Jake and I finally took the trip north to Squamish, BC to see what all the fuss is about. Well, the bouldering up there is just as good, if not better, than everyone says! Sadly we were only able to stay for 3 days, but we got a solid taste of the climbing, and we'll definitely be back for more!
HUGE shout out to Alan and George for giving us a tour, and inviting us to come climb with them! It was great fun meeting you guys, let's do it again sometime!
We got on a lot of routes, but didn't quite climb as hard as we would have liked. But that's okay! There's plenty of time to go back and get on some harder problems, they aren't going anywhere! Until next time, Squamish!

HOW TO RIDE GOURANGA, FOR NORMAL PEOPLE - RideHub Trail Physics S1:E3
In this episode of Trail Physics, RideHub's Principal Instructor Matt Trotter spends some quality time on the infamous Gouranga rock slab in #Squamish giving some sanity to the insanity. This trail was featured in the Squamish Enduro in 2018 and a video was made by Pinkbike about this exit slab claiming it as the gnarliest enduro stage ever. The Gouranga exit is a solid double black feature and should only be ridden by riders who can exhibit the utmost bike handling skills and this video will detail why and the common mistakes that riders make when attempting this move.

Flying the 18m Yak off the Squamish Chief South Peak
Mini wing lap. Truck to summit to beach 1 hour! Total weight of the harness and wing is 3kg so the hike up is pretty sweet. You can get some good soaring off the Malamute if you are solid with 20knot winds! Landing zone beneath the malamute is filling up with logs and machinery so I would look to the main beach as a go to LZ(Sept 2014) This was my second time launching here and I love the setup off the South Peak. Still haven't done the Penthouse launch....

Black Tusk Mountain
Black Tusk mountain is in Garibaldi Park in BC, North of Vancouver. The hike was amazing, at 25 KM to get to the top it was a rough hike, not for beginners. The view was awesome, the colors look unreal and the lake was really that color! It was very treacherous at the top, lots of loose rock.
Mount Bryce
Here's a new one I opened with Aurelien Chatard, in Canada. Epic in every sense. 100km approach on a logging road. Then a solid 4 hour+ hike from the car, across a river, and up steep scree, to the glacier where we slept overnight. Super early start to beat the melting snow, 3 hours up a steep snow slope to the summit, then a couple more hours to get down to the exit and geared up. Nice flight, although the last 1000m is a skydive. Next time I'd head right after the glacier to stay with the terrain, landing on another logging road. This one has 2500m total flyable altitude, making it the biggest jump in Canada, and all of North America I believe. Super special thanks to Tash and Val, for hiking down with the tents and our sleeping bags.

BCMC extends Sigurd Trail
Fall 2014, the British Columbia Mountaineering Club extended the Sigurd Trail in Tantalus Provincial Park. The club funded helicopter flights for the work party, consisting of Paul Kubik, Peter Malacarne and dog Linus. The five day camp built a one kilometer extension of the Sigurd Trail into the Moraine Camp at 1200 meters elevation in the glacial outwash plain below the Pelion-Ossa Glacier. A latrine was prefabricated in Vancouver and assembled on site. The route to Ossa Camp on the west ridge of Ossa Mountain was flagged.

December 20, 1983 Covert Basin is located 6 km due north of Oliver and it contains an example of the fluviatile type of surficial U deposit .
The deposit occurs in an ancient meander (oxbow), which is now a valley margin swamp, on the flood plain of the Okanagan River where it has eroded into a glacial terrace. Uraniferous groundwaters are infiltrating from side drainages into the porous terrace and uranium deposits occur where the uranium is adsorbed and probably reduced, in this case, in some peaty layers. The deposit contains about 30 t of U308
Triuranium octoxide (U3O8) is a compound of uranium. It is present as an olive green to black, odorless solid. It is one of the more popular forms of yellowcake and is shipped between mills and refineries in this form.
Triuranium octoxide occurs naturally as the olive-green-colored mineral pitchblende. U3O8 is readily produced from UF6 and has potential long-term stability in a geologic environment. In the presence of oxygen (O2), uranium dioxide (UO2) is oxidized to U3O8, whereas uranium trioxide (UO3) loses oxygen at temperatures above 500 °C and is reduced to U3O8. The compound can be produced by any one of three primary chemical conversion processes, involving either uranium tetrafluoride (UF4) or uranyl fluoride (UO2F2) as intermediates, under normal environmental conditions, U3O8 is one of the most kinetically and thermodynamically stable forms of uranium and also because it is the form of uranium found in nature. Its particle density is 8.3 g cm−3.
