Oldest Bell tower of Laoag City and it's Bell is still functioning very well. It was said that it's opening gate was as high as calesa since calesa or someone who is horse riding can pass by it's entrance.

Starts around 7 to 11pm on May 1-30 (summertime of Laoag City)

Laoag city is the capital of the province of Ilocos Norte which is situated at the northern most part of the Philippines.
How to get from Manila to Laoag?
1 hour daily Manila Laoag flights
9-10 hour Laoag bus ride

Just a few steps from the city hall, you can find the Sinking Bell Tower, one of the famous tourist spots in Laoag.
We also visited Fort Ilocandia Resort Hotel and Casino, a 5-star hotel in the province, known for its spanish and rustic building design.
It is also minutes away from Laoag International Airport.
Last but not the least, our aunt from Solsona, a 3rd class municipality also located in Ilocos Norte,
also invited us to visit their place where we had so much fun experiencing the cold water of the Karingking River Resort with lunch of course.

Arinaya Beach Resort - Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte

Bangui and Pagudpud is at the northern part of Ilocos Norte. Travel by private vehicle from the capital city of Metro Manila will take from 11 to 13 hours, depending on the number of rest stops made.

Bangui Windmill Farm is part of Ilocos Norte's effort in green energy. Completed in 2005, it is composed of 20 units of windmill that line the shoreline of Bangui Bay. Each windmill is 230ft high with 135ft blades.

For a closer look at the windmill, drop-by AlexAndrea Restaurant. They'll let you park in their property even if you're just going there for the view. They do cook a good meal too. For large groups, contact them through their Facebook page at

I consider Saud Beach as one of the best beaches in the Philippines. Due to the distance, being in the farthest north of the country, few visit this place. The sea is facing the northwest side of the archipelago towards the West Philippine Sea. Sand is powdery white. The water is turquoise and not polluted. Only a handful of resorts line the beach. Compared to the Blue Lagoon at the other side of Pagudpud, this is one of the best in Ilocos Norte.

We stayed in Arinaya White Beach Resort. Lean month rate for an airconditioned room for 2 for overnight stay is P3,500.00, while the non-airconditioned room is P1,750.00. If you failed to book a hotel, don't panic. There are several hotels and bed and breakfast rooms in the area.

Best time to visit these destinations is always during lean months in the Philippines from June to October and during weekdays.
