Reformation Brewery
Reformation Brewery prepares to 'Set Beer Free' at their second location
Woodstock, GA is a fairly small community about 30 miles north of Atlanta. It's been my home for 14 years and Reformation Brewery's home for nearly five. When I moved here the big news/controversy in town was the opening of a new Super Wal-Mart. Many of the city's elder residents didn't think we needed that kind of growth, the old Wal-Mart was just fine (it wasn't). Now, the Downtown Woodstock area is lined with shops and restaurants, we have an amphitheater, a really nice trail system, and a brewery.
As Reformation approaches that 5th anniversary, they're preparing to open their second location. The 6,00-square-foot space is in the heart of Downtown Woodstock, close to all those fancy amenities I mentioned earlier. A 5-barrel brewhouse will serve up a variety of small-batch beers to visitors. The split plan will have various areas to relax and enjoy your brew, with one section set up to have a coffeehouse feel. The brewery has partnered with Queenie's Southern Restaurant & Bar for food service and space will be available for private events.
We sat down with Reformation Co-founder and Brewmaster Nick Downs this week to talk about the new digs, new beers, his faith and how that influences his business, and what he envisions for Reformation in the future. We also share a story about Martin Luther and how he helped promote the use of hops in beer.
Fresh back from Las Vegas, Brian drops some cigar info our way with his recap of new offerings discovered at the annual IPCPR cigar convention. If you want more cigar info be sure to check out StogieReview.com where Brian waxes poetic about his love for burning dead leaves.
In the news this week Three Weavers joins CANarchy, the Great American Beer Fest will be bigger than ever, and a punk album about craft beer.; We also welcome KCPX 1490 AM in Moab, UT as our newest radio affiliate. Catch Beer Guys Radio on KCPX Canyon Crossing every Sunday at 3:00 PM Mountain time.
Next week make sure to tune in for our interview with Alabama's Common Bond Brewers.

We visited a nice restaurant called Tap and Truck. It was pretty cool, they have a different food truck show up every single night. Woodstock is in Cherokee County, North of Atlanta. Some other nice towns to visit in the area are Roswell, Jasper, and one of our favorites is blue ridge ga as well.
Plenty of walking around, stores and shopping. Outdoor dining Galore. One of the coolest things about downtown Woodstock Georgia, is that train tracks that run down the entire town. It's a great place for fun things to do in Canton or fun things to do in Woodstock Georgia.
Another great thing about Woodstock GA, is that it's super dog friendly. They also have a great farmers market on the weekends.
BEST DAY EVER gives it a two thumbs up!

Cherry Street Brewing Cooperative - Episode 39 - 9/22/16
What do you get when you combine a Georgia native, an interest in home brewing and an education in Colorado?
A really awesome brewpub, that's what. Nick Tanner, brewmaster of Cherry Street Brewing Cooperative in Cumming joined the Beer Guys in studio.
We were able to grab Nick for an interview as he was in the midst of shipping beer to the upcoming Great American Beer Festival.
Nick talked about his background, growing up in the restaurant industry, discovering craft beer while at Colorado State University, and heading back to his hometown to open a brewpub and tap room in partnership with Rick Tanner's Grille and Bar in the Vickery Village center. We also talked about their recent tap room expansion and their many, many, many varieties of beer.
Truck and Tap's beers of the week include Cherry Street's O.A.S.I.S barrel aged Imperial stout (don't ask what O.A.S.I.S stands for). Plus, a couple beers from Florida's Cycle Brewing that Becky brought back from her recent trip.

Savannah River Brewing Company
When you think about Augusta, you probably think about that big golf tournament.
You likely don't think about craft beer. And up until a couple years ago, you'd be right. Georgia's second largest city had been a beer desert. But some pioneers are starting to change that.
From beer bars like the Hive to breweries like Riverwatch and Savannah River Brewing Company, it's now possible to get some great craft beer in the city.
On this episode, we talk to Savannah River Brewing Company owner Steve Ellison, head brewer Adam Fullmer and taproom manager Ashlie Arsenault about the craft scene, developing a brewery, and the startup process. Plus, Tim tries to pronounce Phinizy Swamp with hilarious results.

Beer Cockails with Jason Santamaria
To some, making a cocktail out of beer is a sin.
But it's a delicious sin!
Jason Santamaria, one of the founders of Second Self, started experimenting with beer cocktails in college as a way to make cheap beer taste better.
Today? You could call him a mixologist. He regularly crafts cocktails for friends and family, and they dabble a little bit in (non-alcoholic) mixers at Second Self's taproom.
We also talked about what's happening in the Atlanta brewery's world, including the new release of their ATAle cans to celebrate Pride week.
Skye Estroff from the Taste of Atlanta also stopped by to tell us about their beers at the event.
