2018 China: Pingyao - County Government Office
Located to the southwest of Pingyao Ancient City center on Yamen Street, Ancient Government Office is the largest and best-preserved existing ancient county government office in China. With a length of 203 meters (222 yards) and a width of 131 meters (143 yards), it covers approximately 26,000 square meters (31,095 square yards). One can learn of the bureaucratic culture of Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1912) from its architecture, plaques, and couplets.
Pingyao Ancient Government Office dates back to the Northern Wei Dynasty (386-534). The oldest remaining building was constructed in 1346, more than 600 years ago. The County Annals recorded that in 1303 a big earthquake took place in Pingyao and the county government was destroyed. More than 100 magistrates in the Ming and Qing Dynasties reconstructed the government and successively added new buildings. In 1949, Ancient Government Office was replaced with the People’s Government of Pingyao County and most old buildings were dismantled. After the government offices moved out in 1998, this site was restored and opened to the public as Pingyao County Government Museum.
The overall ancient government office architecture shows a traditional Chinese feature of facing south and being symmetrical. There are six rows of buildings along the central axis, respectively front gate, secondary gate (Yi Gate), primary law court, secondary law court, inner chambers and fox spirit pavilion.

Pingyao Yide Hotel
Pingyao's Yide Hotel (Pingyao Yide Kezhan) is a four-star hotel located in Pingyao, the Ancient City, close to Rishengchang, Xianya and Mingqing Street. The building was build in 1736.

Qiao Family's Compound
Situated in the central part of Qiao Town, Qi Xian County in Shanxi Province, Qiao Family's Compound occupies an area of 8,274 square meters (about two acres) with a construction area of 3,870 square meters (about one acre). It consists of six main courtyards, twenty smaller courtyards and 313 rooms. The family built the complex like a castle for safety considerations, as well as to create tranquil surroundings in which to relax, away from the furious competition of the business world.

It cost all his saving plus a loan and some money borrowed. Then he continued his work while renovating the houses at same time to make it his studio and private houses. The project lasts for 20 years with an expense of 4-5 million. Now the compound has become a legendary and iconic construction in Pingyao, not the dilapidated houses any more.

Politicians and business leaders greet Shanxi deity
A 500-year-old Lord Guan statue from China's Shanxi arrived Friday at Kaohsiung International Airport. It came on a special chartered flight paid for by Hon Hai Chairman Terry Gou. The statue will soon begin a three-week tour of Taiwan. Welcoming this deity's arrival at the airport was a cross-section of business and political leaders, including Legislative Speaker Wang Jin-pyng. Hon Hai Chairman Terry Gou paid for the entire cost of the chartered flight and provided additional sponsorship for Lord Guan's trip, including the arrival of his military weapons and accessories.
