Family- Friendly Things To Do In Springfield.
As any parent will attest, there’s no such thing as too many play options! Fortunately the Springfield region of Ipswich, QLD, has no shortage of free, public, all–ages, accessible playgrounds of world-class proportions.
If you’re seeking space, Robelle Domain has acres of grass to roll around in – 24 hectares to be exact. It also has an amazing amount of rec facilities to appeal to families, including a big modern playground area, exercise equipment, walking trails, BBQs and picnic tables, and an onsite cafe.
There’s also a zero-depth waterpark with giant tipping bucket and water spouts to delight the kids on warmer days.
With so much open space, there’s also lots of pathways for kids to practice their bike, scooter or skate skills.
Follow the signs to scoot on over to Oh- Ryan Lagoon. This free public swimming haven features a series of pools interconnected to a larger central lagoon, with areas across a mix of depths between .3 meters for the little tykes to 1.5 m, nice for busting out a few strokes.
Onsite you’ll find lifeguards on duty, lockers to put away any valuables, showers and amenities, picnic and BBQ areas, and the popular Lagoon Café.
Lastly, if you’re heading to or from Ipswich CBD then the giant play area at Ripley’s Slash & Play is on the way and just begging for a stopover. The skywalk rope climbing area and slides are impressively monster-sized and sure to delight any little thrill seekers in your entourage.
Smaller children and toddlers are also well catered for with zero depth water play areas and more petite-sized climb and play zones, and there’s a great café here onsite too.
All three parks are free entry and offer good times for the whole family – visit one or visit them all for a play day itinerary.
