China motorcycle tour from Thailand
We start in Thailand, head through Laos & the ride into China
On the Road from Shilin (石林) to Kunming (昆明) (Bicycle Tour in Yunnan, China, Dec., 2003)
I did bicycle touring in Yunnan, China on Dec. 2003.
Electric bus ride in Kunming, China.
Half of China's Public bus is powered by environment friendly electricity. It was quite boring day here in Kunming because no one speaks English. Roads were not clean like Singapore/Malaysia. Quite hard to find any halal restaurant. In China I was only eating boring bengali foods in a muslim hotel. everyday they served same food (fake chinese egg in breakfast, fish at lunch, duck in the dinner ) :(
Kunming Tour Pals Inn
If shopping is on the agenda, the Kunming Tour Pals Inn is strategically located to access Kunming's shopping precinct. Kunming city centre is within a 10 minute drive from the apartment complex.
Yunnan Astronomical Observatory is within driving distance of the Kunming Tour Pals Inn. Kunming Wujiaba International Airport (KMG) is a 20 minute drive from the apartment complex. Guests can explore the district using the apartment complex's bikes for rent.
I'm Surprised More Backpackers Don't Travel to North of Laos. It's Stunning.
Talia and I rent a motorbike in Phongsali and drive it over 4 hours north to the Laos China border known as Lantouy International Checkpoint. Along the way, we see magnificent scenery including beautiful rice fields, remote villages, and cute puppies. We even stop to eat with a large family next to a fuel pump at a gas station.
It's rainy season in Laos, so that in combination with our frequent stops knock us off schedule. Unsure if we will make it, a decision has to be made wether to go for the border, or turn back early.

hotel in DALI is cosy and clean. we are contented hence we would highly recommend this place. hotel provides hotel transfer from the train station at 30rmb ONLY! our initial plan was to rent bikes and tour around Er Hai but we reached Dali at 2pm (not according to schedule) so we took the driver's offer to fetch us around. i like this driver :) would recommend if youre doing to Dali.

driver dropped us off at Dali Old Town. explored a little then hunt for dinner. Bai dinner which i would recommend ! our feets are not cooperating so we took a cab back to the hotel.

Xian’s GREAT WALL!
Just kidding. Xi'an does not have it's own Great Wall. It has a City Wall. This wall surrounds the inner square of Xian, China. It is one of the few remaining city walls around. They maintain and restore it but a lot of it was not damaged. I had the opportunity to rent a bike for two hours to ride around the proximity of the wall. You pass by the train station and there are several entrances to get into the wall. There are also entrances that are a little less common but I am sure the locals know where to sneak in. Unfortunately, I did not take any risks this time. Got to play it safe in the land of unknown. Please enjoy and let me know if you have ever been here!
