Hello and welcome to Romania, I'm Jake from Holiday Extras Travel Guides and I'm here with Tom (Hello!) who's from our social team - he runs all of our social media platforms - and we're out here in Romania to shoot some lovely content for our Facebook page and everything like that and we just thought we'd give you a bit of a behind-the-scenes look at what it's like for us here on shoot so we're going to take you with us we're spending two days here shooting lots of lovely content and... yeah!(Let's see what we can see!) Yeah!
Day 1 of our trip in Romania and what we've got planned today is a lovely little sort of mini one-day castle tour and we're going to be heading to Peles Castle which is about an hour away from where we're staying then onto... ooh Rasnov Fortress and then Bran Castle from there Bran Castle is the one that's famous for having inspired Dracula whichI can't wait to see should be really really cool. Can sort of hear farm equipment and kids and stuff in the background of where we're staying there are some cows in the fields as well literally just off the balcony which is amazing very relaxing way to wake up I think. Feel very connected to nature. And the black coffee is helping as well, so. See you in a bit!
Hello! So we've just arrived at the beautiful Peles Castle which I think you can see in the background there along with dear Tom. Took us about an hour's drive to get here from where we were staying but it was a beautiful drive and the landscape was crazy. Hm suppose you can't see past the tree line but we're right in the middle of the Carpathian Mountains where
this is based and it's beautiful.
All finished up Peles Castle and now we're gonna head off to Rasnov Fortress which is about another hour's drive away but here's a quick Jake and Tom tip for you. This pathway up the to
the castle is cobbled and there are a fair few cobbles missing so I would say make sure you pack some lovely walking shoes to make it nice and easy.
So here we are on our way up the little forest path to Rasnov Fortress - Took about an hour to get here from Peles Castle which I've already said but still it was a lovely drive I really would recommend getting a hire car because the landscape here in Romania is insane and then you can do stuff like drive out to a castle that's an hour away! So. I'll see you at the top this roads getting quite steep as you can probably hear I'm already a little bit out of breath and See you when we're up there!
So here we are at the top of Rasnov Fortress and I don't know if you can see that but the view is absolutely stunning. It's brilliant.
So as you walk - we're inside Rasnov Fortress now as you walk through it not only is there stunning views in every single direction but it's also full of these like original structures as well some of which are really broken down and some others have sort of been restored and being used for tourist shops it's just really cool. To see such piece of history.
So we're on our way back down now from the top of the castle and it was stunning. I can't recommend it enough. The views of like the surrounding forest and mountains and then Rasnov down below was just crazy. Absolutely do it. And now we're gonna head to Bran Castle - hopefully catch ourselves a lovely sunset.
Here's another Jake and Tom tip - we're heading back down and this lovely little walk we showed you before but there is actually like a tractor that can take you up the hill if you don't want to do it. The walk is only about 10 minutes, but it is super steep so no shame in getting the tractor up here and it only costs about 5 Romanian lei (about that yeah) which is about like 1 pound, if that. So it's well worth it if you want to save yourself the trouble, save a bit of time.
So after a bit of a mess finding parking we're here at Castle Bran. Parking was really reasonable it's only 4 lei an hour so we've got plenty time to chill out. The Sun's setting there is a lovely garden here just outside Castle Bran which we're taking the opportunity to chill out in, its nice little water features you know it's just really nice it's good chance - good to get a chance - to unwind after such a busy day.

Romania Road Trip: Brasov Transylvania
Travel video of Transylvania Romania. In this video from my Romania Road Trip travel vlog series we are driving from Sibiu to Brasov, then exploring the sights of Brasov including: St Catherine's Gate, the oldest gate in Brasov old city wall; the Black Church in Brasov Council Square; and String Street one of the narrowest streets in Europe.
The Black Church got it's name after it was badly burned leaving the outside black and charred, however thanks to a cleanup, but confusingly, it is no longer a black church.
String street was created to link one side of Brasov city to the other for firefighters.

Winter 3-Day TOUR București - Brașov - Sibiu [February, 2012]
ENGLISH: The first time I had the courage in 2012 for a weekend railtrip through the Romanian railway stations was in the middle of February, when snow from Predeal slightly exceeded 1 meter, and in Sibiu ... 1 cm. But the mantle of historical flair of European Capital in 2007, Hermannstadt, was more important than the mantle of snow through Museum exhibits steam engines of locomotives and motorcars Depot exposed here.
But Brasov is not an inferior point of tourist attraction, especially if we consider the thousands of railway students that went out from schools in the field near the Depot Brasov, including my father. From here, under the Tâmpa hill, was founded the first private passenger transport company in Romania, Regiotrans, whose units you can watch in a few moments in this video.
For train enthusiasts, many diesel locomotives, 060-DA Sulzer engine or EGM GeneralMotors engine and generator accompanied by the Siemens Desiro railcars or by the attractive modernized ex-DB VT 614 Remarul February 16 is a proper environment for as many shots of cameras or frequently pushes of the red RECORD button of the camcorder.
Finally, it only remains for me to wish you pleasant viewing! I wish you all the best!

First Thoughts on Romania | Romania's Most Dangerous Hammock
Welcome to Romania everybody - this is our first time in this country and we have planned a week long road trip through some of the more untouched and beautiful parts of this country.
Check out Vlad and Georgina from Romanian Thrills:
After leaving Kazakhstan at 3am in the morning we arrived in Bucharest - there we were picked up by our guides Vlad and Georgina and we instantly hit the road.
Our first stop was the cute town of Horezu where they do unique pottery designs - especially how they paint the plates - using a cows horn and a birds feather.
As we slowly made our way out to our hotel, we saw some small villages, ancient monastery and Jess tried water from a 200 year old well.
By now the jet lag had officially kicked in by the time we arrived at our hotel, so after a slow morning the adventures began the next day.
We rock climbed a 200 meter cliff side and after the intense hike we went into one of the most dangerous hammocks in the world - and just hung out.
Once we made our way down we went for a dip in a fresh stream and found our new love - Papanasi - the Romanian Cheese Doughnuts and wow we have found our new favorite desert.
After checking out a rainbow Forrest art exhibit we headed to our next hotel - with some slight spooky vibes.
First hotel we stayed at - Hanul Vutra:
Second hotel - Boutique Hotel Danielescu:

Driving from Bucharest to Brasov | Romania
This is a video of the highlights of driving to Brasov from Bucharest.
Instead of taking the train I opted for a private transfer from Bucharest to Brasov so I could relax along the way and enjoy the scenery.
It was a peaceful drive leaving the hectic central Bucharest street network and making our way into the quiet foothills of the Transylvania mountains close to Brasov.
For the price, $60 USD, taking a private transfer between Bucharest and Brasov is something to consider.
Planning a trip to Romania? Be sure to check out my other Romania travel videos!
Ister Train | Overnight Train Budapest to Bucharest | Travel Day
We had one LOOONG travel day. First the bus from Zagreb, Croatia to Budapest, Hungary. Then we boarded the Ister Train (EN 473) to take us from Budapest to Bucharest, Romania. We've been on a few sleeper trains, and this one wasn't the best but it also wasn't the worst. We booked a 2 person private sleeper which is in one of the oldest train cars. All in all it was a good trip, we caught some sleep, and we saved a little bit of money. If you're planning this trip, just don't expect too many frills... and bring your own toilet paper.

RomaniaToGo Transylvania in 1 Day Tour
Follow us on facebook, twitter, pinterest and google+ for more great photos and articles about Romania:
In this 1 day tour, one gets to visit 3 of the best Regions of Romania: the beautiful flatlands of Walachia, with the rustic villages and locals selling their produce roadside, the impressive Prahova Valley, with its 2500 meters high mountains and Transylvania, a land with 800 years of Saxon heritage.
Highlights:
On route to Transylvania, you first stop will be in the heart of the Prahova Valley. Here the high mountains (third highest peak of Romania) make for great skying, but also for amazing views. Nicknamed the Alps of Romania, they are the only mountains which rise from 800 meters to 2500 meters in one vertical cliff.
Here is where you find the jewel of the romanian mountain resorts, Sinaia. In this 400 year old town is Peles Castle. The palace is our first visit. Erected between 1873 and 1914, has been the summer residence of the Romanian Royal family and it is the most visited museum in Romania. Many say that this alone is worth a visit in Romania.
Next we will continue north and across the Carpathian Mountains. At the entrance in Transylvania Bran Castle will meet us. This castle (a 14th century military fortress controlling the entry route to Transylvania) is nowadays frequently associated with Vlad Dracula's myth. The interior visit will take you back to the time of the Saxon nights, as you will follow the narrow stairways and gothic arches through the castle. After the visit guests must not miss the great atmosphere in the outdoor markets surrounding the castle. Here is the best time for souvenirs.
Afterwards we will drive to the 800 year old Saxon city of Brasov. A fortified town that was once on the silk road entering Europe.Visit the Black Church, the largest church in Eastern Europe, holding the biggest pipe organ of Romania (4000 pipes) and largest collection of oriental rugs (over 600). Stop for a walk in Brasov downtown, just to show you how a typical Transylvanian old city looked like.
Transylvania, Romania Trip Extension
Even without the lure of vampire legends, Romania's central region of Transylvania is a superb travel destination, with its rugged mountain scenery, medieval villages, and well-preserved towns. Now you can experience it firsthand — at a great Vantage value! — as an extension of your European river cruise. Your price includes four nights' accommodations, plus you'll get seven meals, three sightseeing tours and much more. Most intriguing of all, you'll uncover the mystery of Dracula himself!
A day in the romanian countryside
