Rideau Canal & Waterway Jones Falls Locks Ontario Canada. Fascinating!!
Jones Falls, where the boats go up or down the river. A special kind of water life called a lock.
How the lock works?
- boats in
- gate close
- water release in the lock chamber
- as the water rise, the boats in lock chamber rise as well
- If the water level in the lock chamber is the same level as canal above then, gate open
Same as going down, but instead of filling in water, they let out the water
Boats rise and fall almost 60 feet via a set of four canal locks, and a dam. It was built with large sandstone blocks that were quarried approximately 2.5 miles inland from the north end of the lake, near Elgin, Ontario.
Jones Falls is the oldest continuously operated canal in North America. Most of the locks are still operated by hand, using the same mechanisms that were used to operate the locks in 1832.
The Rideau Canal is a series of rivers, lakes and connecting locks and canals that form a continuous waterway from Kingston to Ottawa, in eastern Ontario, Canada.
Very fascinating with locks. It’s amazing to see the boats slowly rise in a lock when being filled with water. And it just as amazing as the boats go down as the water let out.
The park is beautifully maintained. There are picnic tables and several historic buildings to visit. Also, a short walk takes you to a curved stone dam that was the largest in the world when it was built.
It is always a pleasure to visit this historic park

CANADA FISHING TRIP ????????
We went to Canada and did a little bit of fishing! We didn't catch any monsters but we did catch a lot! We eat fish like crazy!! The walleye was out of this world!! First day I left my camera gear at camp!! My bad!! Second day me and my brother Dan went to a chain of lakes and fished out of a canoe. Then that night I didn't get anything recorded, it was crazy windy. The last day the camera audio didn't work in the morning....stupid me. Then that night I got a couple fish on camera! Hope y'all enjoy! The shore lunch is the best!

Ottawa City Guide: Parliament Hill, ByWard Market and CF Rideau Centre Mall
We spent a day touring the Capital of Canada, Ottawa, as we toured Parliament Hill, ByWard Market and the CF Rideau Centre Mall.
We started off the day by exploring ByWard market and its numerous restaurants, shops and street stalls. We had lunch at The Aulde Dubliner, and the kids loved it! The spacious seating and laid back early afternoon vibe made it quite welcoming for our crew of 5!
We continued our day in Ottawa at the CF Rideau Centre mall, which is a surprisingly good and fun mall! The Disney Store kept the kids entertained for some time and let them blow off some much needed steam - needed for me, that is. ;)
We topped it off with some ice cream and more shopping.
We then made our way to the Supreme Court of Canada and finally to Ottawa's Parliament Hill, one of Canada's most iconic set of buildings. We got unlucky as it started to pour just as we made it... But we made the best of it, snapping a couple of pictures and explaining to Ava what the Parliament is all about.
All in all, everyone of us enjoyed Ottawa and we can't wait to return.
We will have another Ottawa video coming up that will be featuring the Canada Science and Technology Museum, we couldn't fit it here since we spent way too much time there!
Don't forget to give this video a thumbs up if you enjoyed and to subscribe for more travel content!

About us: We are Daniel, Robyn, Ava, Rose and Ella, and together we are The Go To Family. We love to travel! We also love food, exploring historical sites and, of course, doing loads of fun things together as a family.
In our videos, you will see me and Robyn tackle every obstacle that traveling with kids throws at us. We do traveling almost exactly the same way we did before having kids, it just takes a little bit more planning these days. The result, however, is simply more fun! It's also very rewarding to be able to show the kids new cultures and live new experiences with them at the same time. Our mission is to inspire other Millennials to travel with kids.
Our 7-year-old daughter, Ava, also has her own YouTube channel. Feel free to check it out right here:

Centre-ville Rideau
