Brekkefossen Waterfall - Flam
I did some exploring around the cute town of Flam when we first arrived. They have a neat history museum in town that is worth checking out! I made sure to go to the Visitor's Center and tried to figure out what I could do in our short window before the cruise ship was to leave. I found out about a hike to the Brekkefossen waterfall and loved that hike! The view is AMAZING! The map you get at the center is very helpful and worth getting.
Shortly after starting my hike, I met a couple from Canada and they had a similar walking/hiking pace to mine so we continued together. The path was extremely muddy and a little difficult. Take your time and you will be fine. We saw some people trying to take a short cut to avoid some mud, but most of the trail is muddy so just get used to it.
Once at the waterfall I ran into some family who started hiking earlier that day. Also, met a nice couple from Spain who helped us take family photos. I did the hike in about 30-45 minutes but the map says it is about 1.5-2 hours round trip. Allow for extra time for the terrain and to enjoy the view. I highly recommend this hike if you visit Flam!

Hiking Prestevarden, Norway

Took the first bus to Aurland and wandered around town, pondering how I can make it up to Snøvegen (Snow Road) and hike Prestevarden (Priest Summit) today. There's no public transportation running on Snøvegen anymore since it's replaced by Lærdalstunnelen, the world's longest tunnel, in 2000. So my options were either walk from sea level to 1400 meters and down, or join the expensive Stegastein Tour which only goes half-way up, abandon the Tour and complete the rest on foot. Luckily a friendly local offered me a ride all the way up Snøvegen till where it's blocked off (not open till the 1st of June) then dropped me off at Prestevarden trailhead. From here it's an easy hike up to the 1st plateau after negotiating with a couple of snow patches. The view towards Aurlandsfjorden below was stunning, with both Flåm and Aurland unobstructed. Another steep climb took me up to the 2nd plateau with similar view. On the other direction I can see the Snøvegen winding up into the clouds. Not sure if it's ready for tomorrow's opening. Above the 2nd plateau the trail became steep with lots of snow, so I turned around and slowly descended back to Aurland at sea-level with a quick stop at the touristy Stegastein viewpoint which of course paled in comparison.

Un recorrido en el tren Flamsbana desde Flam, en el fiordo noruego de Aurland, hasta Myrdal. Veremos la catarata Rjoandefossen de 140 metros y la espectacular cascada de Kjosfossen.
El recorrido de 20 km, con curvas de 180º y con un desnivel de 863 m. se realiza en 40/45 minutos.
