Reydon to Reydon Smear and Along NCN31 to Reydon Wood then Wangford
Always liked this backroute to Wangford. And now it's become a National Cycle Route, well some of it. However, this means very little apart from adding some nice blue signs to the side of the road. I'm really not sure if that does anything for cycling. Funny what money gets spent on. Or is it? This is another scheme that effectively preaches to the converted. There's nothing here that'll encourage people to use cycling seriously. It's just another holiday scheme and as such useless.

Olympic Torch Relay Reydon on the way to Southwold, Suffolk 5th July 2012.wmv
The Olympic Torch Relay came right past the house this morning. We thought it was going to be really cheesy. Well, it was really, but the sun was shining, everybody from the village came out, and it was a great fun day. Watch out for the police motorbike outriders giving high fives to children (and more than a few adults) as they drove past!
Reydon annual slideshow 25th anniversary by David Moyse 2010
For 25 years, David Moyse prepared and delivered a slideshow of historical events and activities around Reydon and Southwold in Suffolk, England, which was delivered to an appreciative audience in Reydon Village Hall, and was introduced by John Pigneguy.
This was David's 25th presentation, and one which covered various aspects from his shows over the years.
It seemed like a good idea to try and film this to keep a record, and sadly David died a few years later in 2014, at the age of 77, so this will hopefully perpetuate his enterprise.
Apologies if the sound quality is not perfect, but better some, than none at all, and it's nice to be able hear David's Suffolk burr again, and his enormous fount of local knowledge..

Beast from the East .Snowy journey Reydon to Southwold and Pier Feb 28th 2018
The worst of the snow is over, but there's enough left to leave Southwold with a gentle white covering, after temperatures down to -5.
This journey takes in Southwold High Street, South Green, Ferry Road, and on the way back, North Parade, the Pier and Pier Avenue.
From the Old Railway Bridge through Southwold Harbour and up to Southwold
For the first short section, remember the Highway Acts of 1835 and 1878 (ish, can't remember dates!) did not intrinsically ban cycling on paths just those next to roads. Unless there's a bylaw banning it here, I'm free to ride.
Then, the harbour with it's boats and catch. You can usually find some seafood worth buying! Then along the dunes and up to town.
Malcolm's Ride
We greet Malcolm at Southwold Pier, as he completes his West of Ireland to East of England bike ride. In the yellow top is Patrick, who has ridden with Malcolm since Northampton.
GREAT STREET JAZZ
2 guys playing wind instruments -- saxophone and trombone in southwold, Suffolk, UK. Southwold is a great seaside community in Suffolk with a great beach, pier, restaurants, hotles, pubs and boutiques. A real Gem! Recorded these two guys doing great jazz.

Return of the Southwold Christmas swim heroes
The Southwold Christmas swim, which was mercifully short; cold water, big waves and a hail storm.
The Brantingham Batterfest
I wasn't planning on another ride immediately before my summer holiday in Stockport, but my sister was keen, the sun had his hat on and there was a 100% forecast of cake, so I succumbed.
For the route we came up with The Brantingham Batterfest. Unless and until the South Wold estate owner opens up his private road across to Elloughton Dale, the road up Spout Hill is a dead-end and leads nowhere. The only reason then to go up this road is to get stuck into the savage 15% gradients (average 10%).
This climb was used as a sort of masochistic pre-exhaust, immediately before the then more gentle Brantingham Dale climb. However, the training effect was somewhat negated by Chubby stopping halfway up to engage in some foraging. A clever tactic for a rest? Good nutrition management? Not trying hard enough if you can spot a wild raspberry while slogging up an incline? Watch the video and decide for yourself.
