situated in Matale,Srilanka

The hike in Riverston hike begins at the Riverston Telecommunications Tower. We parked our car near a small river and began the trek from there towards the mountains
We headed across the river and through the rice fields and farmlands towards the Riverston mountains. There is minimal signage but luckily we had our guide Lukobanda to guide us up. The hike doesn’t have a specific name according to the locals other than the Riverston Peak Hike. The hike looks out over the Knuckles mountain range and the surrounding highlands. It’s one of the short day trip hikes in the area. The end of the hike ends with a sharp 300m drop, which made for some pretty epic photos. From here you can chill and take in the views of the Thelgamuwa Valley, the terraced rice fields, and the Knuckles mountain range. This peak in the mountains is called ‘The Worlds End‘.
The hike is 5km long but not incredibly difficult although the constant incline means you need to be prepared to sweat in the tropic conditions.(Ref -

Riverston is one of the most beautiful places in Sri Lanka. Located in the Matale District of the Central Province of Sri Lanka. The real name of this mountain view point is කිරිමැටියාකන්ද ( Kirimatiyakanda )
The view of the surrounding area from the Riverston is now one of the highlights of the Knuckles Range. Some of the special places in Sri Lanka can be seen from the top of this hill with many beautiful places including the Kalu Ganga reservoir, Pitawala Patana, and the Mini worlds End.
This place is on the main road to reverston, about 7km before reverston top. Comfortable rooms and good food. spacious garden to relax and have activities. There is a small lake top of this land in relaxing environment.
You have to walk 3km from the starting point to the top of the hill, which is 4000-4500 feet above sea level. Anyone lime to visit sri lanka, yes this is the most wonderful place you should see. If the journey from Colombo will have a train service / bus service to mathale and a bus service from Matale to Riveston mountain.
The Bambarakiriella waterfall is a sight to behold as you travel through a beautiful tea house and a road network that is currently being redeveloped.
If you will climb the riverston Mountain, you can see Three climate at one time. The Mist,The Rain,The Sunlight on same moment you feel.

Located approximately 30 km from the Matale town, when travelling on Matale – Girandurukotte road, rather windy with quite a few hairpins turns but in good condition, offers great views all around with a mini worlds end, lot less travelled by mainstream tourists. Climatic conditions here are very similar to Horton plains with the addition of having two great waterfalls “Sera Ella” and “Bambarakiri Ella”, both of which are a sight for sore eyes, don’t forget to relax on the rock seats of “Sera Ella” relishing the cold misty spray of water on your face and Thelgamu Oya offers a great site for a dip in crystal clear but chilly water.
Travelling further upstream on this very scenic stream will no doubt will make you feel refreshed and rejuvenated. We recommend that you plan a trekking trip (02.5km) to the mist-clad Riverston peak via pittawala pathana, as it offers some of the greatest views of the central hills across the mini-worlds end which ends in a sheer drop of 300 meters offering a great vista especially of the “Knuckles range”, and the thelgamu valley below with its terraced paddy field method unique to the central hills of Sri Lanka.

If you go bit ahead from Reverston, you will find Little World's End at Ptawala Pathana which has a complete different climate from the Wind Gap at Reverston.
Sera Ella(waterfall) and Thelgamu stream are two another beautiful destinations if you plan to have a bath while visiting Reverston.

This grassland is situated by the side of the Rattota - Illukkumbura road in Matale district.
Features
In Pitawala Pathana a grass cover spreads over an area of about 10 ha of a gently sloping rock slab covered with just a thin soil layer. The turf grass of about 10 cm in height gives a velvety appearance to this sloping expanse of grassland. Isolated and scattered trees and shrubs could be seen. Many endemic plant and animal species are found.
Mini World's End
An easy nature trail of about 0.75 km takes the visitor to Mini World's End, which is a deep escarpment situated at Pitawala Pathana. It resembles a small version of the world famous World's End in Horton Plains. This place grants a panoramic view of the Knuckles Range and some of its valleys below. The designated nature trail leads the visitors easily to the escarpment. From there it is possible to walk along to the rock extrusion which allows one to walk right up to the edge.
