Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.

Morrow, GA, USA Trail System, as of 9-24-2011.
Caution, see updates below!
Morrow, Georgia has a small but helpful trail system in the northwest side of the city that connects neighborhoods with destinations such as Clayton State University, the Federal and State Archives, and Wal-Mart. A bus stop can be reached just east of Jonesboro Road (SR 54) and Westwood Way. In the future, a tunnel will take trail users under SR 54 for ease of access to Clayton State and the bus stop and a rail station which will will be built if commuter rail service is established.
This video is for informational purposes only. If you start getting motion sickness, look away and listen to the narration. Use the trail at your own risk. I'm not responsible for anything that happens to you if you use the trail system, but I hope that you enjoy it.
Update as of 11-5-2012. The tunnel has been completed, but the connecting trail on the west side of Ga. 54 is not in place yet. To use the tunnel from Westwood, take the sidewalk southbound to just before the tunnel, and ride or walk through the grass to where the trail to the tunnel entrance begins. Ride through the tunnel, and you will come out into the area where the future rail station will be. You can use the roads and walkways in that area to reach Clayton State Boulevard or North Lake Drive.
Update 11-2-2017
The section of the trail from Graceland Circle and Morrow Road northbound to the section of the trail that gotes to Reynolds Road is closed, due to problems with the wooden sections of the trail. Use of the trail through there is prohibited, according to the City of Morrow website. That section appears in the video from 9:45 to 12:22 in this video.
Riders can use Continental Circle and Oakridge Drive to travel north from Morrow Road to an open section of the trail system. Use extreme caution crossing the bridge for Morrow Road over Jester's Creek. Again, I'm not responsible if you crash or have anything bad happen when using any of the streets or trail sections shown here.

Battle of Gettysburg, First Day
The First Day of the Battle of Gettysburg during the American Civil War took place on July 1, 1863, and began as an engagement between isolated units of the Army of Northern Virginia under Confederate General Robert E. Lee and the Army of the Potomac under Union Maj. Gen. George G. Meade. It soon escalated into a major battle which culminated in the outnumbered and defeated Union forces retreating to the high ground south of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
The first-day battle proceeded in three phases as combatants continued to arrive at the battlefield. In the morning, two brigades of Confederate Maj. Gen. Henry Heth's division (of Lt. Gen. A.P. Hill's Third Corps) were delayed by dismounted Union cavalrymen under Brig. Gen. John Buford. As infantry reinforcements arrived under Maj. Gen. John F. Reynolds of the Union I Corps, the Confederate assaults down the Chambersburg Pike were repulsed, although Gen. Reynolds was killed. By early afternoon, the Union XI Corps had arrived, and the Union position was in a semicircle from west to north of the town. The Confederate Second Corps under Lt. Gen. Richard S. Ewell began a massive assault from the north, with Maj. Gen. Robert E. Rodes's division attacking from Oak Hill and Maj. Gen. Jubal A. Early's division attacking across the open fields north of town. The Union lines generally held under extremely heavy pressure, although the salient at Barlow's Knoll was overrun.

Harriet JACOBS
Harriet Jacobs' autobiography, written under the pseudonym Linda Brent, details her experiences as a slave in North Carolina, her escape to freedom in the north, and her ensuing struggles to free her children. The narrative was partly serialized in the New York Tribune, but was discontinued because Jacobs' depictions of the sexual abuse of female slaves were considered too shocking. It was published in book form in 1861. (Summary by Elizabeth Klett).

Downhill mountain biking
Downhill mountain biking is a genre of mountain biking practiced on steep, rough terrain that often features jumps, drops, rock gardens and other obstacles. Downhill bikes are heavier and stronger than other mountain bikes and feature front and rear suspension with over 8 inches of travel, to glide quickly over rocks and tree roots. In competitive races, a continuous course is defined on each side by a strip of tape. Depending on the format, riders have a single or double attempt to reach the finish line as fast as possible, while remaining between the two tapes designating the course. Riders must choose their line by compromising between the shortest possible line and the line that can be traveled at the highest speed. If a rider leaves the course by crossing or breaking the tape they must return to the course at the point of exit, unless they do not gain a time advantage from crossing the tape, in which case they can continue with their run. Riders start at intervals, often seeded from slowest to fastest. Courses typically take two to five minutes to complete and winning margins are often less than a second. Riders are timed with equipment similar to that used in downhill skiing.
