Eva Jiricna - SPACE: LIGHT
Lecture date: 2008-05-06
Part of the Founding Lecture Series of the AIA/UK, celebrating the AIAs 150th anniversary. Through the presentation and discussion of projects and theories, 'Space: Light' celebrates liaisons and dialogues while weaving through a flowing association of diptychs: education-profession; art-architecture; past-future, New York-London.

Jiricnas contribution to architecture and design has been recognised with many awards. She holds honorary doctorates and professorships in several Universities in both the UK and Czech Republic and participates on international juries and lectures internationally. In Prague, Jiricnas holistic design approach has been applied to the Hotel Josef, following the completion of the new Orangery in Pragues Castle. More recently, Eva has designed the new Library and Administration Centre for Tomas Bata University in Zlin and the Conference Centre for the City of Zlin. In London she has completed the new Jewellery Gallery for the Victoria & Albert Museum and designed the Skin & Bones exhibition at Somerset House.

CZEGGS | Czech design at London | Frameless Gallery
Fresh design talent from the Czech Republic hatches in London this October, when Czeggs comes to Clerkenwell's Frameless Gallery. For this compelling new exhibition, a talented brood of Czech designers will reveal the work that could make them tomorrow's design stars.
The show features graphic design, digital, photographic and 3D works, including clever stationery packaging, bold fashion imagery and innovative modular furniture. It also provides a platform for exciting motion graphics and animations that blend Eastern and Western European styles. The designers showing at Czeggs are all current or former students of the Czech Republic's eminent creative institution, the Faculty of Multimedia Communications at Tomas Bata University in Zlín.
Proudly incubating the students' work is creative agency Little Greta. Founded by Faculty alumni, the consultancy maintains close links with the University, providing hands-on experience for its students.
Little Greta conceived Czeggs as part of its commitment to nurture young Czech designers. The group's leading-edge commercial work for Czech and international clients also features in the exhibition.
Czeggs runs at the Frameless Gallery in Clerkenwell from 22 -- 26 October 2013.

Klara Hobza Interview: On Diving Through Europe
In her grand art endeavor ‘Diving Through Europe’, Berlin-based Klara Hobza investigates the boundaries of what is conceivable by diving the European rivers, stretching from the North Sea to the Black sea in the course of 20-30 years.
“There is no way you can prepare for something nobody has ultimately never done before.” The sense of throwing oneself into the impossible seems to draw a parallel to one of Hobza’s great inspirations, Werner Herzog, and his movie ‘Fitzcarraldo’ (1982), where the cast members dragged a steamship across a hill. Hobza’s grand endeavor has been planned to last 20-30 years before completion.
Follow Klara Hobza’s journey and learn more about the artist here: klarahobza.com
Klara Hobza (b.1975) is a Berlin-based artist, born in Plzen, Czech Republic. Hobza moved to New York as a DAAD fellow in 2002, and received a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) from Columbia University in 2005. Among many other awards, Klara was awarded the SculptureCenterPrize in 2005, the Fellowship in Cross-Disciplinary/Performative Work from the New York Foundation for the Arts in 2007, the 2009 DIVA residency stipend in Copenhagen, Denmark and the 2012 catalogue award by Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach-Stiftung. She has been exhibiting internationally since 2001, and from 2011 the artist has been represented by Berlin-based gallery soy capitán.
Klara Hobza was interviewed by Kasper Bech Dyg at Udstillingsstedet Sydhavn Station in Copenhagen, Denmark in 2014.

Bata Shoe Museum Toronto, Canada
I never thought that shoes could be so interesting. A visit to The Bata Shoe Museum is joyful and inspiring. It houses one of the world’s most impressive collections of footwear — over 10,000 items spanning 4,500 years of history, celebrating the style and function of footwear ranging from Chinese bound foot shoes and ancient Egyptian sandals to chestnut-crushing clogs.

Hi, this is my long video from our small trip around East Bohemia. We visited few places and drove through many villages. Weather was not perfect but still you can see many things, cute countryside, narrow roads and folk houses. I hope you will enjoy this ride.

ADIFF TV | Celebrating Irish Talent | Photography Exhibition
The 2017 Audi Dublin International Film Festival ran from 16 - 26 February.
To celebrate the wealth of Irish talent in the programme, the festival presented an exhibition of portrait photography featuring a selection of homegrown talent. The exhibition was a mixture of personalities from in front of and behind the camera, shot by Hugh O’Conor, someone who is no stranger himself to our cinema screens. Hugh’s acting career spans more than 30 years but his skills also lie behind the camera as a director and a fantastic photographer.
The exhibition ran in Powerscourt Centre in the heart of Dublin.
