Ringwood is an historic market town and civil parish in Hampshire, England, located on the River Avon, close to the New Forest and northeast of Bournemouth. Ringwood has a history dating back to Anglo-Saxon times, and has held a weekly market since the Middle Ages. The town of Ringwood is situated in the southwest of Hampshire, on the border with Dorset.
Ringwood is a town on the east bank of the River Avon in Hampshire. The parish includes the hamlets of Poulner, Hangersley, Hightown, Crow, Kingston, and Bisterne. Ringwood has a weekly market in the traditional market place. A cattle market ran until 1989 in the Furlong, which is now home to a Waitrose supermarket, coffee shops and fashion outlets. Ringwood was noted as the second most expensive market town in England in July 2008
Ringwood is the home of the Ringwood Brewery, which produces a variety of cask ales and runs five pubs in the local area, such as the Inn on the Furlong in Ringwood. Ringwood brewery also produces a variety of wines. It was recently taken over by Marston's Brewery, who plan to keep the brewery and all its brands, but lease out its tied public houses.
The main road through Ringwood is the A31, which runs west to Dorchester and east to Southampton via the New Forest. A bypass of the town was completed in two stages; the first to the west in the 1940s. Ringwood railway station opened in 1847. It lay on the Southampton and Dorchester Railway. In 1862 the Ringwood, Christchurch and Bournemouth Railway created a new link with Christchurch. The line to Christchurch was closed in 1935, and the station ceased operating when the Southampton and Dorchester Railway line was closed in 1964.

Ringwood Razorback
Ale Degustation presents English Bitter: Ringwood Razorback
Brewed by: Ringwood Brewery (Marston’s)
A fresh face for an old favourite. Ringwood Razorback is brewed to the same recipe as our famous Best Bitter which has been revered for its quality since 1978. This easy drinking thirst quencher 3.8% bitter is perfect for all occasions.
With an ideal balance of hoppy happiness and citrus fruit, our classic Razorback is plenty refreshing to hit the spot. Razorback is best enjoyed in relaxed surroundings. Goes well with salt and vinegar and pork scratchings.
The name Razorback is in homage to our legendary brewery boar, and our symbol since our foundation in 1978.

Ringwood Brewery:
Ringwood Brewery was founded by Peter Austin in 1978, a man who is revered as the father of British Micro-brewing.
Ringwood Brewery's first brewhouse was in a former bakery in the old station yard brewing Best Bitter and Fortyniner for a handful of local customers. 1979 saw the production of Old Thumper, which has since become the flagship brew.
In 1986, having outgrown the Minty's yard premises, the brewery moved to its present site, ironically the location of the old Tunks' Brewery which ceased trading
in 1821.
Today the brewery is able to produce circa 40,000 barrels of its renowned and distinctive beers. In addition to Best, Fortyniner, and Old Thumper, we now brew the blonde Boondoggle and the deliciously warming XXXX Porter.
