Hamilton Riff Raff
This eighteen minute documentary show cases the absolute zoo that is the night life on the streets, the CBD party zone, in the wee city of Hamilton, New Zealand, at two-thirty on an average Saturday morning in Winter.
Your hosts, Marlon, and his beautiful camera operator in a wheel chair, Sarah, careen about town, honking a horny, and generally exclaiming at the absolute ridiculousness of it all!
Obviously it's not our usual scene! Tonight we are tucked up in our warm beds as we prefer!
I'm posting this exactly 7 days after it was shot, raw and unedited. Last weekend we went down the rabbit hole to a splendid super sized birthday party in a city night club, and when we came out we were shocked back to the reality of life on the surface. This is what we saw.
Ya'll miss the part where I wish we carried on shooting covertly on the night bus service home, which would have featured the bus driver threatening to throw us off the bus! All because i loudly expressed my dismay that the bus driver was driving dangerously, fangin' the bus too fast around corners and near toppling the wheel chair! In the end the on-board security guard told both me and the driver to shut up and that was the end of that.
Please note, neither Sarah or I were under the influence of alcohol that night. WHo does that? Goes to a massive party and doesn't drink!? Well, that's us, proudly alcohol free.
Enjoy.

Rocky horror in Hamilton - Roadside Stories
A statue in Hamilton pays tribute to former resident Richard O'Brien, creator of the kitschy, gender-bending 1970s musical The rocky horror show. The statue depicts Riff Raff, the character played by O'Brien in the movie version, which became a cult hit. A 1986 New Zealand production of the musical famously featured former prime minister Robert Muldoon as the narrator.
