U.S. House: Debate & Vote on Articles of Impeachment
The House Rules Committee debates and votes on two articles of impeachment against President Trump: abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.
Trickett's Tickets: Continental Congress Bookbinder and his Blank Books Made in the USA, 1775-1780.
This video discusses the colonial emigrant bookbinder William Trickett (ca. 1738–1780), the only American whose ticketed bindings can be found among the records of the Continental
Congress, the first government of the United States of America (USA). Trickett was a stationer, a Freemason, and may have been a Patriot during the Revolutionary War.[1] As of 2017, the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) retains probably the
largest collection of Trickett bindings. Biographical information about Trickett, combined with his well-preserved handiwork, e.g., his distinct style of using tickets, tools, and materials to construct and decorate the covers of the books he sold, help to unravel a mystery, and what was once thought to be an impossible task, that of identifying who bound-by-hand blankbooks that now contain the USA’s earliest manuscript records.[2] Presented in this video are Trickett’s five “tickets,” a type of trade or business card attached inside his bindings, serving as a signature. Ticketed Trickett bindings help to attribute some of NARA’s twenty-nine additional, but ticketless, originals to him. The significant content captured in Trickett’s blankbooks includes the Founders’ real-time minute entries, indicating the USA’s declaration of independence from Britain.[3] These bindings should be preserved as artifacts
and are as American as the words contained within.[4]
[1] In this instance, a Patriot refers to an American colonist who rebelled against the British in 1776. The American Revolution lasted from 1775 to 1783.
[2] This essay is dedicated to the memory of Willman (1920–2010) and Carol (1929–2016) Spawn. I adopted the methodology they developed over sixty years, that of connecting biographical facts about bookbinders with the material features they leave behind on the books they made and decorated. Later, Tom Kinsella joined their efforts. They encouraged my work and taught me their techniques. In addition to providing me with numerous photocopies of their articles, they shared a six-page document of unpublished Trickett research with me, referred to herein as “Spawn’s unpublished research.”

It contains the 4 July 1776 entry on pp. 94–97 and an 11 July 1776 entry on p. 124, indicating that Congress paid Trickett for stationery; see Appendix 4. Trickett’s Accounts, #2. Dean Miller IRG on WCPO-TV Ch. 9 (ABC in Cincy) at Huhtamaki Ford Batavia
Enjoy IRG Vice President Dean Miller and the WCPO-TV Channel 9 (ABC in Cincinnati) report on the new Huhtamaki facility at the Ford Batavia plant in Clermont County, outside Cincinnati (Dean's interview at 2:07).
We definitely have some land left here, Miller told WCPO-TV Channel 9 Reporter Tom McKee. We also have another 300,000-500,000 square feet in the building here, available for lease or sale.
The Huhtamaki deal will deliver new tax revenues benefitting Batavia Township, the Batavia Schools, and the Central Joint Fire District, McKee reports.
Now this is just Phase One, there could be more jobs down the line, said McKee on the report that aired Feb. 1. Construction starts in just a few months, production could begin later this year.
Mr. Miller's full on-site interview is available at ; an on-site interview with Ed Humphrey, president of the Clermont County Board of Commissioners, can be viewed at .
The full press release from Monday, Feb. 4:
BATAVIA TOWNSHIP, CLERMONT COUNTY, Ohio ~ Feb. 4, 2013 ~ The Semarjian/Lichter team from Industrial Commerce Ltd. of Cleveland and Industrial Realty Group (IRG) of Los Angeles have fired up 2013 with a Finnish flourish, landing Huhtamaki of Finland and over 300 new jobs in their signature, inimitable adaptive reuse fashion at the former Ford Batavia Transmission plant outside of Cincinnati (Clermont County).
We are very pleased that Huhtamaki selected Ohio for this significant investment, said Kristi Tanner, managing director of JobsOhio. We would like to thank both Huhtamaki, and the Semarjian/Lichter team, for bringing new life to this former Ford facility.
Clermont County's partnership with Industrial Commerce Ltd., IRG, Huhtamaki and the State of Ohio demonstrates our commitment to making this community business-friendly, said Ed Humphrey, president of the Clermont County Board of Commissioners. We believe that the pace of redevelopment for a facility of this size is unprecedented, and the mix of business and educational resources in one location will spur more business investment, not only here, but in the surrounding area.
Huhtamaki is purchasing about half of the 1.8 million-square-foot facility, known as the Ford Batavia Transmission plant, and 60 acres. Based in Espoo, Finland, Huhtamaki is a global manufacturer of consumer and specialty packaging, a unit of Huhtamaki Oyj, founded in 1920 as Huhtamaki Industries. The deal closed on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The entire Greater Cincinnati community, particularly Clermont County, will benefit from Huhtamaki's decision to invest in further growth in the United States, said Chris Semarjian, managing principal of Industrial Commerce Ltd., IRG's partner in Ohio. We welcome Huhtamaki, and we thank the Governor, JobsOhio, and all the economic development professionals who have diligently worked for more than a year to make this project happen.
The Ford Batavia plant has seen a tremendous rebirth since its unfortunate closure in 2008, said Stu Lichter, president of IRG, citing other tenants such as UC Clermont East, Global Scrap Management and Engineered Mobile Solutions, who have established facilities at the property on James E. Sauls Sr. Drive, just south of Route 32. With Huhtamaki, the plant's legacy as the heart of this community is further restored.
Semarjian and Lichter singled out the efforts of Dean Miller, vice president of development with IRG Ohio, in putting together the deal. We are excited to welcome Huhtamaki to our project in Batavia Township. Adaptive reuse is the art of identifying, and realizing opportunity, from properties that are often associated with difficulty and the loss of jobs, and great employers, Miller said.
HUHTAMAKI: SERVING NESTLE, HERSHEY AND STARBUCKS
This investment further demonstrates Huhtamaki's commitment to serving the evolving needs of foodservice and retail customers for tableware, cups, containers, carriers and serviceware, said Clay Dunn, president of Huhtamaki North America.
As University of Cincinnati Clermont College Dean, I am happy to welcome Huhtamaki to this former manufacturing facility, said Greg Sojka. We especially look forward to partnering with them at UC East, where we have established our new workforce development Center for Manufacturing Technology. As a citizen of Clermont County, I am supportive of the 'manufacturing comeback' in our region.
Mr. Semarjian can be reached at chris@industrialcommerceltd.com; Mr. Lichter at (562) 803-4761 or slichter@industrialrealtygroup.com. Dean Miller, who will continue marketing the Ford Batavia facility with Semarjian and Lichter, as well as other Industrial Commerce/IRG facilities across Ohio and beyond, can be reached at (513) 383-8351 or dmiller@irgohio.com.

Building Amazing Homes & Mobile Spaces Using Shipping Containers!
In this video we explore and learn how to use shipping containers as strong, durable and mobile building blocks to create amazing structures of all kinds, like a house, addition, office space, or cabin; and we feature a few stunning projects to get you inspired!
Anthony Ruggiero from Storstac Inc. ( showed us around their yard in Toronto, Ontario and took the time to teach us about the ins and outs of building with shipping containers. We're excited to share the tips and information we learned with you.
Shipping containers come in standard 20 foot and 40 foot lengths, and there are other specialty custom sizes like the 10', 45', 48', 53' long containers.
Almost all shipping containers are made in China, and can be bought used (after they've been used for 10-20 years), or new, which means they've one been used once.
Since there are no shipping manifests for used containers to show what was transported in them over the course of their lifetime (it could be anything from clothes to nuclear waste), it's better to build with a new shipping container that's only been used once.
They're made with COR-TEN steel, which is a weathering steel that can withstand harsh weather conditions and elements like salt water because the rust on weathering steel creates a protective patina to keep it strong, whereas rust on mild steel would actually weaken the metal.
While building with shipping containers is not necessarily cheaper than conventional building, it does have advantages because the containers are modular, movable and mobile, durable, and have a unique, modern look.
They can be do it yourself friendly if you've worked with steel before, or if you find a company to take care of the steel work for you so you can focus on how to frame it and finish it from the inside.
Let us know what you think of shipping containers as alternative building blocks in the comments!
