Opening of the spillway gates at Robert-Bourassa generating station
From October 11 to 14, 2018, a rare event took place at the Robert-Bourassa facility: the eight spillway gates were opened, one after the other, letting the water flow through at full capacity. These tests are part of Hydro-Québec’s dam safety program. Testing is performed every year, but the spillway gates are usually opened only to about 10%. This was the first time since 1987 that such a large flow was let through the gates.

LG1 (Québec, Canada)
La-Grande-1 (LG-1) is a power generating station on the Grand River (La Grande Rivière), in northern Québec, Canada. The river flows roughly 900 km (560 mi) west to drain into the James Bay. It is the second largest river in Québec, surpassed only by the Saint Lawrence River. The LG-1 is a hydroelectric generating station apart of Hydro-Québec's James Bay Project, and can generate 1,436 MW of electricity. It was commissioned in 19941995. This video was taken on October 17, 2007. I drove my car from Toronto to Longue Point (north of LG-1).
