Ritigala Sacred Mountain – Mystical UFO Sighting and Landing Site in Sri Lanka
Known as a UFO landing site in Sri Lanka, Ritigala mountain is certainly a fascinating place to visit. Many UFO enthusiasts claimed to have seen flying saucers/alien crafts many times at Ritigala. Thus, they believe that it is a landing site for alien crafts as the place remains mystical always.
From Colombo, it is a 188km distance near Kekirawa town. It is of a 766m above the sea level and is the only highest mountain in the north central province in Sri Lanka which is another highlight of this unique place.
In the past, it is used to be an old forest monastery. You can see many remnants of pillars and basement and a massive tree. The walk here is truly enjoyable and relaxing. I would suggest you wear walking shoes here. There are boards with names in each place to tell what that specific place used to be.

Wilpattu National Park, Sri Lanka. | විල්පත්තු ජාතික උද්යානය

Around the World - Episode 16 | Wilpattu National Park, Sri Lanka. | විල්පත්තු ජාතික උද්යානය
Wilpattu National Park is the largest and one of the oldest national parks located in Sri Lanka. It is located 30 km west Anuradhapura and located 26 km north of Puttalam (approximately 180 km north of Colombo). In 1905 the area was designated a sanctuary and in 1938 it was upgraded to the National Park status.
The unique feature of this park is the existence of Willus (Natural lakes) - Natural, sand-rimmed water basins or depressions that fill with rainwater. Nearly sixty lakes (Willu) and tanks are found spread throughout Wilpattu. Hence, the name “Willu-pattu” (Land of Lakes) has been used, which finally has turned to Wilpattu.
Wilpattu is in the Northwest coast lowland dry zone of Sri Lanka spreading over 1,317 square kilometers across North-Eastern and North-Central Provinces. The elevation ranges from 0 to 152 meters above sea level. The annual rainfall is about 1000mm and the annual temperature is about 27.2 degrees. Inter-monsoonal rains in March and the northeast monsoon (December – February) are the main sources of rainfall.
The crown jewel of Wilpattu is its abundance of the leopard (Panthera pardus kotiya) population, which is an endangered species. Recent studies suggest that there could be over 100 leopards living within Wilpattu.
Apart from that, around 30 species of mammals have been identified within Wilpattu national park. Among them, elephant (Elephas maximus maximus), sloth bear (Melursus ursinus inornatus), water buffalo (Bubalus bubalis), sambhur (Rusa unicolor unicolor), spotted deer (Axis axis ceylonensis) and barking deer (Muntiacus muntjak malabaricus) are prominent.
Wilpattu is the home for numerous bird and reptile species. Specially due to its abundance of lakes and tanks, this park has become a haven for migratory birds.
Apart from the ecological importance of Wilpattu, there is a high archaeological value as well. There are many locations which relate to Princess Kuweni (c. 6th century BC). Certain ruins are still visible.
Wilpattu has a geological significance as well due to its evidence of some unique rock formations closer to Kudiramalai beach, which leads to the speculations that this could very well be a meteor impact site millions of years ago.
Department of Wildlife maintains more than 10 bungalows and campsites within the park, which can be reserved online for a reasonable price.

Special Note for the Viewers:
I’ve done this video to make other human beings aware of the beauty of this place and please don’t misuse this information in order to ruin this place. I’ve spent so much of time/money bringing this to you so that you may enjoy it. However I’ve a very kind and humble request from you all.
Should you ever visit this place, you’re kindly requested to adhere to the following in order to save our Mother Nature (essentially Our Country) not only for the future generations but for the current one as well:
* Avoid careless/reckless/irresponsible/money-oriented/mega tour groups or organizers.
* Travel in smaller groups as Mother Nature can’t afford so many footprints at once.
* Minimize the use of polythene/plastic and do bring back if you have to take any with you.
* Don’t litter and even if it’ bio-degradable, please bring it back and dispose of the garbage properly and responsibly. Because no matter what it is, it will still be alien to that environment.
* Use reusable water bottles so that you don’t have to keep buying plastic ones. It’ll not only save you money but will help save nature massively.
* Remain quiet and vigilant. Don’t disturb the tranquility of the nature. Instead savor it.
* Try and bring if you spot any litter/garbage left behind by other careless travellers.
* Don’t light fires unnecessarily and do try to use portable cookers instead of using firewood when camping. The increase usage of firewood leads to more deforestation even at a smaller scale.
* Don’t bring any plants back with you or break any plants/branches unnecessarily.
* Don’t walk off the designated footpath.
* Don’t use soap/detergent/shampoo when bathing in natural streams as they’d only lead to the contamination of those pure water sources and elimination of wildlife species.
* Don’t do anything that harms the Mother Nature.

Anuradhapura, (අනුරාධපුරය in Sinhala, அனுராதபுரம் in Tamil) is a major city in Sri Lanka. It is the capital city of North Central Province, Sri Lanka and the capital of Anuradhapura District. Anuradhapura is one of the ancient capitals of Sri Lanka, famous for its well-preserved ruins of ancient Sri Lankan civilization. It was 3rd capital of the Kingdom of Rajarata after Tambapanni and Upatissa Nuwara.
The city, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, lies 205 km north of the current capital Colombo in Sri Lanka's North Central Province, on the banks of the historic Malvathu Oya. It is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world and one of the eight World Heritage Sites of Sri Lanka.
From the 4th century BC, it was the capital of Sri Lanka until the beginning of the 11th century AD. During this period it remained one of the most stable and durable centers of political power and urban life in South Asia. The ancient city, considered sacred to the Buddhist world, is today surrounded by monasteries covering an area of over sixteen square miles (40 km²).

Nuara Wewa Anuradhapura Sri Lanka
රුවන්වැලිසෑය මාහා සෑරදුන්ගේ චූඩාමානික්ය වහන්සේ සාධු! සාධු ! Ruwaweliseya Stupa chuda manikya
#Ruwanweliseya #anuradhapurakingdom #chudamanikya #thecrest #crystal
The Kotha (the pinnacle) and the Chuda Manikyaya (the crest gem) of the historic Ruwanwelisaya Vihara will be replaced before January 1, 2020, the Chief Sangha Nayaka of Nuwara Kalawiya and Adhikari of Ruwanwelisaya, Ven. Pallegama Hemarathana thera announced yesterday at a press conference at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute. Atamasthanadhipathi of Anuradhapura Dr. Ven. Pallegama Sirisumana Dhammarakkhitha Siriniwasa Nayaka thera was present with him.
Ven. Hemarathana Nayaka Thera said that the crystal rock ( the Chuda Manikyaya) of the Stupa was partially cracked, showing lines and had discoloration. “The kotha and the crest gem are 80 years old. It came as a gift from Burma,” he said.
He said that foreign and local experts who carried out an inspection of the Kotha and the Chuda Manikyaya of the Stupa in accordance with scientific and archeological standards, have furnished them with a report providing evidence regarding the condition of the pinnacle’s current disposition.
The construction , restoration and replacing of the Chuda Manikyaya have already commenced with its responsibility being relegated to Vishwa Parami Foundation.
“We have found a crystal rock for the preparation of the new crest gem,” he said. “ In fact it was donated to us. I cannot tell you at this moment who that generous donor was,” he said. “Vishwa Parami Foundation has handed over the task of preparing the new crystal rock for the crest of the Kotha to an Austrian company called “Swarovski”.
The Foundation has relegated the task of constructing the base of the new pinnacle where Chuda Manikyaya to be placed to a Singaporean company, the thera said.
“It is being constructed side by side with the new Chuda Manikyaya in the making,” he added.
MORE ABOUT RUWANWELISEYA
capital of Anuradhapura in the North Central Province of Sri Lanka. It was built by King Dutugamunu (137 BC – 119 BC) and completed by his younger brother, King Saddhatissa, after his death. The Ruwanweliseya is ranked among the tallest ancient monuments in the world.
Legend has it that King Dutugamunu built the Stupa at a place where he found a rock inscription by Arahath Mahinda. The inscription says “In time to come a great king would establish a great stupa where the stone is established.
The Ruwanweliseya is adjacent to the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhiya in the Mahamevuna Uyana.
It was soon after the war with King Elara that King Dutugamunu started to build the great Stupa. Much money had been spent on the war and times were hard but according to the Mahavamsa the materials needed to build the Stupa miraculously sprang up from all over the island. For example, the Mahavamsa records one such incident thus: To the westward of the capital, at the distance of five yojanas, at the Uruvelpattana, pearls of the size of “nelli” fruit, together with coral beads, rose to the shores from ocean. Some fishermen seeing these, gathering them into one heap, and taking (some of) the pearls and coral in a dish, and repairing to the king, reported the event to him”.
The Mahavamsa and the Thupavamsa state that the King obtained support from a thousand villages to build the Maha Stupa and that he insisted on paying them.
It is said that King Dutugamunu wished to see the Stupa completed before his death. Knowing that this was impossible, King Saddhatissa quickly covered the incomplete section of the Stupa with white cloth, got artisans and artists to do what was necessary and made it look as if the Stupa was completed.
The ailing King Dutugamunu was brought to the Stupa and he was very happy that the Stupa was completed.
Other names for the Ruwanweli Seya are the Maha Stupa, Swarnamali Chaithiya and Rathanamali Dagoba.
The Ruwanweli Seya has a diameter of 90 metres at the base and is 92 metres (300 ft) high. The circumference is 292 metres (950 ft ) high. The original stupa had been about 55 metres tall (about 180 ft) and many kings had renovated the Stupa.
Like most Sri Lankan Stupas, the Ruwanweliseya has been built like a bubble floating on water (diya bubula).
The whole dagoba is surrounded by a wall sculpted with elephants. According to the great sixth century Sinhala chronicle, the Mahavamsa, each elephant had tusks of real ivory.
The Ruwanweliseya is one of the most venerated Stupas in Sri Lanka. It is included in the Solosmasthana (16 places of worship) and in the Atamasthana (eight places of worship).
By the 19th century the Ruwanweliseya had fallen into ruins. A bhikkhu, Naranvitiye Sumanasara visited the Stupa in 1873 and resolved to restore it to its former glory even by himself. He managed to get support and financial assistance and restored the Stupa.
The Ruwanweliseya Restoration Society was founded in 1902 by the thera and the final pinnacle laying ceremony was held on June 17, 1940. A chuda manikkya (Seinbu crystal) gifted by the Buddhists of Burma was used for this.
