Reggae Dive Center (Coron, Palawan) | Dive Hype

Okikawa Maru & Barracuda Lake
Many of you asked me how is diving in Coron? What is wreck diving? Well..It's not everyone cup of tea, it's different from normal reef dive, you get into confined space, darkness and mysterious moment. Check out this video of our dive at Okinawa Maru Wreck and a bizarre dive at Barracuda Lake where we dove in the first 10m of fresh water where you see everything sink easily, the sand and us. The temperature increase from 30 to 39 degree celcius at the depth of 10m onwards to 32m where salt water covers the bottom layer. It was a great experience!

SCUBA DIVING IN CORON, PHILIPPINES
PHILIPPINES VLOG 3
CORON, PALAWAN
MAY 2017
In May 2017, I backpacked through the Philippines for three weeks, and vlogged every minute.
We had a little bit of an early start this morning in hopes of finding some breakfast before our dives. Unfortunately nothing was open! We did three fun dives with Reggae Diver Center and I highly recommend them. They were super organized, provided lunch, and had great equipment. The only down side was that we were placed with two other divers who had just completed their open water course. Needless to say we were all over the place to try and cater to them as well. Wreck diving is something Coron is known for, and it was pretty spectacular. Sorry this vlog is a little short. It was a really long day!

Wreck Diving in Coron, Philippines
Spent a month in Coron doing my dive masters at Reggae dive center, here's a quick edit of some of the diving I did.
(Dive Magazine UK)
On 24 September 1944, a squadron of 24 Helldiver bombers burst out of the sky above Coron Bay in the Philippines, located the Japanese supply fleet hiding among the islands below, and proceeded to blow it apart. The dive bombers, escorted by 96 Hellcat fighters – some of which were also carrying bombs – had just 15 minutes to sink as many ships as possible before their fuel would get too low for them to complete the 340-mile return journey to their aircraft carrier. The attack was ruthlessly successful, and left a legacy that wouldn’t be discovered until recreational diving came to this remote part of the Philippines.

Technical Wreck Diving - Kyokuzan Maru, Coron
Video footage from a recent trip to the less dived Kyokuzan Mar wreck on the North side of Buswanga Island.
The Kyokuzan Maru was carrying asbestos in several of its cargo holds, this is harmless underwater but has resulted in a thick 'yellow mist' on the lower level of the wreck.
