Rochester, Kent, UK
Rochester in Kent is an ideal place for a day trip from London. In my case I went there by camper van and left it parked in a pay and display car park with no height restrictions from whence we were able to see something of this historic town with its castle, cathedrals and streets which are highly reminiscent of the works of Charles Dickens.
I managed to get some wonderful views of the Medway into this film, filmed from the top of the battlements of Rochester castle. I think that they are some of the best shots I have ever got!
My channel on you tube : is one of the most prolific from Poland. I have produced over 2,100 original films.
My big interest in life is travel and history but I have also placed films on other subjects.
Please feel free to ask questions in the public area or to comment on things you disagree with. Sometimes there are mistakes because I speak without preparation. If I see the mistakes myself, I make this clear in the text. Please also leave a star rating!
I am very fortunate that I can spend a large part of my life travelling, thanks to the business I chose to run which allows me to do this. There are a number of films here on the packaging industry. This is because I am the publisher of Central and Eastern European Packaging -- - the international platform for the packaging industry in this region focusing on the latest innovations, trends, design, branding, legislation and environmental issues with in-depth profiles of major industry achievers.
Most people may think packaging pretty boring but it possibly effects your life more than you really imagine!
Central and Eastern European Packaging examines the packaging industry throughout this region, but in particular in the largest regional economies which are Russia, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Ukraine and Austria. That is not to say that the other countries are forgotten, they are not, but obviously there is less going on. However the fact that there are so many travel related films here is not from holidays but from business trips attending trade fairs around the region. Every packaging trade fair is a new excuse to make another film!

Rochester Cathedral : Lunch / Rochester Castle/
Double time sa practice drive while off si hubby at no school si Luke. We went to Rochester Kent for a drive. We visited the Cathedral and it's beautiful inside and out. It's a place of Christian worship since AD604. I love all the little tiny details and the huge windows, high ceilings and elaborate beams.
The castle on the other hand was not available this time of the year for viewing. But the view from the river is amazing. It's clean and tidy, a good place to sit and enjoy the peace and quiet. This place is for sure packed with people especially for the summer season.
Hope you will enjoy watching this video guys and so sorry for my coughing. I tried my best to edit and mute the video but just in case I missed a few, which I'm sure I did ????, pardon me people. My cough loves me so much it doesn't want to leave me alone ????.
A Day Trip To Rochester, Kent | ad
Rochester in Kent makes a great wintery day trip, just 45 minutes from central London with Southeastern Railway.
With a beautiful high street lined with historic buildings, Rochester Cathedral and Rochester Castle – one of the best-preserved and finest example of Norman architecture in England, there’s plenty of things to see and do.
It’s also filled with independent stores and hidden gems. There’s Pips of Rochester, a lovely local greengrocers selling local produce, Kiss Kiss Heart and Paloma Studio which sell gorgeous gifts and Dickens House Wine Emporium – a wine store in a building that was once the apothecary where Charles Dickens collected his medicines.
The food scene in Rochester is also pretty special. Topes is the place for the best food in the town, serving gourmet dishes including pigeon, mackerel and sea bream. Fleur De Thé is a cute tea room / gift shop. It’s super photogenic and wow do they make a good cuppa!
Another great hidden gem was Playopolis Board Games Café just around the end of the high street. Opened last year, this family run board game café has over 700 board games, plus they serve fun cocktails too including Butterbeer!
Find out more about my day trip to Rochester in my blog packed with the top things to do, places to eat and great photo opportunities:

Rochester Castle (5th Anniversary of Medieval Richard) (England)
Tour of Rochester Castle - 25/8/17
*Today marks the 5th Anniversary of Medieval Richard. On the 25th of August 2012, I set out early for Rochester Castle to film and thus create Medieval Richard. Rochester Castle was the first trip I ever filmed for my Medieval Richard travels and back then I had no idea how much it would take off in the years to follow.
However, and as some of you may know, the original footage for that trip got lost and never went live on the channel to start. So, the Rochester footage never saw the light of day unfortunately!
As it's 5 years to the day, I just had to go back and film the magnificent castle for the occasion. This time the Rochester Castle trip would go live!
Music by John Renbourn
Rochester Castle stands on the east bank of the River Medway in Rochester, Kent, South East England. The 12th-century keep or stone tower, which is the castle's most prominent feature, is one of the best preserved in England or France.

UK: Mini-golf course installed in Rochester cathedral’s medieval nave

A mini-golf course installed in Rochester Cathedral's medieval nave is helping to bridge the gap between the church and young people in the community, the Dean of Rochester said on Tuesday.
The bridge-themed golf course, designed and funded by Rochester Bridge Trust, features models of famous bridges from all around Kent and the UK. In keeping with the theme, the church reportedly aims to encourage people to reflect on the bridges they need to build in their personal lives, while the trust’s aim is more literal – they want young people to consider a future as civil engineers.
The Dean of Rochester, Philip Hesketh, explained that the pairing of church and sport has not come without its critics, with some taking to social media to criticise the project.
“There have been some people who have been a bit upset by it, but, you know, that's inevitable really,” he said, adding that he considered the project to be a success which has received positive feedback from the community.
“Over 300 young people and their families [come to the event] every day, and they're loving it, and they're engaging with this fantastic building, which they would never come into otherwise, asking questions, saying prayers, it's brilliant, he said.
The event will run throughout the entirety of August.
