Rhuddlan Castle (Wales)
Tour of Rhuddlan Castle - 28/4/18
Music by Francisco de la Torre
Rhuddlan Castle (Welsh: Castell Rhuddlan) is a castle located in Rhuddlan, Denbighshire, Wales. It was erected by Edward I in 1277, following the First Welsh War.
Much of the work was overseen by master mason James of Saint George. Rhuddlan, which was not completed until 1282, was built concurrently with Flint Castle, at a time when King Edward I of England was consolidating his conquest of Wales. It was temporarily his residence, and his daughter, Elizabeth, is presumed to have been born there.

Rhuddlan Castle Rebuilt
I used the game Stronghold 2 to re-construct Rhuddlan castle from Wales U.K. It shows the castle layout as well as highlighting some things from the medieval ages, if not all from this time period. Music at beginning from the Soundtrack 'Greatest video game music' performed by London Philharmonic Orchestra, #13 The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Theme.
Motovlogging History: Rhuddlan Castle - Wales
For centuries, Rhuddlan had been a fiercely contested strategic location leading to much bloodshed. Edward’s muscle power triumphed long enough to build a muscle-bound symmetrical castle, showcasing the latest in ‘walls-within-walls’ technology. Edward I needed access to the sea to keep his castle supplied so he diverted the River Clwyd to provide a deep-water channel for ships. The remains of a defended river gate still exist in the outer ring of the walls.
The castle also played a seminal role in Welsh history: it was here that a new system of English government was established over much of Wales by the Statute of Rhuddlan (1284) – a settlement that lasted until the Act of Union in 1536. After the Civil War the castle was rendered untenable – hence its present condition.

Rhuddlan is a town, community and electoral ward in the county of Denbighshire within the historic boundaries of Flintshire, on the north coast of Wales. It is situated to the south of the coastal town of Rhyl and overlooks the River Clwyd. The town gave its name to the Welsh district of Rhuddlan from 1974 to 1996. At the 2001 Census, the population was 4,296, decreasing to 3,709 at the 2011 census.
Rhuddlan has a longer history than the castle fortress built following Edward I's conquest of Wales. Prior to Norman occupation of lower Gwynedd, the Perfeddwlad, Rhuddlan was the site of a Welsh cantref and served as the seat of government and capital of Gwynedd for the Welsh king Gruffydd ap Llywelyn (1007 – August 5, 1063), whose family may have been the traditional Welsh lords of Rhuddlan for generations.
The town is known for the ruins of Rhuddlan Castle, built by King Edward I from 1277 to 1282, and for the site of another castle at Twthill, built by the Norman Robert of Rhuddlan about 1072. The town was also the location where Edward I signed the Statute of Rhuddlan, laying down the way by which the Principality of Wales, created by the princes of Gwynedd, was to be governed.
Rhuddlan railway station was part of the Vale of Clwyd Railway until it closed in the 1960s. In 2001, the A525 bypass road was completed, easing access to Rhyl, and since then the centre of Rhuddlan has been redeveloped.
( Rhuddlan - UK ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting Rhuddlan . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Rhuddlan - UK
