online video laying the childrens ghosts to rest
West Kootenay journalist, poet and historian Sean Arthur Joyce gave a talk at the Revelstoke Museum about the 1869-1948 phenomena known as the Home Children. These were 100,000 penniless children whose parents gave them up to a variety of social agencies, which then sent them to Canada as indentured servants and labourers. They were, for the most part, between the ages of 10 and 16 when they were forced to leave. Joyce's book, Laying the Children's Ghosts to Rest tells the story of these boys and girls, some of whom ended up here in BC. He gave the talk at the Revelstoke Museum & Archives on Tuesday, October 21.

History of Vancouver
History of Vancouver at Year 1919 Vancouver was booming with lumber, business, construction and land. Property values were the highest in North America.
That has not changed. Brokers started the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver to promote property ownership
and lobied the government on behalf of the property owners.
In 1925, the Vancouver Real Estate Listings became on a cooperative system, kind of like the MLS of today. The multiple listing service became a reality in the 1950s, setting standards around North America.
In the 70's, the Vancouver MLS became on of the first computerized systems in Canada. We pioneered the technology. Nearly 90 years ago the Vancouver Real Estate Board was created by ten men...I would like to think we are making them proud.
