Exploring the best top things to do Berlin in Germany. Time to hit German capital and all the amazing fun things to do in Berlin. When you Backpacking Europe, there is no way you can skip visiting Berlin.
It is very affordable, super stylish, and loaded with the world’s history. Is it even the most important city in the 20ths century. Most of the time we are seriously bored by regular city guides, especially for such big cities like the German capital.
First exploring the Brandenburg Gate where Unter den Linden intersects with Ebertstraße stands what may be Germany’s most recognizable sight.
For first-timers in Berlin, the Brandenburg Gate is obligatory, and it’s charged with real emotion and meaning, as an ever-present landmark during the destruction of the Second World War and the Berlin Wall when it stood at the divide.
Dome of the Reichstag Building the Reichstag building is one of the most important and historic buildings in Berlin. It was constructed to house the Imperial Diet of the German empire.
Sightseeing by Bike Germany’s public transport company Deutsche Bahn operates a bike-sharing system in Berlin. There are also a few private bike rental companies in the city, including Rent a Bike on Grunerstrabe.
Victory Column the Victory Column was built in 1864 after the defeat of Denmark in the Danish-Prussian War. but it would also come to represent a slew of other victories in that era, over Austria and then France in 1870-71. Following these successes an 8.3-meter sculpture of Victoria was added to the top of the column, weighing 35 tons.
The Pergamon Museum, you’ll come face-to-face with epic ancient monuments from the Near East, brought in pieces to Berlin from the 1910s and reconstructed in these galleries.
The 2nd-Century Pergamon Altar is the piece that gives the museum its name, a stairway, and portico on a pedestal adorned with a frieze in high relief portraying scenes from Greek mythology.
Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe Not far from the Brandenburg Gate is the solemn and powerful memorial to the holocaust, designed by the New York architect Peter Eisenman.
Set on what used to be the “death strip of the Berlin Wall” are 2,711 concrete blocks of varying heights, in a grid pattern on an undulating open space that lends the memorial a wavelike form.
The memorial encourages you to interact and reflect, and there’s also an underground gallery; a network of themed rooms offers background on Jewish victims of the holocaust, with biographies, letters and personal effects of some of the victims.

German Park, Ann Arbor
The good people at German Park, a local private glade that holds three very popular biergarten events every year, gave me permission to fly around their latest event on August 29th. This video will give you an opportunity to see the park both before, and during, the festivities. This was a fun video to shoot: it was a challenging environment to set my shots up in (high trees, crowds that I did not wish to fly over) and the staff there were a pleasure to work with.
As far as I can tell, this is the first aerial video of a biergarten or German park festival! As always, please correct me if I am mistaken.
You can learn more about German Park at their web site,
The music accompanying this video is the Dvorak Polka by Kevin MacLeod. You can listen to this track at his Soundcloud page:

What It's Like To Be An Amazon Flex Delivery Driver
Amazon has offered free two-day shipping for Prime members since 2005. As Amazon rolls out a one-day shipping guarantee for its 100 million Prime members, Amazon Flex drivers help solve the company's last mile problem. CNBC spoke to these on-demand contract workers all over the country to find out what it's really like to deliver for Amazon. Watch the video to hear about the pay, pace of work, and how Amazon Flex works.
Is Amazon Prime worth it? For many members, free shipping is a key Amazon Prime benefit that factors into their decision to pay $119 per year for the service. As Amazon starts offering Prime members the added benefit of one-day shipping they're working with on-demand contract drivers to help with this especially labor-intensive and expensive hand-delivery.
We spent a day with Omar Montes, a Flex driver in the San Francisco Bay Area. Omar helped a friend deliver around 46 packages in 3½ hours, for $105. “These are like the good days that make you want to continue doing Amazon. But, you know, there’s obviously bad days too,” Montes said.

The incognito visit of a fascist hierarc in a tiny country town shakes deeply the ruling class and their lack of integrity.
Apulia, 1936.

Paris- Rio The Hand of God and the Paris Hand of Man
Rio de Janeiro, most beautiful city in the world
Rio de Janeiro is the most beautiful city in the world. And by beautiful, I am referring to natural beauty. The city is blessed with numerous mountains, stunning beaches, a lush and expansive forest, as well as a colossal lake to top it all off. That by itself can make anyone fall in love with the city… The succulent local food, festive ambiance, good looking people, and relative affordability are just icing on the cake!
Highlights:
Hike / climb up Pedra da Gavea. By far the highlight of the trip, and maybe even the highlight of my entire life! Warning, though, this hike is not for the unfit nor for those who have fear of heights: Pedra da Gavea sits close to 1 kilometer above sea level, and you’ll be hiking in what seems like a 45 degree angle for more than 2 hours, with a surprisingly scary 15 meter rock climbing part. However, it is one of the most rewarding hikes you’ll ever make: the view from the top is out of this world, and pictures you take there will definitely inundate your social media profiles with likes! The use of a guide is a must, since you will need rock climbing gear to reach the top. We strongly recommend Rio adventures; our guides were extremely helpful, unobtrusive, and came to pick us up directly at our hotel in a taxi! Cost: 280 BRL (less than 80 USD, or about 100 CAD).
Our final destination: On the top of that monolith!
A little rock-climbing was needed before reaching the top.
After a couple of difficult hours, the reward!
Christ the Redeemer at Sunrise. This one is less of a secret; if you think of one image of Rio, it’s probably this one.You have a couple of options here: hike up there (less than 2 hours, medium difficulty), take an enjoyable train ride through the Tijuca forest up to the top (our choice), or hire a private van to take you up there.Getting there: If you will be hiking up, take any bus toParque Lage (near the botanical gardens). If you are taking the train or private van, take any bus going to Cosme Velho (ex: 583 or 584 from Copacabana / Ipanema), and ask the driver where to stop (or follow the hoard of tourists!).Cost: Hike : Less than 30 BRL including the bus ticket. Train: About 50 BRL. Van: A little more expensive than the train. Here is the link for the most up to date prices.
Pão de Açucar at sunset: Another must for anyone visiting Rio. Stunning views of the city. The easy way up is by taking the funicular (about 62 BRL) from the base. If not, you can rock climb your way to the top. That option is quite flexible, as there are varying levels of difficulty (from relatively easy to expert) depending on which side you climb.
Beaches, beaches, and more beaches! Free and easy to reach, the main beaches in Rio are a must:
Ipanema / Leblon: Nicer beaches with a more elegant feel. Set up your HQ near the volleyball nets at Posto 9, and you are set for the day!
Copacabana: The view at Copacabana beach is amazing, but the beach itself is not as nice, and definitely more crowded. Many feel this beach is also less safe than Ipanema or Leblon.
Paris:
“Paris’ grandeur is inspiring but what I love most about the city is its intimacy. Its quartiers (quarters) are like a patchwork of villages, and while it’s one of the world’s major metropolises – with all of the culture and facilities that go with it – there’s a real sense of community at the local shops, markets and cafes that hasn’t changed since my childhood. Yet because every little ‘village’ has its own evolving...”
Rio de Janeiro:
There's no other place like Rio. It's a combination of many things that I find so captivating: walking through parks inside the city and seeing monkeys and toucans; spending the evening catching music jams around Lapa; joining a few friends amid the roaring crowds at Maracanã; or greeting the sunrise (after an early morning or late night) from Copacabana Beach. In moments like these you realize you're hooked.
New York:
“While there are many reasons to fall for New York, I’ve always loved the energy here. There’s so much creativity in the air, with wildly imaginative works filling the city’s galleries and concert halls – not to mention its restaurants, with ever more inventive mash-ups of global cuisines. Despite living for many years in New York, I never tire of exploring the metropolis. You can cross continents with the mere swipe...”
CNN ranks São Paulo as the city with the 4th best nightlife in the world.
1st Ibiza (Spain)
2nd Berlin (Germany)
3rd New York (United States)
4th São Paulo (Brazil)
5th London (England)
6th Barcelona (Spain)
7th Montreal (Canada)
8th Las Vegas (USA)
9th Buenos Aires (Argentina)
10th Bangkok (Thailand)
