⁴ᴷ⁶⁰ Walking Taipei, Taiwan : Neihu District (Costco, Neihu Sports Park) (December 16, 2019)
A walk in the Neihu District of Taipei, Taiwan. I get a drink at a local 7-11, visit the Costco Wholesale, and make my way to Neihu Sports Park.
From Wikipedia:
Neihu District is a district of Taipei City, Taiwan. Neihu means inner lake. The older name originates from the Ketagalan word Tayour (transliterated by the Dutch as Cattajo), meaning woman's head ornament.
Many mountainous roads and paths, which are ideal for hiking, connect Neihu with the neighboring Shilin District and Yangmingshan National Park. The Tri-Service General Hospital, which is a teaching hospital of the National Defense Medical Center, is also in Neihu. The Wuchih Mountain Military Cemetery borders Neihu.

TAIWAN NORTH COAST Bicycle Ride (北海岸自行車之旅)
One a fine day in December rented a bike in the town of Sanzhi and rode along the coast to Fugui Lighthouse, at the northernmost point of Taiwan. The bikeway is great, the scenery is pretty, and I enjoyed a lovely day there. :)

WHO I AM
My name is Johannes. I love creating videos about places in Taiwan and I try to post a few videos every week (well, more like twice a month). Please let me know what you think about this channel and feel free to ask me any question. Thanks for your support!
Info bits about the North Coast:
Sanzhi Visitor Center
Located on a hill and surrounded by mountains, Sanzhi Visitor Center’s main building has a Tang dynasty architectural style in simple but elegant colors. Inside, as well as information for visitors, leaflets and a leisure space, there is also The Gallery of Four Famous Sons of Sanzhi.
Yuanxing House
Situated behind Sanzhi Visitor Center, this is the old residence of former President Lee Teng-hui. This traditional southern Fujian courtyard building has the black tile and brick wall charm of Taiwanese old houses.
Shuangwan Bike Path
Lovely coastal scenery can be enjoyed on the eight-kilometer bicycle path from Qianshui Bay in Sanzhi District to Baisha Bay in Shimen District, including Qianshui Bay, Mingzhu Gongwang Temple, and Linshanbi where beach scenery, tidal zone ecology and windkanter can be enjoyed.
Fude Water Wheel Park
Located opposite Sanzhi Visitor Center, this park offers a landscape decorated with various water wheels and a variety of plants and flowers that compete for attention in different seasons. Cross over the red scenic bridge to enjoy the scenery on both banks of Balian Creek.
Linshanbi Recreation Area
Linshanbi Recreation Area, close to Baisha Bay, has a walking trail and plank walkway, with luxuriant woodland, rich natural ecology, and pleasant scenery. It also has a windkanter landscape created by the piling up of andesite volcanic rock, and is a great place to watch the sunset.
Baisha Bay
This crescent-shaped one-kilometer long bay between Linshanbi and Fugui Cape Park boasts pure white sand and clear water. Offering various water activities, it is a popular place to play in the water during the summer.
Fugui Cape Park/Fugui Lighthouse
Fugui Cape Park has a diverse geological landscape featuring windkanter, trenches and sand dunes etc. The main landmark in the park is the lighthouse, which was completed in 1897. The northernmost lighthouse in mainland Taiwan it is octagonal in shape and has black and white stripes, which is quite unique.
Laomei Green Reef
The reef originally was a coastal volcanic reef that was subject to scouring by waves over a long period of time, washing away the softer rock and leaving behind the hard rock in the form of troughs. In April and May the reef is covered in green sea algae, creating a unique scene. Visitors asked to stay well away from the reef to protect the natural environment.

OFW TAIWAN/MOUNTAIN CLIMBING AND PICNIC AT DONGYANSHAN NATIONAL FOREST RECREATION AREA
Don Yan Shan is a mountain in Taiwan that has the highest altitude out of the hundreds of mountains here. The highest peak is at 1,212 meters. The name Don Yan has two original stories. One story says that Don Yan Shan is a pair of eyes staring towards the east, the second story claims the original name came from the Tayal tribe called Rgyax-Tonga. There are a few different trails within Don Yan Shan Forest Park, but it doesn't matter which route you choose, you'll be able to observe the wonderfully diverse ecosystem here. If luck is on your side, you could even spot a large mammal or maybe even the Taiwan Black Bear!

Neiwan Township Taiwan
Enjoying pleasant weather, Neiwan Scenic Area is encircled by tall hills and run through with Youluo River. Angling in Neiwan is among the eight spectacles in Hsinchu. Neiwan Branch line is among the three infamous train branches in Taiwan. The Neiwan Branch Line of the Taiwan Railway will suspend operation from February 28, 2007, and reenter service in three and a half years. Visitors can take the Neiwan Branch train at Zhudong Township and go on a reminiscent trip.
The limpid Youluo River before your eyes is 100 meters in width. Looking down from the riverside highway at the riverbank, the picturesque scenery of the emerald green woods and spectacular suspension bridges is as enchanting as a heaven on earth in movies. Neiwan is known far and near for the five suspension bridges over the riverbank. Under suspension bridges, visitors can enjoy catching shrimp and crabs in shallow areas by the riverbank or swimming until their hearts' content in the stream, while the sandy beach serves as a perfect spot for barbecuing, camping, and holiday outings.
The scenic spots of Guangji Temple, the train station, and the theater on the Old Street as well as NeiWan suspension bridges are full of a reminiscent atmosphere. Take a stroll here and there and you will remember some charitable past memories. You will also see the lively characters of Brother A-San and Great Auntie, which have long been symbols of NeiWan. Funny comics along the street and recent popular special products, such as ginger lily-flavored glutinous rice, further add to hospitality and friendliness on the Old Street.
