Archived from 6/4/2019
Welcome back to “Legends of Lancaster,” sponsored by the Lancaster Barnstormers. This exclusive LancasterOnline video series goes in-depth into the lore and legends of Lancaster County. These mini-documentaries touch on everything from intriguing history, to colorful myths, to various tall tales that have been passed down through generations.
In this episode, videographer Tyler Huber explores the haunted history at Rock Ford Plantation. Rock Ford was the former home of revolutionary war general Edward Hand and his family.
Four members of the Hand family passed away in the home. John Hand, Edward’s son, tragically committed suicide there in 1807. Because of that fact, the house quickly became rumored as haunted. Huber talked with Rock Ford’s Sam Slaymaker to learn about the dark history of the home and to hear stories of the strangest things people have experienced there over the years.

Legends of Lancaster - The Albatwitch
Originally uploaded to LancasterOnline.com on September 21, 2018.
In the first episode, videographer Tyler Huber takes a look at the elusive Albatwitch, Lancaster’s very own little Bigfoot.
Legend says this small, hairy creature would terrorize picnickers up at Chickies Rock in the 1800s by stealing their apples and pelting the cores back at them. Huber talked to researchers who have heard stories of sightings over the years and also talked with one man who encountered something very strange while driving off of Route 23 in 2002.

Legends of Lancaster - Mondale Road Bridge
Archived from 6/10/2019
Welcome back to “Legends of Lancaster,” sponsored by the Lancaster Barnstormers. This exclusive LancasterOnline video series goes in-depth into the lore and legends of Lancaster County. These mini-documentaries touch on everything from intriguing history, to colorful myths, to various tall tales that have been passed down through generations.
In this episode, videographer Tyler Huber takes a trip to two covered bridges off of Mondale Road: the Hunsecker’s Mill Covered Bridge and the Pinetown Covered Bridge. One of these bridges is claimed to be haunted but sources make it unclear which one. Legend says a little Amish girl was playing on one of these bridges one day and fell over into the water and drowned. There is no record of this death but that didn’t stop this story from circulating. There is a dare that involves visiting the bridge at night, parking the car in the middle of it and turning off all the lights. Huber tested this dare out himself at both bridges to see if he experienced any paranormal phenomena.

What you are watching is what it looks like to be me in your passive aggressive world. My name is Jeffhfromoxford, but I don't live in Oxford (Ohio) anymore. My YouTube documentary project currently has about 4500 videos, all of which I created from video-recording the world around me. As far as your angry comments, don't waste your time: I don't care what you think about me or my videos. However, if the subject of the video or another comment interests you, feel free to add comments. I have all of the videos set to allow me to moderate comments. I don't censor or editorialize with your comments. People are going to think what they think, and I'm not about telling people what to do or how to think. I do, however, delete and ban haters and rude/obscene people. I'm probably older than you, maybe old enough to be your father, or at least, an interesting older uncle, who dresses well and carries himself with some dignity and a sense of flair.

SUMMARY
=======
English Americans (also referred to as Anglo-Americans) are Americans whose ancestry originates wholly or partly in England.
In the 2017 American Community Survey, English Americans are (7.1%) of the total population. However, demographers regard this as a serious undercount, as the index of inconsistency is high and many if not most Americans from English stock have a tendency to identify simply as Americans or if of mixed European ancestry, identify with a more recent and differentiated ethnic group.
In the 1980 Census, over 49 million (49,598,035) Americans claimed English ancestry, at the time around 26.34% of the total population and largest reported group which, even today, would make them the largest ethnic group in the United States. Scotch-Irish Americans are for the most part descendants of Lowland Scots and Northern English (specifically - County Durham, Cumberland, Northumberland and Yorkshire) settlers who colonized Ireland during the Plantation of Ulster in the 17th century.
In 1982, an opinion poll showed respondents a card listing a number of ethnic groups and asked, Thinking both of what they have contributed to this country and have gotten from this country, for each one tell me whether you think, on balance, they've been a good or a bad thing for this country. The English were the top ethnic group, with 66% saying they were a good thing for the United States, followed by the Irish at 62%. Ben J. Wattenberg argues that this poll demonstrates a general American bias against Hispanics and other recent immigrant populations. The majority—57%--of the Founding Fathers of the United States were of English extraction.
English immigrants in the 19th century, as with other groups, sought economic prosperity. They began migrating in large numbers without state support, 1840s to 1890s.
