Cozy A-Frame Cabin in the Redwoods - Houses for Rent in Cazadero, California, United States
Enjoy peace, quiet, and beautiful views in Cazadero.
For each rental, $50 will be donated to Raphael House, a San Francisco organization whose goal is to help at-risk families achieve stable housing and financial independence.
The space
This little a-frame cabin would make a productive retreat for an artist, writer, or musician, or a romantic getaway. Surrounded by redwoods on a private road in Cazadero, my cabin is an hour and forty-five minutes north of San Francisco: a roughly ten-minute drive to the beautiful Sonoma Coast, and just fifteen minutes to Guerneville and wine country in the other direction. Head west and you’ll hit the charming town of Duncans Mills; go east to Monte Rio, and catch a movie at the historic Rio Theater.
The full bed sleeps one or two comfortably. No TV or microwave; yes record player, wood-burning stove, equipped kitchen, and lots of cookbooks. The backyard is sunny and sloping with a view. There’s a table and bench on the deck for al fresco dining. And there’s speedy wireless Internet, too.
Other things to note
The house is small, so please keep your party size to one or two.
The bed is a cozy full size, and the mattress is memory foam. If you prefer a luxuriously large and super firm bed, this may not be the place for you!
The house has been lovingly restored, and continues to be. But it's a work in progress, so please don't expect sleekness and perfection: the fridge lives on the deck and on the smaller side (4.6 cubic feet to be exact), and there's no freezer; the bathroom light is a lamp you have to turn on. If you’re the sort of person who might find these quirks endearing, this might just be the place for you. If all that sounds uncomfortable and horrible, it might, unfortunately, not. Any questions, please ask me!
** ATTN GUESTS BOOKING FOR THE WINTER (JAN & FEB) ** The cabin is heated by wood stove, two small space heaters, and lots of blankets. If you prefer central heating, please search out other accommodations on Airbnb. This is not the place for you!
And a word of warning about the weather: Please note that Cazadero is the 2nd wettest city in California! In the woods that means possible power outages, and in an A-frame, that means the rain can be quite loud against the roof. Travel insurance is highly recommended; last-minute cancellations due to weather will not be accepted.

Summer in Guerneville
Fr. Joseph Fessio, SJ, reflects on the founding of Ignatius Press, the Press's place in the Church, and what's happening in the life of the Church today while at the Ignatius Press retreat house in Guerneville, CA.
Bohemian Grove Exposed!
Every July, some of the richest and most powerful men in the world gather at a 2,700 acre campground in Monte Rio, Calif., for two weeks of heavy drinking, super-secret talks, druid worship (the group insists they are simply revering the Redwoods), and other rituals.
Their purpose: to escape the frontier culture, or uncivilized interests, of common men.
The people that gather at Bohemian Grove — who have included prominent business leaders, former U.S. presidents, musicians, and oil barons — are told that Weaving Spiders Come Not Here, meaning business deals are to be left outside. One exception was in 1942, when a planning for the Manhattan Project took place at the grove, leading to the creation of the atom bomb.
A spokesperson for Bohemian Grove say the people that gather there share a passion for the outdoors, music, and theater.
The club is so hush-hush that little can be definitively said about it, but much of what we know today is from those who have infiltrated the camp, including Texas-based filmmaker Alex Jones. In 2000, Jones and his cameraman entered the camp with a hidden camera and were able to film a Bohemian Grove ceremony, Cremation of the Care. During the ceremony, members wear costumes and cremate a coffin effigy called Care before a 40-foot-owl, in deference to the surrounding Redwood trees.
Bohemian Grove's spokesperson calls the ceremony a traditional musical drama celebrating nature and summertime. The spokesperson also said that while Jones' comments are inaccurate, the footage is real.
Another infiltrator, Spy magazine writer Philip Weiss, posed as a guest for seven days in 1989, when the waiting list was 33 years long and the grove had several thousand members. Weiss published the article Inside Bohemian Grove, writing: You know you are inside the Bohemian Grove when you come down a trail in the woods and hear piano music from amid a group of tents and then round a bend to see a man with a beer in one hand ... urinating into the bushes. This is the most gloried-in ritual of the encampment, the freedom of powerful men to pee wherever they like, a right the club has invoked when trying to fight government anti-sex discrimination efforts and one curtailed only when it comes to a few popular redwoods just outside the Dining Circle.
Former President Bill Clinton once told a heckler, The Bohemian club! Did you say Bohemian club? That's where all those rich Republicans go up and stand naked against redwood trees right? I've never been to the Bohemian club but you oughta go. It'd be good for you. You'd get some fresh air.
The Sonoma County Free Press, which has published investigative stories on the grove since at least the 1980s, says activities include plays and comedy shows in which women are portrayed by male actors, and Lakeside Talks, in which high-ranking officials speak about information not available to the public. The group calls them public interest talks.
Protests take place at the Bohemian Grove nearly ever year. This year's protest is organized by the California State Greens and endorsed by other social activist groups.
Bohemian Grove's 2011 retreat begins in mid-July. We don't suggest any infiltrators try to make their way through the entrance, guarded by camp valets and redwoods some 200 feet in height. It didn't end too well for the last Vanity Fair editor who tried it.
HEARST CASTLE TOUR! VLOG! Day 6 - JAN 28 -GRAND CALIFORNIA ADVENTURE TRIP 2015

We check out of the Best Western Plus Victorian Inn in Monterey and grabbed some of there complimentary continental breakfast. Before our drive down the coastal Highway 1 we check out the sites on 17-Mile Drive.
17-Mile Drive is a scenic road through Pebble Beach and Pacific Grove on the Monterey Peninsula in California, much of which hugs the Pacific coastline and passes famous golf courses, mansions and scenic attractions, including the Lone Cypress, Bird Rock and the 5,300-acre Del Monte Forest of Monterey Cypress trees. At the north end, a portion of the early route through Pacific Grove begins at the intersection of Del Monte Blvd and Esplanade Street. The famous portion of 17-Mile Drive then begins a few miles south of this point. The crossing of Highway 68 (Holman Highway/Sunset Drive) and 17-Mile Drive marks the entrance to Pebble Beach. From the Sunset Drive/Pacific Grove gate, the drive runs inland past Spanish Bay, then adjacent to beaches and up into the coastal hills, providing scenic viewpoints.
The road provides vistas of golf courses including Spyglass Hill, Cypress Point and Pebble Beach. After reaching Carmel Way, and the exit to Carmel, the 17-Mile Drive then heads northeast to the Highway 68/Highway 1 interchange, where one can exit, or continue to loop along the higher vistas of 17-Mile Drive, some of which offer views from more than 600 feet above sea-level. The full loop will take you back to the Pacific Grove Gate at Sunset Drive — a distance of 17 miles.
To drive the section of the road within the Pebble Beach gated community, there is an entrance fee requirement of US$10.00 (as of August 12, 2014), except for travelers on bicycles. Visitors can recoup the toll if they dine or shop within the community.
We continued our scenic drive down Hwy 1 to Sam Simeon. After our long drive we arrived at the Hearst Castle visitor center and hopped a bus up to take our tour.
Hearst Castle is a National and California Historical Landmark mansion located on the Central Coast of California, United States. It was designed by architect Julia Morgan between 1919 and 1947 for newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst, who died in 1951. The California Park Commission voted to approve its inclusion in the California State Park System, and that was approved by the California State Legislature in 1954
Hearst formally named the estate La Cuesta Encantada (The Enchanted Hill), but usually called it the ranch. Hearst Castle and grounds are also sometimes referred to as San Simeon without distinguishing between the Hearst property and the adjacent unincorporated area of the same name.Hearst Castle featured 56 bedrooms, 61 bathrooms, 19 sitting rooms, 127 acres of gardens, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, tennis courts, a movie theater, an airfield, and the world's largest private zoo. Zebras and other exotic animals still roam the grounds.
Among Hearst's A-list guests were Charlie Chaplin, Cary Grant, the Marx Brothers, Charles Lindbergh, Greta Garbo, Joan Crawford, Clark Gable, James Stewart, Bob Hope, Calvin Coolidge, Franklin Roosevelt, Dolores Del Rio, and Winston Churchill.Hearst Castle was the inspiration for the Xanadu mansion of the 1941 Orson Welles film Citizen Kane, a fictionalization of William Randolph Hearst's career.Since the property was donated to the state of California only two projects have been granted permission: Stanley Kubrick's Spartacus, which used the castle to stand in as Crassus' villa; and Lady Gaga's music video for G.U.Y.
One highlight of the estate is the outdoor Neptune Pool, located near the edge of the hilltop, which offers an expansive vista of the mountains, ocean and the main house. Due to drought conditions and leaks in the pool, it is now drained.
After our tour we grabbed a snack (pulled pork sandwich and chips) from the visitor center before our drive to Morro Bay.
We drove for 45 minutes to Morro Bay and stoped at a ocean view restaurant with a view of Morro Rock ( I think it was Hofbrau der Albatross) . It was very good. I had a seafood I had the Seafood Combo with 2 piece fish, 2 piece calamari, clam strips and fries. Nicole had a salad and creamy New England style clam chowder. We even saw some seals playing in the water.
We continued our drive to Malibu stopping off at a Best Buy in Santa Barbara so i could buy more memory cards for my cameras. WE finally arrived at the Sheraton Agoura Hills Hotel to crash for the night. Our plan was to explore the Malibu area in the morning.

Cindy Sheehan at the 2012 Monte Vista Bohemian Grove protest 7/14/12.

Bohemian Grove, where the world's most elite men meet in secrecy every year. There have been ongoing protests for many years, but now Occupy is getting into the story.
Nestled in the woods of California, 2,700 acres of pristine land is broken down into dozens of camps, and for two weeks every July since the 1880s, they have been filled with some of the most wealthy and powerful men in the world.
While strange rituals are performed, the elite discuss their plans. The public is not allowed inside this elusive and secret event, but protesters have been in attendance outside the event for years.
While some think it is just a getaway, a bit of relaxation for the elite, drinking and whoring and generally having fun, the protesters know different. Policy is discussed here, and major decisions are made.

Mary Moore, co-founder of Bohemian Grove Action Network (interviewed in the above video last year), has unearthed a photograph from the summer of 2007, when a talk was given called Afghanistan, the unexpected upside. Seven months later, President Obama called for 20,000 new troops to be sent overseas. The saga in Afghanistan continues, as we all know.
Now Occupy Bohemian Grove is joining the fray, protesting outside of the event with its strange ceremonies.
Bohemian Grove has been shrouded in secrecy for over a century. In the past no one knew what went on inside, and beneath, it. Now hundreds of people are expected to turn out in Monte Rio, California in protest against the erosion of a democratic society.
The Occupy Bohemian Grove website reads: Occupy groups across America, and increasingly the world, are working to expose the one percent in control of global resources who are bringing human rights repression, environmental destruction and war to humankind.
While the list of attendees is a state secret, Newt Gingrich, Dick Cheney, Henry Kissinger and President Bush (and his father) have attended in the past.
Peter Phillips, a sociology professor at Sonoma State University tells RT, We know for sure that Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan sat down and had conversation about who was going to run for president when and they made a deal.
Phillips apparently wrote his dissertation on the Bohemian Club in 1994. He was invited to attend for four days and witnessed first-hand the opening event, the Cremation of Care.
In the symbolic, or possibly satanic, ceremony the elite leave their cares behind, beneath a statue of Mollock the Owl.

Continuação...Pesquisar no Site:

Essa distância, dividida em seis blocos irregulares da cidade, é longa em comparação com a largura de três quarteirões, a leste e oeste desse centro histórico. Embalado nesta pequena área do centro é uma riqueza de história arquitetônica, econômica e familiar revelada em parte pelas histórias conectadas aos sites neste site.
