Tallinn to Helsinki Ferry: First Day in Helsinki, Finland
On the first day in Helsinki,, we took the Tallink Megastar for a trip on the Tallinn to Helsinki Ferry and went walking in Helsinki, Finland. What started off as a grey, overcast day turned into a stunning sunny afternoon stroll around the city. Come back tomorrow for day 2.

A Perfect Day in Helsinki, Finland
Perfect Day in Helsinki: One of the worst things that could happen to a video creator, happened. All of my audio footage was corrupted. By some kind of miracle, this video was created. Yes, I am lost for words how incredible this place is, and we are only scratching the surface.
Today, I visited Suomenlinna, a Fortress Island, and UNESCO heritage site, and spent most of the time walking around on my own with no tourist in sight. It gave me time to reflect and be thankful.

Biking and Kayaking in Helsinki | Finland Vlog Day 2
Our second day in Finland was full of adventures. We started off by going on a biking tour of Helsinki which covered the downtown area but mostly focused on scenic sections mere kilometers away from the heart of the city. It was wonderful getting out into the woods, meandering around the water and visiting small local communities. In the evening we went kayaking when it was still light outside to a remote island where we made a bonfire. On the way back home, when it was dark we paddled back with nothing but the moon and our headlights guiding us.

Biking and Kayaking in Helsinki | Finland Vlog Day 2
It's our first full day in Finland and it is finally breakfast time. We actually woke up at two thirty in the morning because we were jet lagged and then the sun slowly started coming up at like four thirty in the morning. We've been waiting for this for a long time.
Someone is hungry. Yes.
That was a really filling breakfast. I think we're both just stuffed. We're going to go on a very small walk around jail hotel and show you the sites.
They have a really cool little garden where it appears they're growing their own vegetables.
It is a beautiful day to be outdoors today and we are all geared up to go on a bike ride. We are going to be taking a tour of Helsinki.
How is it going so far? Oh, I'm getting a workout here.
You look really silly with your ball cap and helmet on top. Come on, I'm starting a new fashion trend over here. This is what is considered cool these days.
Oh really? No, definitely not. But what is cool is that just getting outside of Helsinki, a few kilometers, you're out right in the woods. This is amazing. Let's do a 360.
We just finished our four hour long bike ride around Helsinki and next up we're going kayaking. Right now it is nine PM. It is still bright out and I think we're supposed to be back at midnight, so let's go.
Normally I like to do a single kayak because I don't really trust Sam on the water but I've been talked into this double kayak for newlywed couples.
Teamwork. Except, I'm the only one paddling because you're sitting back there filming. Yep, that's about right.
Enjoy a few beers in the back of the double kayak. Yep, I'll just have the beers, sit back and let her do all of the work. Right, Audrey? Oh, hush.
Paddle. Paddle faster. Argh.
No, don't make it wobble. I'm going to tip it over.
Wobble, wobble, wobble, wobble.
Sam! That is not. Okay, stop it.
It is eleven thirty now and we are paddling back home in the dark with nothing but the moon and our lights to guide us.

Ferry ride to Suomenlinna Sea Fortress from Helsinki, Finland including touring around the island
On a lovely sunny afternoon we enjoyed a ferry ride from Helsinki, Finland to Suomenlinna visiting a Sea Fortress, wandering around the island and enjoying black licorice ice cream as part of our walking tour around the island. With a couple of days in Helsinki under our belt, we wanted to explore around some of the outer areas - including a trip a nearby island. Meeting up with Audrey's friend who is studying in Finland for the day, we ventured off to Suomenlinna, a historical maritime fortress and one of Finland's most popular sights. The brief ferry was as comfortable a ride I've ever been on before. With temperatures reaching the low 20's I felt a refreshing breeze against my face as the gentle rays of sun penetrate my skin.

The 15 minute ferry ride also afforded me an opportunity to photograph Helsinki from a different vantage point.
We felt extremely lucky to have delayed this trip considering we had planned this trip the day before when the weather was overcast and rainy.
Upon arriving this once virtually barren island was picturesque with its wild meadows, lush gardens and natural cliffs. In many ways this quaint little getaway reminded me of Prince Edward Island in Canada.
Given the many cozy cafes, restaurants, parks, fortifications and canons on this small island, it's no wonder Suoemenlinna attracting more than 700, 000 visitors annually!
Suomenlinna, a UNESCO Heritage site, (formerly known as Sveaborg in Swedish or Viapori in Finnish) is an inhabited sea fortress which is actually now considered a part of Helsinki. Popular with both foreigners and tourists alike, its the perfect destination for a lazy afternoon picnic, bite of ice cream or a picturesque destination for a wedding.
Literally, 'Suomenlinna' translates as 'Castle of Finland' and was once a former strategic fortress used to thwart off Russian expansionism.
We enjoyed just randomly wandering around the island marveling at how peaceful and serene the pace of life was compared to Helsinki.
We spotted several couples getting married, children playing under the shade and couples holding hands while sharing ice cream.
By far our favorite activity was just sitting down to enjoy a picnic in a picturesque setting overlooking some local boats in a quieter remote area of the island overlooking a rocky spot by the sea.
For those seeking a summertime day trip from Helsinki, I highly recommend visiting this UNESCO heritage site.
This is the kind of destination where planning several hours to leisurely stroll around the island - with an extended picnic with family and/or friends - is the perfect way to spend a summer day in Finland:
On ihana aurinkoinen iltapäivä nautimme lauttamatkan päässä Helsingistä, Suomen Suomenlinnan vierailulla Sea Fortress, vaeltelee ympäri saarta ja nauttia musta lakritsi jäätelöä osana meidän kävelykierroksen ympäri saarta.

While I constantly try to find the positives in every place I visit, there are few places that I just simply didn't enjoy.
The country of Brunei is one of them.
I went to Brunei back in 2014, three years before I made videos, but my negative experiences in the country have stuck in my mind ever since. That, combined with its absurd human rights laws such as stoning to death LGBT members, I was pushed to make this video.
Have you ever visited any countries that you didn't enjoy? Please share below, I'm curious to know.
