Militia fighters in the city of Lugansk moved up heavy equipment including multiple rocket launch systems and artillery to the front where irregular units were opposing the advance of the Ukrainian army on Sunday. Among the armoured units moving through the city's Kombrod district were Grad BM-21 self-propelled launchers and a T-72 main battle tank. Ukraine: its Donbass conflict | VPRO Documentary
In Ukraine, in the region of Donbass there is an ongoing conflict. How did this conflict start and how are people in the Donbass area dealing with this conflict that tears apart families and entire villages? Is Ukraine a divided country where war will destroy regions like the Donbass? A documentary about Ukraine, the conflict in the Donbass region and the people that have to live with it.
For over a year, a dirty battle has been going on in 'the Donbass', an area rich with coal and industry in East Ukraine. More than six thousand people have been killed so far. Jelle talks to the Russian rebels at the front. What kind of people are they? He also visits the Donetsk opera, which has a show every day - war or no war.
In this eight-part travel series the Dutch journalist and author Jelle Brandt Corstius travels through Russia and visits the neighbor countries Latvia, Moldova, Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan. What image do the Russians have of their neighbors and vice versa? What are the relations between the powerful Russia and the other former Soviet republics? And how do the countries around Russia treat their Russian inhabitants? A series about propaganda and identity.
On the Maidan, Kiev´s central square, in spring of 2014 the war started. Thousands of people demanded closer relations with Europe. After weeks of protests, the police intervened. One hundred people died. In Ukraine they are known as the Heavenly Hundred. President Yanukovych fled to Russia and the revolution started. And with the revolution came the war that would split the country in two. Dutch Journalist Corstius talks to people on the street and investigates the status quo and the way the population deals with the changes the country has gone through.
He visits the place in Odessa where on May 2 2014 46 pro-Russian activists died from suffocation in a former trade union building. They were under attack from pro-Ukrainian activists and a fire broke out. Until today it is not clear what caused it. This fire made many Russians leave for Ukraine to join the fight so that the war spread from Crimea to the entire eastern region of Ukraine.

I do not know how in the West, Russians believe the concept of Nazism and fascism as synonyms. When we say Kiev Nazis or fascists from Western Ukraine, we mean the same thing.

Ukraine Crisis: Maidan Square Revisited
It has been three months since a deadly gun battle at the heart of Ukraine's capital that left scores of people dead. A lengthy standoff between anti-government protests and security forces already caught people's attention, but many weren't expecting the bloody confrontation ahead. CCTV's Roee Ruttenberg reports from the square where it all happened.
POW Exchange in East Ukraine: 139 Ukrainian soldiers released outside Luhansk
An exchange of prisoners of war (POW) took place outside the city of Luhansk late on Saturday where 139 Ukrainian soldiers were released in exchange for 52 Russian-backed militants. Some of the government soldiers, who were released in an rural area of the Luhansk region, appeared to be wounded, with some walking on crutches.
139 Ukrainian soldiers have just been released! Among them are servicemen who were captured near Debaltseve Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko wrote in a post to Facebook.
The prisoner exchange came as the United States warned it was considering serious sanctions against Russia following several violations of a second Minsk truce agreed just over a week ago. The Minsk pact envisaged all prisoners would be exchanged, but many more prisoners remain in captivity.

Ukraine: Locals block path of Ukrainian military with BTR-80s
Local residents of Novoaidarsky in Lugansk blocked the route of the Ukrainian military as they attempted to pass through the area on Tuesday. Driving BTR-80 armoured personnel carriers, the residents demanded the Ukrainian military disarm and called for an end to the crisis.
One resident, a woman by the name of Svetlana Gurtovaya, denied being a separatist and said she wants a united Ukraine. Yet she also expressed her belief that the desires and demands of the people of eastern Ukraine are being ignored.

Ukraine used UN-marked helicopters in fights in the East
Fighting erupted in eastern Ukraine Tuesday, resulting in six military and three militia deaths. A crew working for Russian media outlet Life News was also the target of violence, reporting they came under fire from an armored personnel carrier with a Ukrainian flag on it. The crew was in a car marked with the word TV and was documenting the aftermath of the fighting. RT's Irina Galushko has more details on the latest clash in the increasingly dangerous area.

I do not know how in the West, Russians believe the concept of Nazism and fascism as synonyms. When we say Kiev Nazis or fascists from Western Ukraine, we mean the same thing.
Namely, people who are obsessed with Hitler about the superiority of one race or nation over others.
