celebration was looked for. It was not until 1935 that all Australian states and territories had adopted use of the term Australia Day to mark the date, and not until 1994 that the date was consistently marked by a public holiday on that day by all states and territories.
In contemporary Australia, the holiday is marked by the presentation of the Australian of the Year Awards on Australia Day Eve, announcement of the Australia Day Honours list and addresses from the Governor-General and the Prime Minister. It is an official public holiday in every state and territory of Australia, unless it falls on a weekend in which case the following Monday becomes a public holiday instead. With community festivals, concerts and citizenship ceremonies, the day is celebrated in large and small communities and cities around the nation. Australia Day has become the biggest annual civic event in Australia.
Some Indigenous Australian events are now included. However, since at least 1938 Australia Day has also been marked by various groups including Indigenous Australians and people sympathetic to their cause mourning what they see as the invasion of their land by Europeans, and protesting its celebration as a national holiday. These groups sometimes refer to 26 January as Invasion Day or Survival Day and advocate that the date should be changed to one with direct significance to Australia's proclamation, such as 1 January, the anniversary of the Federation of Australia in 1901
