Jump Evolution - Trip to Chelyabinsk

MULTIPLE METEOR STRIKE IN RUSSIA - OVER 400 INJURED, ROOF COLLAPSED Part 2/2
compilation, part 1:
MOSCOW (AP) — A meteor streaked across the sky over Russia's Ural Mountains on Friday morning, causing sharp explosions and reportedly injuring around 100 people.
Witnesses said that houses shuddered, windows were blown out and cellphones stopped working.
Fragments of the meteor fell in a thinly populated area of the Chelyabinsk region, the Emergency Ministry said in a statement.
Interior Ministry spokesman Vadim Kolesnikov said 102 people had called for medical assistance following the incident, mostly for treatment of injuries from glass broken by the explosions.
Kolsenikov also said about 600 square meters (6,000 square feet) of a roof at a zinc factory had collapsed.

A little over a year into the recession that ended Russia's golden decade of economic growth, the country's rich and poor alike still seem to be reeling.
The recent down-sized Millionaire Fair showed that life for Russia's rich has indeed lost much of its glitz.
And for some of Russia's poor a weekly flea market has become the only way to survive.
STORYLINE:
Russia's rich at the Millionaire Fair (23 October 2009).

This well-off wife is convinced there aren't many poor people in Russia:

But just a short train ride away from the glitz and glamour of Russia's capital is Lianozova.

This creepy concrete bust freaked out passers-by when it was seen bizarrely sitting on the back seat of a car in Sofia, Bulgaria, on February 14. The filmer said: ''He looked comfortable riding on the back seat.'' The concrete scupture is belived to be that of Lenin, or Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov, who ruled neighouring Russia from 1917 to 1924.

Russia: Uncertain future for Stalin bust discovered in Chelyabinsk Region pond
Subscribe to our channel! rupt.ly/subscribe
The remains of a statue depicting former USSR leader Joseph Stalin were found in a pond in the town of Kusa in the Chelyabinsk Region on Saturday.
The discovery occurred amid repair works while the pond was being drained.
Originally 1.5 meters (5 ft.) high, the statue is believed to have been dumped into the pond in 1956 at the height of De-Stalinization.
The future of the bust is still unclear, but ongoing debates between locals and activist suggest it will either be destroyed or placed in a local museum.

Thousands of supporters of the nationalist Russian Liberal Democratic Party took to the streets of Moscow on Wednesday. Party head Vladimir Zhirinovsky led the crowd through the central streets of Tverskaya and Okhotnki Ryad en route to a rallying point outside of the Metropol Hotel, located near the Red Square.
The supporters waved Liberal Democratic Party flags and banners, chanting party slogans such as It's time to listen to LDPR and LDPR is always in the centre.

Troops re-enact Legendary 1941 PARADE
Location: Moscow, Russia

Russian troops marched onto Red Square on Wednesday, in a re-enactment of the historic 1941 parade.
Soldiers dressed in uniforms going back to the times of the 1812 war with France marched first, followed by troops in 1941 Red Army uniforms, accompanied by WWII-era military hardware.
Several WWII veterans who were at the original parade were present at this year's re-enactment.
The parade of November 7, 1941 took place on the anniversary of the Bolshevik revolution, and went ahead despite the growing threat of the Nazi German forces closing in on Moscow.
Red Army soldiers marched across Red Square right before departing for the front. The parade was seen as an inspirational moment for the troops, boosting the moral of the nation.

*****
7th of November 1941:
During the legendary parade on the 7th of November 1941, new tanks clattered into Red Square straight from the railway station and soldiers marched diligently. From the parade they went straight to the frontline which was only a few kilometres away from Moscow. That was the beginning of the counter-attack which stunned the enemy.
The Nazi troops had planned to conquer Moscow by that time. A huge number of orders and medals had been sent from Berlin. The Wehrmacht soldiers wrote home that they would soon take warm quarters. The generals observed the golden Kremlin domes through their binoculars. All of them were wrong in their expectations, military observer Viktor Baranets says.
Over the last few years, I managed to look through several archive documents, both government papers and personal letters. I was impressed by Soviet people's enthusiasm. They were removed from trenches and dugouts in the frontline and sent to Red Square. Just imagine what it cost our tank crews to perform faultlessly in that bitter frost. The army demonstrated all it had at its disposal then. By and large, that parade in Red Square became a powerful moral incentive which helped the Soviet Army to turn the Nazis away from Moscow. The country lives on and marks its festivals. The Kremlin is intact and we are a powerful state. That event can undoubtedly be called historic.
Tank battalions arrived at the parade from Arkhangelsk. The Chelyabinsk factory in the Ural Mountains also sent dozens of new heavy tanks. Those formidable combat vehicles were not fully equipped. The mechanics were given starters and mounted them on only when the tanks were on the train on the way to Moscow. All in all, about 30,000 servicemen and members of the people's volunteer corps took part in the parade, Viktor Baranets says.
I studied a lot of German archive documents, letters and official decrees. The news about the parade thoroughly depressed Hitler. The Nazis realized that Moscow was not suffocated, the Soviet Army ranks were unbroken and the soldiers even marched at parades. All this had a demoralising effect on the Nazi troops. One of the Nazi archive documents contains Goebbels' instruction to strictly forbid circulating any information about the parade among the German troops.
A lot of foreign journalists attended that parade in Red Square and the news about the parade reached every corner of the world. On that day, the conductor of the military band was Vasili Agapkin, the author of the famous Russian patriotic march A Slavic Woman's Farewell. When the parade was over he could not step down from the platform on which he was standing because his boots had frozen to it. He could not say a word either because his lips were cold and would not move. The musicians ran up to him, lifted him from the platform and helped him into the GUM building. The Red Army inspired by the parade delivered devastating blows on the enemy at the approaches to Mozhaisk, Volokolamsk and Maloyaroslavets.
Fifty seven participants in that parade live in Moscow today.
