Reykjavik, Iceland - The Insider's Guide
HUCK headed to the Icelandic capital of Reykjavik.
In a post-financial crash age, the city's creative community is being pushed out of the 101 district but rampant hotel building.
We meet locals including fashion designer Eyglo, cartoonist Hugleiker Dagsson, illustrator Loa, artist Sara Riel and publisher of The Rekjavik Grapevine Hilmar Gretarsson to get their take.

Is Iceland's Blue Lagoon A Lavish Luxury? | Destination Debunkers
INSIDER's A.C. Fowler heads to Iceland's Blue Lagoon, a natural hot spring. Is it a lavish luxury or an overpriced public pool?
The Blue Lagoon is in Grindavík, a 45-minute drive from Iceland's capital Reykjavík, a quickly growing tourist hot spot. The area is a perfect blend of city and country living.
A.C. tests how crowded it is, if it's worth the $58 admission, and if the lagoon's water and mud really have healing properties.
The Blue Lagoon is one of the most visited destinations in Iceland. 80% of tourists who come to the country trek to the famous thermal waters.
While the physical lagoon is man-made, the natural geothermal waters are sourced from a nearby geothermal field.
The peak season is the summer, so the best time to visit the Blue Lagoon is in the winter.
CEO Grímur Sæmundsen said, To be in the Blue Lagoon and having the Northern Lights, there's nothing that beats it.
The Blue Lagoon also acts as a facility for skin care research, so it makes sense that its biggest selling point is its natural silica mud masks.
Make sure you head to the lagoon early in the day to beat the crowds. Keep it mind that it can be pricey, so make sure you're picking a package that fits your needs. And don't be afraid to lather on the complimentary silica masks.

We Tried Icelandic Foods | How Expensive is Reykjavík?
We are on the hunt to find delicious and traditional Icelandic foods right here in Reykjavik, whilst also giving you an idea on the costs of food and groceries here in Iceland.
First stop we headed to Kaffibrennslan to try or favourite thing ever...coffee of course before heading out to Vagninn on the water to try some street food fish and chips with remoulade pickled mayonnaise sauce.
Next up and the dish we were most excited to try was Lobstersoup from Seabaron as well as their Haddock fish kebab before heading off to the 10-11 grocery store to show you the cost of eggs, milk and bread and whilst we were there we had to try Skyr yoghurt and appelsin soda.
To end our food tour in Reykjavik we made our way to Cafe Loki to try Rye bread icecream and mashed fish on rye bread as well as herron with eggs.
Yes we realise there are a lot of strange Iceland food out there like fermented shark and horse head, in this video we just wanted to show you some delicious foods rather than the weird ones :)
Where we ate:
Coffee Spot: Kaffibrennslan
Fish & Chips: Vagninn
Lobstersoup & Haddock Fish Kebab: Seabaron
Grocery Store: 10-11 Grocery
Rye Bread Icecream: Cafe Loki

Reykjavik Travel Guide
Travel video about destination Reykjavik in Iceland.
Reykjavik is Iceland`s gateway to the world and is one of the smallesThe Hallgrims Kirkja is one of Reykjavik’s main landmarks, a Neo Gothic church that was built between 1945 and 1986. It was named after a famous religious minister and poet of the 17th century, Hallgímur Pétursson. Both its design and large dimensions are impressive. Tjörnin is located in the centre of the city, a wonderful small lake surrounded by spacious parks and the new City Hall is also located there. Krists Kirkja is the city’s main Catholic church and in 1989 the Pope preached within its walls marking the first visit of the Pontificate to Iceland. Narrow elegant bridges span across the splendid ponds of the Botanical Garden, a popular destination for the inhabitants of Reykjavik. However, small forests of conifers are the only real sign of nature on this remote and barren island. Chimneys are a rarity in Reykjavik. The majority of its houses are heated by geothermic water. Indeed, many of its pavements and streets are heated, a convenient asset that saves much money on snow clearance and makes life a lot easier for the local population. In Iceland the summer months are bright but in spring and autumn there are long periods when there is little daylight. July is the time of the famous midnight sun and thanks to the Gulf Stream the island enjoys a relatively temperate climate with cool summers and quite mild winters. Historic sights, hi-tech buildings and the charm of a small town. All this is Reykjavik, a remote metropolis built on fire and ice!t metropolises on Earth. Just over a hundred thousand people live in this the northernmost of all cities that is sometimes referred to as Iceland’s ‘Smokey Bay’.

Made a quick cute video of our visit in Iceland.

Iceland - Blue Lagoon
The most famous lagoon in Iceland, the Blue Lagoon and it's geothermal waters are the perfect place to unwind from a day of adventure around the island.
The Blue Lagoon is one of Iceland’s most popular attractions. The geothermal waters and black volcanic rocks create startling scenery that is truly unique to Iceland. The water is full of minerals, silica and algae and is especially good for the skin and relaxation. In addition to soaking and swimming in the pool, the Blue Lagoon offers in-water massage treatments, saunas and steam rooms and access to a cafe. A few hours of relaxation soaking in the Blue Lagoon is essential to any Iceland visit, and its location between Reykjavik and the airport makes it an easy addition to any trip.

In the 4th episode of Circling Iceland we use Reykjavik as our home base and took on the challenge to do as much as possible in 48h - so we start very early each day to make the most our of it. Our goal is to show you the best things to do in Reykjavik one day and the best sights along the golden circle the other day.
By using the daylight to the max (only doable from late spring - early autumn!) and part of the night we were able to squeeze in even some extra activities in the Highlands, a festival and some Hot Springs. Please be aware that we planned this itinerary way ahead with the help of locals: we had a tough, very strict schedule in order to make it happen in 48h- if you want to do the same we recommend to take 2 more days to be able to enjoy it!!
Come with us as we explore the center of Reykjavik with its many sights, the nightlife, the blue lagoon and the best sights along the golden circle!
Even though we finished our trip this won’t be the last episode - in the upcoming episode we talk about everything you need to know about traveling Iceland yourself!
Traveling Icelands Ring Road is the perfect way to get to know the country on and off the tourist paths. Therefore we took about 2 weeks to get to know Iceland properly by exploring waterfalls, canyons, hot springs, glacier caves, black beaches and of course the stunning coastlines all around the island finishing off in Reykjavik with the countries biggest music festival called „Iceland Airwaves“
We’ll show you which places to visit & our favorite things to do in Iceland in the upcoming videos and how to plan & organize your very own road trip in Iceland. Make sure to subscribe & activate notification to not miss any episode!
