Diamond Princess Cruise Vlog - Osaka and Kyoto Japan
Don't forget to check out reviews, tips and photos visit our wonderful sponsor:
Hey Cruisers,
It's time for another port day on our Diamond Princess Asia Cruise. It is Osaka Japan day on our 12 night cruise. During this cruise we'll cover 2800 nautical miles and visit Tokyo, Shimizu, Osaka, Taipei (Keelung), Hong Kong, Nha Trang & Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) Vietnam, and Singapore.
Once again we start off this cruise vlog bright and early. Jet lag still has us up before dawn. We had the beautiful Atrium and the Lobby bar essentially all to ourselves for morning coffee. After that we were off to meet Moe, our guide for Osaka (we booked through triplelights.com). Our primary goal for the day was to visit the Fushimi Inari Shrine. After some brief introductions, we were off on a whirlwind of trains, tickets, and walking. Once in Kyoto, it was a short walk to the Fushimi Inari Shrine. There are lots of charming little shops and vendors along the way. The walk is crowded, but pleasant. After arriving at the shrine, Moe kept us informed and entertained. You'll see me doing things like the water purification ritual, and making a wish. It was all fascinating and fun. Next we were off to explore the seemingly endless torii gates. It does get extremely crowded (and a bit noisy), but everyone was polite, and friendly. After Fushimi Inari we hop back on another train, and head to the Yasaka Shrine in the Gion District of Kyoto. Then we head out on foot for lunch. We stop at a nice little place, and you'll get a good look at our lunch selections. Our next stop is Osaka station, and a visit to Pokémon Center. Our son had a ball there, but be warned, the checkout lines are super long. Our final stop before heading back to the ship was Shinsekai area. We had a great time just walking around and exploring. Today was another great day on our Princess Cruises voyage to Asia. Thanks for joining us for this cruise vlog as we travel to Japan for our Diamond Princess Asia Cruise. We've got much more Asia cruise adventures ahead. We'll have some Asia cruise tips, more cruise vlogs from Japan, Taiwan, Vietnam, and Singapore.

Diamond Princess - Nikko Narita Airport Hotel - Pre-Cruise - Spring Flowers Cruise - April 2018
A tour of the Nikko Narita Airport Hotel, the hotel I stayed at with my 1-night Princess Cruises pre-package hotel stay. The stay was from April 12-13, 2018.
Breakfast buffet in the Serena restaurant in the hotel is included in the pre-package. Transfer was by hotel airport bus, after being greeted at the airport by a Princess Cruise representative.
The hotel room was small but was sufficient and clean. Bathroom included a Japanese-style toilet with various buttons. Hotel floor included vending machines that sell beer.
A visit to the hotel garden is also included here.

International recovery efforts continue in Japan - 06 May 2011
International recovery efforts continue in Japan. On Monday, May 2, Japan's Parliament passed an emergency US$49 billion relief budget for reconstruction in the northeastern region devastated by the March 11 earthquake and tsunami. Japan's National Police Agency has confirmed over 14,700 fatalities, with more than 10,000 listed as missing and an unknown number of others still unaccounted for. Nearly two months after the twin disasters, about 126,000 survivors are still in temporary shelters across the country, with many elderly falling ill due to their prolonged stays. On Tuesday, Japan's Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency Director General Nobuaki Terasaka visited Fukushima Prefecture for the first time since March 11, where he apologized to prefectural Governor Yuhei Sato and the people of Fukushima for the ongoing nuclear crisis. On Wednesday, TEPCO's president Masataka Shimizu likewise apologized again to communities affected by nuclear emergency.
As workers at the Fukushima Daiichi complex continue their efforts to control radiation leakage and repair vital cooling systems, Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) announced the construction of a tent that will provide a protective buffer zone to halt radioactive material from seeping into the environment as workers go in and out of the buildings to make critical cooling system repairs. Fans and filters have also been installed at reactor No. 1 to reduce interior radiation to one-twentieth of its current levels. A team entered the building for the first time since March 11 on Thursday.
In a study conducted in Tokyo and four other prefectures, including Fukushima and neighboring Ibaraki, seven of 23 women were found to have trace levels of radioactive substances in their breast milk. On Tuesday, TEPCO announced that radiation measurements from the Pacific seabed near the facility were 100 to 1,000 times the normal level. After conducting tests on a ship from South Korea that had been in the vicinity of the damaged plant, Chilean officials found traces of radioactivity in 20 used cars aboard. Higher-than-normal levels of radioactive cesium were also detected at a port in Belgium on a container that had arrived from Japan.
As the nuclear crisis continues, the government has increased the permissible annual radiation amount for schoolchildren in Fukushima from 1 to 20 millisieverts per year, in order to ensure the education of hundreds of thousands. However, the move caused protests from parents, with a senior adviser on the nuclear crisis also resigning, saying that the new limit is unacceptably high.
On Monday in central Japan, the Fukui prefectural government announced that a nuclear power plant in Tsuruga was believed to be leaking radioactive materials from fuel rods, as an increase in density of the toxic substances in coolant water had been observed. As safety concerns over nuclear plants continue to rise, NHK news agency reports that about 400 shareholders of TEPCO, Kansai Electric, Chugoku Electric, Kyushu Electric, and Tohoku Electric companies in the nation submitted a proposal for the utilities to decommission their nuclear power plants. In Formosa (Taiwan), over 13,000 people participated in demonstrations against the nuclear power industry on Saturday, urging their government to work on developing renewable energy sources.
Our thankfulness for the helpful initiatives of the Japanese and international governments, officials, and the continued brave efforts of the nuclear plant personnel. With the grace of the Divine, we pray for the protection of Japan and the world as humanity works to minimize such disasters by adopting more benevolent, uplifting lifestyles.

May 3, 2011 - More Nuclear problems among other things...
Uploaded by NibiruMagick2012 on May 2, 2011
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission is investigating after a radioactive element is found in the Mississippi river. Authorities say it started at the Grand Gulf Nuclear Plant in Port Gibson. They say they went to check for standing water in an abandoned unit, and found a build up of water. They decided to pump it out, and after taking a sample, they discovered the chemical tritium had been released into the river. Officials say the River has diluted the radioactive material, and is not causing harm to the people. Right now the incident is under investigation. There's no word on how much Tritum was pumped into the water.
Situation Update No. 1

Radioactive leakage from fuel rods at a nuclear power plant in the city of Tsuruga in Fukui prefecture on Honshu island of Japan are believed to be the cause of a surge in the density of toxic substances detected in coolant water, the prefectural government said Monday. Japan Atomic Power Company, owner and operator of the potentially faulty nuclear plant, has said it will attempt to manually override the plant's No. 2 reactor's system in an effort to contain the leak and conduct further investigation into its critical cooling systems.
It's one of the most incredible gatherings of animals that's ever been recorded. It's mind-blowing, said marine biologist Al Dove of the Georgia Aquarium. As someone who studies whale sharks, which have a reputation of being something you see once in a blue moon, the idea of finding 400 in an area of the size of a couple football fields is unheard of.
