Downtown Jonesboro Georgia
Jonesboro is a city in Clayton County, Georgia, United States. There are numerous attractions in Jonesboro including: Arts Clayton Gallery, Atlanta State Farmers Market, Clayton County International Park, Georgia Archives, Gone with the Wind Tour, Lee Street Park, Melvinia Shield Monument, National Archives at Atlanta, Newman Wetlands Center, Reynolds Nature Preserve, Road to Tara Museum, Southern Belles and Whistles Tour, Spivey Hall, Stately Oaks Plantation.
The city's name was originally spelled Jonesborough. During the Civil War, the final skirmish in the Atlanta Campaign was fought here south of Atlanta, cutting off the city and forcing the mayor of Atlanta to surrender at Marietta in early September 1864. The final fall of Atlanta in the Battle of Jonesborough ended up being a decisive point in the nation's history, propelling Abraham Lincoln to re-election two months later, and continuing the war until the Confederacy finally surrendered the following year. TARA MUSEUM JONESBORO GEORGIA / GONE WITH THE WIND
TARA MUSEUM JONESBORO GEORGIA / GONE WITH THE WIND - This video is a bit of a change from my normal motovlogs. I actually rode my motorcycle to the Gone With The Wind Museum and this is footage from inside. While I have never actually saw the movie I did find the museum and the history contained within very interesting. It is a fairly small museum that is set in a train station. They also offer bus tours twice a day. Thanks for going to the museum with me and I will see you in the next video. Until then, ride safe!!

JB's Journal - Gone With The Wind Museum
Margaret Mitchell's book Gone With the Wind recently celebrated its 75th anniversary of being published. The book and the movie still remain popular today. This week on J.B.'s Journal, we'll take you to Jefferson, Texas and inside Scarlett O'Hardy's.

An interesting piece of trivia...Gone With the Wind won best picture from the Academy Awards in 1939 over another popular movie, the Wizard of Oz released that same year. Also Judy Garland was originally signed to play one of Scarlett's sisters but was recast when she received the role of Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz.

Margaret Mitchell didn't have to look far from her families' home in Jonesboro to find stories of babies being born during the fighting. We all remember the scene where Melanie has the baby in Atlanta amid the artillery shells falling, and into the wagon she goes with Rhett, Scarlett, and Prissy as they made their way to Tara in Jonesboro.
Join Peter Bonner as he shares another of the true stories that fill the pages of Jonesboro's history and the pages of America's best-loved story of the Old South, Gone With the Wind.

Wonderful couple moving from New Jersey to Atlanta to retire. I helped then find this home in one visit. They needed a home that would work with a senior citizen that's still lively enough that they need their own space.
