See the World’s Oldest Dress The world’s oldest woven garment, called the Tarkhan Dress, proba 5,100 to 5,500 years old, it dates to the dawn of the kingdom of Egyp Beautifully stitched and pleated, it signals the complexity and wealth of the ancient society The garment, known as the Tarkhan dress, is a find of surpassing rarity. Few pieces of early clothing, which was made from plant fibers or animal skins, escaped disintegration. Textiles recovered from archaeological sites are generally no older than 2,000 years, says Alice Stevenson, curator of London’s Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology and an author of a new study in the journal Antiquity about the dress’s age.
YOU MIGHT ALSO LIKE Such fine detail could only have been turned out by a specialized craftsperson. And such people arise only in a prosperous and hierarchical society, such as the ancient Egypt of 5,000 years ago, a time when the kingdom was first united under a single ruler.
Creases at the elbows and armpits also hint that someone once wore the dress; it wasn’t just ceremonial. After spending five millennia in an Egyptian tomb, the dress was sent to the Petrie by archaeologists in the early 1900s. But it was entwined in a bundle of filthy rags and overlooked. Not until conservation experts sorted through the bundle in 1977 did they stumble across the garment. It looks like a tattered shirt, but similar attire from a few centuries later is floor-length, and it’s likely the Tarkhan garment was originally longer, Stevenson says.
Only the upper crust could’ve afforded such a dress. Tombstones of roughly the same age as the dress depict people wearing similar robes, says Jana Jones of Australia’s Macquarie University, adding that the hieroglyph for “dress” features on lists of items taken to the afterlife, along with food and cosmetics.
“I am delighted to read that the Tarkhan Dress has been securely radiocarbon dated and that science has restored it to its rightful place as the earliest woven garment,” Jones says via email. The woolen trousers are another record-setter: the world’s oldest known pants. They were found in the grave of a nomadic herdsman buried 3,000 or so years ago in what is now western China, and may have been invented for horseback riding.

We have recently completed this stunning neo classical home design in Lockleys, Adelaide.
Throughout the entire house, there has been a multitude of fine detailing meticulously modelled to create the ultimate neo classical home. The central double staircase becomes the centrepiece to this home, which is encapsulated by the perfectly circular room, topped off with a ceiling dome that includes a large central skylight to bring natural light to this impressive space.
The main living area to the house boasts 5 metre ceilings with a detailed fireplace and high level windows to allow the maximum amount of passive light to enter in winter.
As well as a generous main kitchen, there is also a walkthrough butlers kitchen which flows through from the garage and also allows access to the private lift and laundry.
Wrought iron balustrades with custom timber handrails guide you gently up to the second floor which houses 2 bedrooms, an open rumpus room and a generous master bedroom with a deluxe ensuite and both a his and hers walk in robe. The master ensuite features a central step up circular spa with a floating bulkhead above.
The outdoor entertainment area has been designed for all year round comfort and enjoyability. as well as a large outdoor kitchen, it also includes a fully fledged pizza oven and feature fireplace with tv niched above. A gym and sauna are housed either side of the outdoor fireplace, tucking in behind the main central staircase lobby for maximum use of the floor plan.
The pool is featured in a black and white terrazzo tile with a greek key water edge tile framing the pool. A custom made tiled medusa head features in the centre of the pool with white tile bordering. A grand raised spa pavilion ends the pool with a stepped water cascade, creating the ultimate place for relaxation at anytime of the year.
A large pavilion at the rear of the property becomes the secluded getaway for anyone to enjoy the company of friends and family in a fun and enjoyable space. The DJ decks area with a combined bar and sound speaker system creates the centrepiece to the space.
From the rear feature fountain right through to the front facade, the house perfectly balances form and symmetry.

Late abstract painter Kim Whan-ki has once again smashed the auction price record for Korean artists.
According to Seoul Auction,... Kim's red-dot painting of 1972 was sold for some seven-point-nine million U.S. dollars on Sunday at the auction house's sale in Hong Kong.
He now holds the six most expensive Korean works of art to be auctioned,... including his abstract painting Tranquility which was sold for over six million dollars at an auction last year in Seoul.

Make your Own Wizards Suitcase of Spells - Curiosities and Oddities
Hi everyone and welcome to Faewood! I decided to create a suitcase filled with interesting wizards supplies perfect for casting any spells! This can also be used to store craft supplies in bottles at the front and pinned items for craft in the base if you like. I also show you how to make the spell scrolls I have in the suitcase. This is the first video using my new microphone as well so hopefully the quality of the sounds is better for you guys xx

NOTE: yes I do realize that I have mixed up East and West.

This video is about how to make an altar place. Its not fancy or anything like that. To learn more about my runes check my other video.
To use candles; some say you should not blow them out because you will be mixing air and fire together. Same with licking your fingers, as saliva is water-based and mixing water and fire are oppisent elements.
