Regner Rotory Splash Park West Bend, WI 2010
Regner Park in West Bend,WI. is a busy place these days. The new pavilion is going up fast. The addition to the lannon stone gazebo is moving along. And the Rotory Splash area is starting to take shape.
I recorded an area outside the fence to the west (left) near the new pavilion, this is where a new permanent stage will be built which will be elevated about four feet and face South East towards the new construction. It is designed to match the other buildings and blend into the surroundings. Finally, new concrete will complete the $600,000 project.
Regner Park will host 1100 people for the 2010 cache-bash, a geocache event, this summer.
Also the weekend of August 1st, 2010 West Bend will celebrate the 75th Anniversary of Regner Park. All are invited.
It's kind of interesting to see the pipes of the splash park because soon they will be buried forever.
Can't wait to see it completed especially when the whole park is green.

Riverside Park, West Bend, WI 2009
This is Riverside park, West Bend, WI. September 2009.
The park boasts a sculpture walk with art from nationally known artists and home of the Kettle Moraine Jazz in the Park, but I like the quiet and all the wildlife there is in the park. West Bend launches it's fireworks off from this park, but that is a different type of wild life.

And of course the Musical Frogs. I think it's funny that somebody puts hats, scarves, and mittens on the frogs when the weather gets cold.
Enchantment in the Park
The annual Enchantment in the Park, an animated holiday light show & Santa's village, opens Friday, November 27 at Regner Park in West Bend. The event started in 2009 during the recession when the five Rotary Club's in Washington County recognized there was a huge need to fill the county food pantries. 500,000 plus LED and RGB lights are used to illuminate the park to create a magnificent winter holiday trip through time, starting in the 1900s and culminating in Christmas present. We are joined by Jeff Pott
Shalom Wildlife Zoo - West Bend, Wisconsin
Beginning in 1979, thirty acres of land was purchased with the intent to preserve it from development. Over the years additional adjacent parcels were acquired. Today the Zoo encompasses 100 acres. Shalom's wildlife began as a deer farm with native whitetail deer that were purchased from the State of Wisconsin. People would come to see those Big Bucks on guided wagon ride tours through the property. The tours provided a great opportunity to educate visitors on animals, plants, habitat and Native American culture. In 1990 Bison and Elk were added for additional wildlife viewing enjoyment. Soon red fox, raccoon, skunk and mink were purchased and put on exhibit. Every year more species are added. In 2002 self guided tours were made available for those that wanted to walk, and in 2006 golf carts were added for those who were unable to walk.
Although still a working farm, in 2010 Shalom was licensed as a Zoo and is home to over four-hundred animals that are cared for daily. Some of the animals are here for permanent placement, some have been donated and some have been purchased.
Our Mission Statement: To preserve the wilderness, while providing education, enjoyment and wildlife encounters in a natural ecosystem.
Shalom is a privately owned federally licensed zoo and receives no government assistance. We are solely funded by the admission fee to the zoo. Your visits are important to the future of Shalom. With your support we strive to improve Shalom Wildlife Zoo.
Shalom is a Hebrew word that means Peace.
