With a history of bringing in consistent, quality waves, Domes Beach is a popular choice for surfers of all skill levels in Rincon Puerto Rico. During the surfing season, Domes Beach can get pretty crowded with local and visiting surfers, which may be intimidating for those who are less skilled or less familiar with the break. Domes is also the site of the annual Corona Pro Surf Contest which brings the island’s best surfers to Rincon to compete every February.

What to Do in Rincon, Puerto Rico [Art, Beaches, Beer and More]
What is there to do in Rincón, Puerto Rico? There are a lot more activities in Rincon than just surfing.
Today we’ll take you to our favorite spots in Rincon. We’ll visit the Rincon Art Walk in the main plaza of the town and have a couple of beers at a local brewery called Rincón Beer Company.
Our next stop is over at Steps beach, we’ll tell you about the Reserva Marina Tres Palmas and from there we’ll take you to the Rincon Lighthouse called “Faro de Punta Higuera” and the Parque Pasivo right in Punta Higüera.
And we take you to visit Domes beach. This is one of our favorite spots in Rincón. Playa Domes is one of the most popular surfing spots all over the island, and is named after a nearby inactive nuclear power plant!

Rincon, Puerto Rico two months after Hurricane Maria. This drive is from Domes beach to near the plaza. Everyone has been working hard to clean up this town and I think we've all done an amazing job so far! The island is growing back faster than we can haul off the wreckage! We live in a beautiful place and it's inspirational to live through the rebuilding and rebirth of such a strong town. We still have a long way to go to but this is where we're at now and believe me, it's way better than it was. The video has been sped up slightly for time's sake. Many people want to see how Rincon looks right now so I figured I would show you by driving around and recording it.

Puerto Rico after Hurrican Maria - Villa Cofresí Hotel in Rincón
3 weeks after Hurricane Maria devastated my father's homeland of Puerto Rico, my husband, Dr. Nathan Goldfein and I went on a medical relief trip to the island. While we were there we stayed at a little hotel in Rincón called Villa Cofresí. The hotel was closed because of damages from the hurricane, but because we were doing relief work they agreed to rent us a room. Every day after the hurricane, people from the community made their way to the hotel where the owners, Sandra Y. Caro and her husband Tito, served breakfast and dinner to anyone who needed it, free of charge. They made ice for diabetic neighbors to keep their insulin cool. Despite their own serious losses, they gave and gave and gave and asked for nothing in return. The hotel is clean and comfortable (we even had A/C!) with clean water and wonderful people.
As you will see in this video they are working hard to reopen as soon as possible. If you are thinking of a trip to Puerto Rico please consider Villa Cofresí as a wonderful place to stay for your trip.
