The Scuola vecchia della Misericordia is a former charity building in Venice, Italy, in the sestiere of Cannaregio. It is located near the north margin of the city, at the intersections of Rio della Sensa and the confluence of Rio di Noale and Rio di San Falice.
It was also known as the Scuola Grande di Santa Maria della Misericordia. It was erected in 1310 and subsequently enlarged several times; in Venice a scuola was the seat of a charity/religious institution. By the early 16th century, the old church had joined with the nearby Franciscan abbey, and the old meeting hall had been rented out. Construction of a new Scuola meeting hall, the Scuola Nuova della Misericordia was begun in 1507 across the Rio dell Sensa. However, 25 years later this was only a foundation, and new designs by Jacopo Sansovino completed the two story brick structure. This was never faced with marble or stone, and sold in 1634 to the guild of silk weavers. The Scuola Nuova has been recently restored.

Venice, from Ponte di Rialto to Gheto Novo - Italy 4K Travel Channel
From the Rialto Bridge, we reach the Campo Santi Apostoli, the square in front of the church of the same name. Curved Colonnades on the building directly on the canal Rio the S.S. Apostoli serve as a landing stage for gondoliers. A small bridge over the canal makes this place a popular photo scene.
Our way leads via the Strada Nova, which is also frequented by many tourists, as it is a cross-link to the station. In this city, it is difficult to describe the multifaceted nature of architecture, paired with the canals.
We walk to the Campo della Maddalena, then go back again, to turn at Campo Santa Foscain in northern direction.
We cross the Rio de Fosca, the Rio Trapolin, and the Rio della Misericordia and then head west on the Fondamenta Misericordia.
After passing the Ponte de Gheto Novo we first find ourselves a shady table in front of a small restaurant for a cool drink.

Von der Rialtobrücke aus erreichen wir den Campo Santi Apostoli, den Platz vor der gleichnamigen Kirche. Geschwungenen Kolonnaden am Gebäude direkt am Kanal Rio dei S.S. Apostoli dienen als Anlegestelle für Gondolieri. Eine kleine Brücke über den Kanal macht diesen Platz zu einem beliebten Fotomotiv.
Unser Weg führt über die Strada Nova, die auch von vielen Touristen frequentiert wird, da sie eine Querverbindung zum Bahnhof darstellt. Es fällt in dieser Stadt schwer den Facettenreichtum der Architektur, gepaart mit den Kanälen, zu beschreiben.
Wir gehen bis zum Campo della Maddalena, kehren dann aber wieder um, um am Campo Santa Foscain Richtung Norden abzubiegen.
Wir überqueren den Rio de Fosca, den Rio Trapolin und den Rio della Misericordia um dann auf der Fondamenta Misericordia in Richtung Westen zu gehen.
Nachdem wir die Ponte de Gheto Novo passiert haben such wir uns erst einmal einen schattigen Tisch vor einem kleinen Restaurant um etwas kühles

Nel video, l’architetto Alberto Torsello illustra la storia di questo grande luogo di aggregazione sociale, cominciata nel 1308, e i lavori di ristrutturazione, portati a termine nel 2015. iGuzzini ha collaborato con l’architetto Alberto Torsello fornendo assistenza tecnica e soluzioni tecnologiche a LED, tutte DALI per un’illuminazione intelligente, capace di adattarsi alle diverse configurazioni che lo spazio può assumere ed integrarsi con la luce naturale. Oltre a prodotti innovativi come Trick, e di grande successo come Underscore, iPro e Linealuce, iGuzzini ha sviluppato versioni speciali a sospensione dell’apparecchio Cestello.
La sede originaria della Scuola Grande della Misericordia viene edificata a partire dal 1308 secondo un progetto grandioso, fuori scala per la città di Venezia, che prosegue per fasi senza arrivare mai a compimento. Attorno al 1527 la ripresa dei lavori fu affidata a Jacopo Sansovino, architetto di origine fiorentina. Attraverso vicende alterne di fortuna e di decadenza, nel 1914 diventa fulcro dell’attività pedagogica e sportiva della società di ginnastica Costantino Reyer. Nel 1991 il Comune di Venezia inizia il restauro dell’edificio, che viene portato a termine solo nel 2015.

The Casa dei Tre Oci or Casa di Maria is a modern, neo-gothic palace located in the island of Giudecca of the sestiere of Dorsoduro, in Venice. The facade is visible across the Giudecca Canal from the Church of the Zitelle.
La Casa dei Tre Oci was designed in 1912-1913 by the Bolognese painter Mario de Maria as his own house. It is stated that the symbolism of the facade is that the three large windows represent Maria's immediate family: his son, wife, and himself, while the smaller upper window represents his then daughter Silvia, who had recently died in her youth.
The Italian term for eye (occhi) in Venetian dialect is òci , hence the house's name. After the Maria family, the palace was occupied for a spell by the architect Renzo Piano. In 2016, the house is owned by Polymnia Venezia srl, a cultural institution promoting twentieth century art.
