Welcome To Robinsons Brewery
Based in the heart of Stockport for almost two centuries, and owning 300 pubs, inns and hotels across the North West, ‘Robinsons’ is one of oldest and most respected names in British brewing history.
A proud family of independent brewers, Robinsons is one of the most advanced and sophisticated breweries in the UK, with a worldwide reputation for real ale. It’s also home to the largest hopnik in the world. From here we apply decades of experience to create exciting new varieties and choices of flavour that will lead us towards our next award-winning beer.
Combining original recipe heritage brews such as Old Tom (first brewed in 1899) and Unicorn (legendary since 1896) with innovative young ales such as Dizzy Blonde, Wizard and TROOPER (created with Iron Maiden) is what differentiates Robinsons… forward-thinking with the very best traditions. It’s an award winning formula which has earned Robinsons real ale recognition for almost 180 years.
To maintain our exceptional consistency and beer excellence, our brewing methods are a carefully controlled combination of temperature, timing and flow rates. This helps us reduce variation and save on time, materials and utilities. The end result? The unmistakable taste of Robinsons beer.
Robinsons – brewing perfection since 1838.

Beer - Old Tom The Original
Style - Strong/Old Ale
ABV - 8.5%

Commercial Description - Named after Robinsons' brewery cat, Old Tom is almost as old as the brewery itself. It is recognised, both nationally and internationally, as one of the most famous strong ales, winning some of the industry’s most prestigious awards including World’s Best Ale. Old Tom is dark, rich and warming with a cherry brandy like colour and character. This strong ale has a booming balance of ripe malt, and peppery hops combined with roasted nut and chocolate flavours with a smoky richness. A distinctive deep port wine finish with bitter hops balance complemented by heady, vinous aromas of dark fruit. Changed from nip size to 330ml embossed bottle in 2006. First record of brewing in 1899. Ingredients: British pale malt, crystal malt, small percentage of chocolate malt, caramel for colour adjustment. Goldings whole hops and small percentage of Northdown.

This was also called the Angel Bridge (after the Angel Inn on Market Place). It consists of five arches, designed by Rawlinson and built by Peter Pierce. It opened on 24th February 1868, costing £10,500. The span above Little Underbank is 27 feet 3 inches long and the bridge bears the Borough's coat of arms.
Robinson's Brewery
In 1838, William Robinson purchased the Unicorn Inn, Lower Hillgate and his son Frederic joined him in 1865 when he started to brew his own beer on this site.
Merseyway shopping centre
Large Shopping Centre in Stockport, forming the basis of the town's shopping area. It was opened in 1965 and extensively refurbished in 1995.

Robinsons Brewery Present MOJO - A Brand New Seasonal Beer
Robinsons present MOJO - A 3.7% amber ale - available throughout March and April 2015.
MOJO continues what has already been a successful year for Robinsons with their first seasonal beer, Voodoo Dawn, selling over 120,000 pints in just two months across their 300 strong estate and national listings.
Gill Yates, Brands Manager for Robinsons Brewery said: “The response we received for Voodoo Dawn has been incredible with beer volume up in comparison to last year’s seasonal, we hope to continue this success with MOJO and all our seasonal beers this year!”
MOJO is a quintessential British ale brewed using only Goldings and First Gold English hops. The resulting beer is a crisp, dry, 3.7% ABV amber beer with the perfect balance of fruity aromas and traditional hoppy flavours which results in a memorable and moreish brew.
