Showcase: Uzbek ceramics
Nestled deep in the Eurasian Steppe, Uzbekistan was an important stop along the Ancient Silk Road. The country’s ceramics, prized for its vibrant colors, were handcrafted and traded here for centuries. But now the art form is in danger of being forgotten, prompting many craftsmen to find new ways to preserve its beauty.

Ceramics & Decorative Painting of Uzbekistan
National Museum of Ethnology
In the oasis city, ceramics has been popular since ancient times, the potter worked under the boss, became independent, caught the workshop.Although it was factory produced in the Soviet era, the apprenticeship system was inherited, and pottery conscious of the tradition is now being made.
Miniature paintings developed as illustrations of manuscripts have also been drawn on lacquer artifacts and the like, and the technology was brought to Central Asia. In the Soviet era Female Liberation Movement was also drawn.
The National Museum of Ethnology, also called “Minpaku”, was opened in 1977 as a museum and research center. Its galleries display colorful cultural exhibits from nine world regions which include original artifacts as well as video, audio, and photographic materials. This museum is located on the other side of the park’s rose garden, across from the Japan Folk Crafts Museum.
