We’re starting our day on the BUDA side of the city, eating Hungarian GOULASH (940 HUF) for breakfast with local Hungarian beer at Ildyiko Konyhaja. Next, we walk across the famous chain bridge to get to the PEST side of the city. We make our way to Retro Lángos Bufé a street food stall that serves LÁNGOS (900 HUF), and we ordered it with loads of cream cheese, more cheese and onions. So delicious! We walk to visit the Central Market Hall, which is the largest market in all of Budapest. We browse local Hungarian specialties like the red-hot paprika and canned goose liver. We also head upstairs to sample CHICKEN PAPRIKASH (2000 HUF) and stuffed cabbage rolls (2000 HUF).
After a big lunch we head back toward the other side of the city, visiting the historical castle district and fisherman’s bastion that overlooks the Danube River. After some exploring, we are ready for dessert at the ancient cafe Ruszwurm Confectionary since 1827 for their famous chocolate cake and cream cake (650 HUF each) and coffee (750 HUF).

WE TRIED DIFFERENT FLAVOURS OF HUNGARIAN CHOCOLATE | Budapest, Hungary | The Fluffies Channel
Once in Hungary, you have to try Túró Rudi, a curd snack popular there since 1968. The bar is composed of a thin chocolate-flavored outer coating and an inner filling of túró. The Rudi in the product name comes from the Hungarian rúd, which translates to rod or bar. Túró Rudi can be made in different flavours and sizes.
In August 2018, we went to visit Budapest Hungary. Whenever we go away, we always like to try the countries food and snacks. Based on that, Eric and Christian tried various flavours of popular chocolate bars and Túró Rudi, and then rated them from 1 to 5 bear paws.
The earliest form of Túró Rudi appeared in Russia under the name Cырок (Syrok meaning Syr-cheese curd snack), a rectangular bar of curd, butter and fat mixed together, covered with a dark chocolate coating.
There are versions of Túró in Austria, China, Poland, and Russia.
We also tried Balaton Szelet.
For sure we will try other chocolate bars in Hungary next time.

Pálinka is a traditional fruit brandy in Central Europe with origins from the Transylvania Region. The words pálinka (in Hungarian), pálenka (West Slavic) and pălincă (Romanian) derive from the Slavonic stem paliti, 'to burn, to distill'.
In 2004 the European Union accepted pálinka as a Hungarian specialty, and hence its production is limited to Hungary (and four provinces of Austria for pálinka made from apricots).
Pálinka comes in various fruit flavours: plum, apricot, apple, sour cherry, and pear.
Unicum is a Hungarian herbal liqueur or bitters, drunk as a digestive and aperitif.
