SUPERHOUSE - architecture & interiors beyond the everyday
Karen McCartney highlights some of the world’s most interesting living spaces and awe‑inspiring homes –
A super house is one that delivers a 360-degree completeness of form, its exterior and interior have a seamless execution and above all else it is awe-inspiring. This quality can be elicited from the perfection of its natural setting, a remarkable use of materials, an exceptional level of craft, groundbreaking innovation or a use of space that lifts the spirit.
The criteria for what makes a house ‘super’ is highly personal and hence is different for every person. Super is not about size or scale, it is about homes that are imbued with a quality that money alone can’t buy. To some people it might be a humble shack with all pretence stripped away, to someone else it can be about the relationship with nature and the manmade controls that facilitate that experience. This exhibition provokes thought, both about ways of 'living beyond the everyday', and also what 'Superhouse' means to you.
The Fool - Full Movie
What do you do when the world’s most famous atheist mocks you internationally on television and throughout social media? What consolation can you find when you become known worldwide as atheism’s celebrity idiot?
You look to the Scriptures and take consolation in how Joseph was humiliated before the time came when God opened a big door of opportunity for him, and how Moses was abased before God opened a big sea for him. You take comfort in knowing the principle of humiliation before promotion—that God often takes someone low before raising him up for His use.
And that’s what happened when Ray Comfort was christened “Banana Man” by Professor Richard Dawkins. Millions came under the sound of the everlasting gospel, all because of that humiliating name: Banana Man. So if you’re afraid of looking foolish, this true story in The Fool will not only will encourage you and bring your fears into perspective, it will increase your faith in God and help you to see His wonderful hand in your own life.

Ferguson Township crews work to fill up sinkhole
By: Erin Calandra
FERGUSON TOWNSHIP, Centre County, Pa. -- A street in Ferguson Township, Centre County is expected to reopen Wednesday morning after a sinkhole opened up over the weekend.
Saratoga Drive is closed because of the sinkhole that opened up Sunday evening.
We got down to 15 feet and felt that we had fairly hard material to start back filling, Road Supervisor Steven McDonald said.
Severe Weather Team 6 meteorologists said we had the wettest June on record, and it didn't stop there. Thunderstorms have battered Happy Valley over the last week, which may have caused the damage.
With all the rain, I'm sure we're not the only ones experiencing a sinkhole, McDonald said. I'm sure they are throughout Centre County.
The one on Saratoga Drive is about 20 feet long by 20 feet wide.
Very typical. They vary in depth and width depending on if you hit solid lime rock, McDonald said.
Ferguson Township officials said the Centre Region is known as Sinkhole Alley.
If you travel east from here toward State College Borough, (there's) a fair amount of sinkholes that have popped up over the years, McDonald said.
The one on Saratoga Drive is just more visible because it's in the middle of a residential road.
We're told no homes are in danger, and the road is expected to reopen Wednesday morning.
Thomas Woltz, “Threatened Landscapes: Designed Countermeasures of N. B. W. Landscape Architects”
Public parks are a source of civic identity for the communities they serve – inclusivity and authenticity are crucial. Similarly, memorials are bastions of democratic exchange and act as repositories of our cultural past and evolution. Thomas Woltz will present projects from the portfolio of Nelson Byrd Woltz Landscape Architects (NBW) that demonstrate the power of the firm’s research-based design to reframe our relationship with civic, ecological, and cultural systems within the public realm. Lastly, Thomas will present NBW projects that prioritize the ecological health and resilience in agriculturally productive landscapes and reveal surprising connections between these typologies.
Over the past two decades of practice, landscape architect Thomas Woltz has forged a body of work that integrates the beauty and function of built forms with an understanding of complex biological systems and restoration ecology. As principal of Nelson Byrd Woltz Landscape Architects (NBW), a 45-person firm based in Charlottesville, Virginia and New York City, Woltz has infused narratives of the land into the places where people live, work and play, deepening the public’s enjoyment of the natural world and inspiring environmental stewardship. NBW projects create models of biodiversity and sustainable agriculture within areas of damaged ecological infrastructure and working farmland, yielding hundreds of acres of reconstructed wetlands, reforested land, and flourishing wildlife habitat.
Presently, Thomas and NBW are entrusted with the design of major public parks across the United States, Canada and New Zealand, they include Memorial Park in Houston, Hudson Yards in New York City, NoMA Green in Washington DC, Cornwall Park in Auckland, the Aga Khan Garden in Alberta, Canada, and three parks in Nashville, including Centennial Park.
In 2013 was named Design Innovator of the Year by the Wall Street Journal magazine and in 2017 Fast Company named Woltz one of the most creative people in business.

Canberra Vacation Travel Guide | Expedia
Canberra – Purpose built as Australia’s capital city, Canberra is a 3-hour drive from both the snowy mountains and the beautiful beaches of New South Wales.
When ready, browse vacation packages to Canberra:
Canberra is a city which honors Australia’s past and shapes its future, yet #Canberra is far more than a political capital.
At the heart of Canberra’s creation story is Lake Burley Griffin. In 1911, the government launched an international design competition seeking a master plan for a brand new city. The victor, Chicago architect Walter Burley Griffin, won with a garden city design focused on a man-made lake which fits perfectly within the landscape. When, the nation’s Governor General stood in a dusty paddock in 1913 and announced the name of the new capital, he told the nation that the city had, lying before it, a splendid destiny.
Over 100 years later, that destiny has been fulfilled in a city that preserves the great chapters of Australia’s history and continues on to the next. #Vacation here to become a part of it, and keep the memories of your #visit for your own story.
For now, we hope you enjoy watching this #travel #guide as much as we enjoyed making it.

Ravana dead body found in Sri Lanka || Ramayan || King Ravana's Mummy found in Mysterious Cave
watch ZINGA Official Teaser | Jaishankar Chigurula | India's First Ever Giant Movie |
Ravana (IAST: Rāvaṇa; /ˈrɑːvənə/;[1] Sanskrit: रावण), Tamil: இராவணன், is the primary antagonist in the ancient Hindu epic Ramayana where he is depicted as a Rakshasa, the Great king of Lanka.[a][2][3] Ravana is the son of Vishrava and Kaikesi and grandson of Pulastya.
Ravana, a devotee of Shiva, is depicted and described as a great scholar, a capable ruler and a maestro of the veena (plucked stringed instrument). He is also described as extremely powerful and has ten heads. His paramount ambition was to overpower and dominate the devas. His ten heads represent his knowledge of the six shastras and the four Vedas. In the Ramayana, Ravana kidnaps Rama's wife Sita to exact vengeance on Rama and his brother Lakshmana for having cut off the ears and nose of his sister Shurpanakha.[4]
Ravana, as a practitioner of Buddhism, is a major character in Buddhist texts such as the Laṅkāvatāra Sūtra and the Gathering of Intentions, a text of the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism.[5]
Ravana is worshipped by Hindus in some parts of India, Sri Lanka and Bali (in Indonesia.)[6][7][8] He is considered to be the most revered devotee of Shiva. Images of Ravana are seen associated with Shiva at some places.
The word Rāvaṇa means roaring opposite of Vaiśravaṇa meaning hear distinctly (passive).[9] Both Ravana and Vaiśravaṇa, who is popularly known as Kubera, are considered to be patronymics derived as sons of Vishrava.[10]
According to F. E. Pargiter, the word may originally have been a Sanskritisation of Iraivan, the Tamil name for a lord or king
Ravana was capable of ten things.People showed these things by giving 10 heads for his memories. But Ravana is depicted as having ten heads, although sometimes he is shown with only nine heads because he has sacrificed a head to convince Shiva. However, in some stories in Java told that every year, Ravana cuts one of his heads every year and presents it to Shiva as representative of his devotion. Each head was reflecting his desire. By cutting it and presenting it, he was sacrificing one of his many desires to appease Shiva. He kept doing it every year until the last one. It turned out that the last head was considered as the true head of Ravana and Shiva considered his devoutness is a worthy one and his sacrifices were accepted.[citation needed] He is described as a devout follower of Shiva, a great scholar, a capable ruler and a maestro of the Veena. Ravana is also depicted as the author of the Ravana Samhita, a book on Hindu astrology, and of the Arka Prakasham, a book on Siddha medicine and treatment. Ravana possessed a thorough knowledge of Siddha and political science. He is said to have possessed the nectar of immortality, which was stored inside his belly, thanks to a celestial boon by Brahma.
Ravana was born to a great sage, Vishrava (or Vesamuni) and his wife, the daitya princess Kaikesi. People of Bisrakh village in Uttar Pradesh claim that their village was named after Vishrava and that Ravana was born there
Ravana, as a practitioner of Buddhism, is a major character in Buddhist texts such as the Laṅkāvatāra Sūtra and the Gathering of Intentions, a text of the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism.
According to Uttara Kaanda section of Ramayana, the Rakshasa (also known as Raksha) clan were the inhabitants of Lanka. The Raksha vanish from history after their mention in the Ramayana, except in Sri Lankan folk stories. European scholars[which?] consider the story of Ravana and the Raksha to have been made in historic times, due to knowledge of Sri Lankan locations mentioned in the stories and therefore the story is considered not to be based on fact
There are some Shiva temples where Ravana is worshipped.[18][19][20]
Koneswaram temple, Dhen-Dakshina Kailasam is a classical-medieval Hindu temple complex in Trincomalee, a Hindu religious pilgrimage centre in Eastern Province, Sri Lanka. These temples are associated with Ravana and his mother. They had worshiped Shiva at the shrine.[citation needed]
Kanniya Hot water spring in Sri Lanka has the history from King Ravana era. It says that King Ravana stuck the earth with his sword in several spots for his mother's funeral event and several fountains were started on those places. The water was hot and it is now a tourist attraction in Sri Lanka.[citation needed]
The Sachora Brahmins of Gujarat claim descent from Ravana and sometimes have Ravan as their surname.[21]
There is also reference to the Ravani lineage of Upadhyaya Yasastrata II, who was of Gautama gotra and was a son of Acharya Vasudatta, and described as born of Ravani.[

Dinosaurs of the Lost Continent | Dr. Scott Sampson
Paleontologist Dr. Scott Sampson's public lecture about the ancient lost continent of Laramidia and the remarkable dinosaurs that lived there.
For more than a century, paleontologists have been collecting abundant, often spectacular dinosaur fossils from the Western Interior of North America, with the bulk of these remains found in rocks dating to the final stages of the Cretaceous Period. Only recently have we learned that most of these dinosaurs—among them horned, duck-billed, dome-headed, and armored plant-eaters, as well as giant tyrannosaur meat-eaters and smaller “raptor-like” predators—existed on a “lost continent,” today referred to as “Laramidia.
About 96 million years ago, exceptionally high sea levels flooded central North America, resulting in a north-south oriented seaway extending from the Arctic Ocean to the Gulf of Mexico. This shallow sea isolated life-forms on the eastern and western landmasses for most the next 26 million years.
We know little of what happened on the eastern landmass, but its western counterpart, Laramidia, witnessed a tremendous florescence of dinosaurs and other Cretaceous life-forms. Surprisingly, despite the small size of Laramidia (less than one-quarter the size of present day North America) and giant sizes of many of the dinosaurs, different species co-existed in the northern and southern regions, at least during certain intervals. How were so many giant animals able to co-exist on such a diminutive landmass? Why were most of these dinosaurs adorned with bizarre bony features such as horns, crests, domes, or spikes? What lessons do these ancient fossils have for humans living on a warming planet?
