Rimu Walk Tikorangi The Jury Garden Taranaki New Zealand
Petrochemical development around us is impacting ever more heavily. Heavy transport started before 7.30am this Saturday morning. At times during the day, there is a heavy vehicle movement past us every 60 to 90 seconds. The noise is exacerbated by a relatively steep hill with a sharp turn at right angles at the bottom of the hill which means the trucks have to brake, stop and then change gears as they gradually pick up speed again.

-- About this video --
At the moment we are staying in Fox Glacier on the South Island West Coast and one of the awesome things to do in Fox Glacier is to go to one of New Zealand’s most reflective lakes, Lake Matheson.
As soon as we get to Lake Matheson, which is a 3-minute drive out of Fox Glacier town, we do the Lake Matheson Walk to the jetty where we will get the best views of this reflective lake in New Zealand
The walk goes through ancient rainforest around the merimeter of Lake Matheson was a couple of views of the lake along the way. The view we are aiming for is that of the jetty with perfect reflections of the Southern Alps. That’s what makes Lake Matheson one of the best lakes in New Zealand.
After doing the Lake Matheson walk, we treat ourselves to some food at the Lake Matheson Cafe with views of the Southern Alps behind us. Then as we head back to our accommodation at the Ivory Towers we bump into a friend who’s also travelling New Zealand so we join them for pizza night at the Bigfoot Bar.
So what do you think of Lake Matheson near Fox Glacier? Would you make it a pitstop for your New Zealand trip?
