Climbing the Totem Pole - Tasmania
In spring 2017, we set out to Australia to go climb in the Grampians and Tasmania. Of Course, the Totem Pole had to be on top of the list!
To get there you need to travel to the end of the world, Tasmania, then hike 2hrs and scrample around the cliff. Abseil into the darkness and go for it!
We took the classical Free Route / Deep Play - 7b.
Climbers are Daniel and Bastian. Thanks for the awesome trip to Claudi, Isa and Maik!
The Pommish Invasion - Climbing In Australia - The Blue Mountains and Tasmania
The Pommish Invasion
Jonathan Doyle (JD) heads to Australia to meet Matt Amos and Ben Cianchi, two of his best friends studying there. They head out to the Blue Mountains and Tasmania on a three week adventure to discover how Aussie climbing stacks up against climbing in the UK.
Along the way they sport climb for the very first time, summit the highest mountain JD has ever climbed and meet their biggest and most committing challenge yet.
It is a story of three guys exploring sharing a true adventure and pushing themselves further than they could have imagined.

Climbing Tasmania's Totem Pole (7.30 Report)
The rugged sea cliffs that tower along the Tasman Peninsula are home to one of the most iconic playgrounds for outdoor rock climbing, the Totem Pole.
The ABC's 7.30 program joined a group of climbers filming an ascent of the narrow 60-metre sea stack at Cape Hauy.
It's one of the first really remote climbing locations that I remember seeing a picture of, American climber Libby Sauter says.
Being on the sides of cliffs going up them and just being out in the wild is where we get our jollies.
Adding to the challenge is the notorious Tassie weather, with high winds and a thick sea mist setting in as the team begins to climb...
Climbing Mt Ossa - Tasmania's Highest Peak - Travel Vlog EP7
12 hours ago I was enjoying a warm meal; heck even 12 minutes ago I was sitting in a warm car with my shoes still on my feet. Now, I was experiencing the vastly different sensation of being shin deep in ice cold water wading through a flooded creek with skis and boots slung over my shoulder, convinced they were conspiring with my pack to topple me into the freezing wet misery. I’ve found over the years not to be surprised anymore by situations like this when traveling with Chris Booth. Chris was a childhood friend from Perisher Ski Resort in the Snowy Mountains. He embodied the “ain’t no valley low, ain’t no river wide, ain’t no mountain high enough, baby” attitude. In this case, the valley had received an unusual 6 inches of snow overnight, the river was a subzero submerged section of the Overland track, and the mountain, although our objective, was nowhere in sight.
