We rented a car and stayed in Vale do Capão. With a car you will be able to visit more places on your own, but keep in mind that some parts of the road from Salvador to Chapada Diamantina are bad. The same counts for the roads in the park itself.
Places as Cachoeira da Fumaça, Cachoeira Riachinho, Morro do Pai Inácio and Poço Azul you can easily visit by yourself. For a multi-day hike in Vale do Pati I would recommend Calango Trekking. They have guides who speak English, Portuguese and Spanish.
We visited the park in August, when dry season just started. As you can see in the video, some waterfalls are really small because of this, but also without the waterfalls you will have amazing views.

Waterfall Road Trip in Brazil
The waterfall of Riachinho has refreshing cascading water, natural water slides, hydro massages and a nice swimming area. Cachoeira do Riachinha is located in Vale do Capão, a village in the Chapada Diamantina National Park. The Capão village has a wonderful weekend market with lots of unique handmade jewelry and art.
The dark coloration of the water is due to decomposing organic matter from the rocky soil of the Chapada Diamantina, rich in tannic, iron and humic acid. Despite the coca-cola color the water is very clean. Video 22

The Chapada Diamantina National Park (Portuguese: Parque Nacional da Chapada Diamantina) is a national park in the Chapada Diamantina region of the State of Bahia, Brazil. The terrain is rugged, and mainly covered by flora of the Caatinga biome.
The park is classed as IUCN protected area category II (national park). It has the objectives of preserving natural ecosystems of great ecological relevance and scenic beauty, enabling scientific research, environmental education, outdoors recreation and eco-tourism
The Best of Brazil .
The region became famous during the 19th century for the Diamond exploration, that lasted until 1990, when the National Park was finally founded, considered today one of the most beautiful National Parks in Brazil.
Morro do Pai Inácio
One of the most well known and popular of the Chapada Diamantina’s attractions, the Morro do Pai Inácio, has an altitude of 1,120m and is easy to get to. This popular tourist attraction in the Parque Nacional da Chapada Diamantina, is found in the region of Palmeiras, and the view from the top of the mountain is truly unforgettable. 250m from the top of the Morro do Pai Inácio you can see the Morro do Camelo, the Vale do Capão and the Morrão, as well as being the spot for one of the Chapada Diamantina’s classic postcard shots: the sunset of the Morro do Pai Inácio.
It is relatively easy to get to the Morro do Pai Inácio in the Chapada Diamantina. The trail is along the edge of the BR-242, about 27km from Palmeiras and 26km from the town of Lençóis.
Poço do Diabo
Poço do Diabo is a Waterfall formed by rio Mucugezinho with about 20 meters tall and has option Rappelling and Zip Lining with 70 meters in length. The high iron concentration is responsible for the dark reddish color of the water. Ponds depth varies 2 meters to 4 meters, it is great for swimming.

Cachoeira do Mosquito - Chapada Diamantina
Visitem a Chapada Diamantina!!!

#trekking #turismo #Bahia #trilha
Linda demais!!!

Chapada Diamantina National Park Tours Video
Chapada Diamantina National Park Tours Video - The regions unique natural beauty and the tranquility of its small colonial towns have attracted a steady trickle of Brazilian and foreign travelers for several decades; some have never left.
These introduced residents, moved by the degradation of the environment and depletion of the wild-animal population, spearheaded an active ecological movement in direct opposition to the extractive mentality of diamond miners and many locals. After six years of bureaucratic battles, biologist Roy Funch helped convince the government to create the Parque Nacional da Chapada Diamantina in 1985.

Chapada Diamantina - Bahia
Cachoeira da Fumaça, Parque Nacional da Chapada Diamantina, Bahia
My third and final day in Parque Nacional da Chapada Diamantina.
Fortunately, I would be able to spend more time with my German friends and our great guide Enrique.
After a two hour hike, we would experience the second tallest waterfall in Brazil, Cachoeira da Fumaça. 1100 feet in elevation would allow for some amazing landscape views. Of course, I was far too timid to get close to the edge, but Enrique got me the video I was too cowardly to get myself! The trail there and returning was beautiful and I was amazed to see so many flowering plants along the way.
Our last stop before returning to Lençóis would be Cachoeira do Riachinho. This was a fun little waterfall where we were able to relax after a long day of hiking.
The perfect way to end my day was dinner with my German friends at one of the best restaurants in Lençóis, Lampião Culinária Nordestina.
After three full, fun and exciting days it was time to board my bus for the Salvador bus station where I should catch my flight to Maceio, AL. -spoiler alert: I almost miss this flight!
Thank you all so much for watching. I hope some of you find this helpful if you are considering to visit here. Please feel free to ask questions and comment. I respond to everyone.
See you all soon!
