Roebling Museum tells the manufacturing history behind some of the most famous suspension bridges and the people that made it possible. The Main Gate Building has exhibits on wire rope made in Roebling. It had many uses including building the George Washington Bridge and the Golden Gate Bridge. Grounds display equipment that helped create engineering wonders of the modern world.

Trenton Makes The World Takes
In 1960 this 1920 Mercer Limousine, the only example know to exist, was formerly owned by Mr. Barry Rednor of Trenton, New Jersey. Mr. Rednor was approached by a film maker and representative of US Steel Corporation to have this historic automobile, which was produced in Trenton, New Jersey by the Kuser and Roebling families, in this promotional film. Mr. Rednor was the owner of this automobile from 1939 to 1999. However US Steel was in direct competition with the John A. Roebling and Sons Steel Company. The Roebling Company and its wire rope epitomized Trenton Makes The World Takes for 125 years. The factory closed 40 years ago, and 20 years ago we videotaped the oral histories of 13 former Roebling employees with support from the N.J. Council for the Humanities. Telequest of Princeton shot the interviews and edited the documentary film which will be shown on its 20th anniversary at Art All Night, the annual arts festival in the Roebling Machine Shop in Trenton. The interviews provide poignant viewpoints of work and life in the waning years of America's industrial era, and several excerpts appear in The Roebling Legacy (roeblinglegacy.com).
