Mountain Whitewater Descents - Fort Collins, Colorado
In 1993, Brad Modesitt and his brother Kent canoed down the Poudre, Platte, Missouri, and Mississippi Rivers to end up 2400 miles later in New Orleans. This experience left both of them with a deep respect for our nation's rivers. Kent started law school and is now an attorney in Denver. Brad continued his journey and the traveling lifestyle bicycling 10,000 miles and sailing 3000 miles to southern Chile. When he returned a friend told him he should become a rafting guide. It was good advice. Brad still guides rafts down the river he loves enjoying the people, the scenery, and of course the rapids.
river rafting in Colorado
During his travels Brad learned what travelers need and want. A fun trip with experienced and entertaining guides. Professionalism means everything in every aspect of a business. A job should be fun. Work is only a four-letter word if you make it that way. Lead by example. Follow with respect and the desire to learn. Life is fun enjoy it everyday.
Brad now runs the business with his wife Lindsey and the big bosses, 31-month-old Ella and 2-month-old Chase. They love their jobs, lives, each other and the chance to show others how special the Cache La Poudre River is and why it is Colorado's only Wild and Scenic River
OUR GUIDES MAKE THE DIFFERENCE!
While the river is a vital part of your river trip, your guide makes the experience even more outstanding. We have some of the most experienced whitewater guides on the Poudre. Many started on this river and have since guided a wide array of other rivers. Most of our guides are college graduates with degrees like: Wildlife Biology, Natural Resource Management, and Forest Ecology, Recreation and Tourism. During the winter some are ski patrollers and teachers, some head to Central America to guide on rivers there. Each year we tap into the resources of the Colorado State University (CSU) and hold classes with our guides to further educate them on birds, wildlife, plants, and the rich history of the region.

Driving the Poudre Canyon, outside Fort Collins, CO, with My Cousins
This is the 2nd video I've posted riding in the Cache La Poudre Canyon, near Fort Collins, CO, with my cousins Gale and Dave. We drove up thru the canyon in the 1st video, but turned around because the roads were so slick (no sanding had been done). This video was taken on 1/14/13. Lots of views of the fire damage and burn areas from the large fire this past June (2012). Over several hundred homes were destroyed in that fire. Great riding in one of my favorite places in Colorado with two special cousins!!!

The river starts in the snow capped peaks of the Rocky Mountain National Park near Estes Park, then twists, turns, and tumbles through cliffs and rock spires. It's almost continuous rapids keep your adrenaline flowing, and the chances to see eagles, deer, black bear, and big horn sheep will keep your eyes open.

There are many places to swim in Fort Collins, but one of my favorites is the Poudre River. Be careful! It's pretty cold, pretty much all the time.
