Everyone is welcome and free to visit the library to read, to relax, to meet people and hang out and so on.
We have free Wi-Fi.
If you need access to a computer, a printer or a scanner, for a small fee you can use ours.
If you want to borrow items from the library you do need a library card. Library cards are free for children under 18, for people with disabilities and for senior citizens.
The library has a broad selection of fiction and non-fiction in English and other languages (besides Icelandic), as well as children's books, comics and so on.
You can also borrow ebooks and audiobooks from Rafbókasafnið.
The owner of the card is the only one who may use it.
We continuously host intercultural activities for adults and children. The schedule includes a number of events both for adults and children. Check out our event calendar here on the website or our Facebook Page for the event schedule.

ICELAND TRIP: Reykjavik | City Walking Tour
It's our 3rd Day in Iceland. We didn't plan to stay in Reykjavik for 3 days but we get stock due to snowstorm. We join a city walking tour. It's always a plus to do a tour so you can be familiarize with the culture, history and local stuff.
Probably our number 1 tip if your a tourist and never read anything about the place you are visiting. Its best to join a city walking tour as you are gonna walk through the city and yet you will be knowledgeable of their story as you go along.

Reykjavik City Tour

Dark Deeds - Literature Walks in Reykjavik
A Guided Walking Tour
The guided tour Dark Deeds in Reykjavik starts at our Grófin library, at Tryggvagata 15, every Thursday at 3 pm in June, July and August.
Tickets are also sold at the library in Tryggvagata 15 and on tix.is. No fee for children under 18.
The tour can be booked by appointment for groups of up to 30, for a fee of 40.000 ISK.
Reykjavík City Library has offered literary walking tours, mainly in downtown Reykjavík, since 2003. The goal is first and foremost to promote Icelandic literature in an original and fun way, but also to show the city as a literary site in different times and to cast a new light on our daily surroundings.
The App
The Reykjavík Culture Walks app is a collection of guided walking tours of the city, curated by The Reykjavík City Library, Reykjavík UNESCO City of Literature and other cultural institutions within the city.

Hallgrímskirkja is a Lutheran parish church in Reykjavík, Iceland. At 73 metres, it is the largest church in Iceland and the sixth tallest architectural structure in Iceland after Longwave radio mast.
