Fly Fishing New Zealand - A raft on ya back!

I had a appointment mid-morning and an itch to float a recent toy, a Packraft, so hit my local Hutt River this morning for a very quick fish/walk upstream beforehand. Caught a few wee brownies spotted basking in the early morning sun.

All the while, thousands of motorists are making their way to work along the motorway in the background, most completely unaware trout even exist in this magnificent urban fishery.

I can see this raft becoming useful for accessing remote rivers over the coming years. Took me around 10 minutes to float the 2km back to the car!

Hey my FANCI-FUL subscribers!
In today’s vlog, we made our way to the Aratiatia Dam which was recommended by our airbnb host. Apparently, there are specific timings where the dam will be opened and you could see the water gushing out and see the rapids forming. Something that you cannot see in Singapore. Next, we made our way to the Tongariro River where we had our white water rafting and guys, I AM OBSESSED!! The experience is so priceless. There was this time whereby the water was still and we were just floating away in our raft, sipping on our hot chocolate. And don’t get me started with the view there. It was simply gorgeous! We made some new friends too. It was really a memorable day for me. Hope you guys enjoyed this vlog! Stay tune for more New Zealand vlogs! Hope you guys enjoy watching these vlogs!

Lake Taupo central North Island of New Zealand. famous for its trout fishing & fly fishing

Lake Taupō has a staggering number of activities to choose from all year round and is tagged as the Skydiving capital of New Zealand but thousands more come here specifically for the abundance of brown and rainbow trout fishing, which extends south to Turangi and the Tongariro River. It has an enviable reputation for the quality and fighting spirit of its fish.

Lake Taupō offers many more activities, kayaking, canoeing, wind surfing, scenic flights or sailing and for the adrenaline junkies to get their fix, there is sky diving, bungy jumping, jet boating, water skiing and wake boarding.
There are also plenty of land based activities to keep you occupied, enjoy a wander around the town centre, stroll to the lake side or sample the catch of the day in one of the lively cafes or restaurants.
To the north of Taupō you'll find a concentrated collection of national wonders within a few minutes of each other. Boiling mud and hissing steam harnessed by the Wairakei power station and the clear, blue Waikato River, Huka Falls which are New Zealands's best-known falls, Aratiatia Rapids an outstanding scenic feature of the Waikato River where water is released through the dam 4 times a day showing to visitors the natural path along which the river once flowed. Jet boating to the base of these falls is a truly magical experience.
